I played fifa 11, fifa 12, Medal of honor 2010, call of duty modern warefare 1 virtua tenniis4. all of these games went very well with minor problems. but now I started the call of duty black ops. and during gamplay he crashed several times. twice he appeared as BSOd but when I applied fixed releaesd of updates, the game crashes, but no BSOD. I Googled it and found a lot of people have problems on this laptop specially, not for this game, but also for other games too much on this subject. He wants your advice how to diagnose failure in portable or game atleast iwant to vaerify my laptop computer equipment. I use the dell pc support check fairly often, but it does no hardware problem. I found on the internet of people saying that you need to replace your borad because Valentine's mother problem .i also want to add that I also had the problem of game failure on fifa11 and cal of duty modern warefare. They games showed inadmissible mistakes, but I think it could be overheating. If iadded cooling pad for my laptop but now the problem has worsened on call of duty black ops. I have not tried other gmes.   I will try to explain the problem as well as possible. Lets see if I'm not the only one with this problem.

  So first of all, touch-pad of the Dell XPS worked pretty well with the last update for windows 8.1 Pro systems. And when I talk of the button I mean the gesture of finger multi thingy. After the release of windows 10 it still work quite well and after a same update added some new features that make it work touch-pad of almost like Mac. BUT after awhile, they published an another update, then, touch-pad became a complete *. The option multi gesture suggested that all tapping with three fingers, it will evoke Cortana and everything by sliding upward with three fingers must turn on the switch of the task and drag to the low reduced all windows. But what it actually is: while tapping with 3 fingers evokes Cortana, while sliding to the top, he mentions Cortana and while sliding down, it opens the settings (which is not yet included in the parameters of the multi touch-pad finger gesture).

  Yep, it's a problem with the drivers from Dell which has been around since the beginning of August, at least (just Google and you will see), so clearly, they're never going to correct something. They are too busy to load all of their laptops with new crapware. Useless company.

  You misunderstood what George wrote.  Dells have a "factory restore Partition" and reinstalling Windows procedure that is described in the manual of your PC.  For example, here is an excerpt from the mine-

  Reference Dell Factory Image Restore [excerpt from manual for Dell Inspiron 1545]
  1. turn on the computer.
  2 when the Dell logo appears, press several times to access the Advanced Boot Options window.
  Note: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.
  3. Select repair your computer.  The System Recovery Options window appears.
  4. Select a keyboard layout and click Next.
  5. to access the recovery options, log in as a local user. To access the command prompt, type administrator in the user name field, and then click OK.
  6. click on Dell Factory Image Restore. The Dell Factory Image Restore welcome screen appears.
  Note: Depending on your configuration, you may need to select Dell, then Dell Factory Image Restore factory tools.
  7. click on next. Data delete screen is displayed.
  Note: If you do not wish to continue Factory Image Restore, click Cancel.
  8. check the box to confirm that you want to continue reformatting the hard drive and restoring the system software to the factory condition, then click Next.  The restore process begins and may take five or more minutes.   A few months, I installed Windows 10 back on my XPS 15 L502X. It seemed OK, but a bit clunky. Now I'm sick of it. It is so much slower, freeze things upwards, the Start button does not work, it takes forever to connect, webcam does not always work etc, etc.

  So, I want to return Windows 8.1. In fact, I grew to love this OS. Problem is that I don't have the installation diskettes. I tried to get some via Dell website but it came to a bit of a dead end and I'm not sure if they will be provided after the expiration of the warranty.

  Also, I don't seem to have an activation code on the case - is a problem.

  I changed the file nvam.inf to fool the installer to accept my system, and the driver has been installed successfully. The problem is still there.

  I installed the nVidia drivers 290,36 (beta) by using the same trick, it still does not work.

  I tried to call the tech support of my coutry (France) and they say they'll call me back today (because they had database problems yesterday), but they did not. Their offices are now closed.

  XPS 14z has a mini DisplayPort located next to the HDMI port. You will need to use a min-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable to connect the monitor to the laptop.
