  I know there is a metric for sys.uptime.latest which pulls the elapsed time in seconds surveyed of the virtual machine startup. Two questions

  This allows VM cacluate uptime in a perspective of avalability host?

  It only takes into account availability time between reboots to the vCenter level, or it takes into account all the running time? (example: uptime since a restart triggered via vCenter client vs a shutdown - r resulting in a virtual machine)

  I hope someone can give me help with a project I'm running. My company needs a demo environment that is easily accessible. Currently users are connecting to the server via a VPN demo and show features through this method.

  Is it possible to make the demo server available by accessing a web URL and running the Office through the web browser?

  I have an ESX environment and I have a development environment using VMView.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  SSL VPN + CSWP and active RDP would get you encrypted access based on the web at the office over the internet.

  Or TSGateway + CSWP you receive encrypted RDP (instead of VPN)

  I read in the documentation center, it's good, as long as all the files are copied correctly, to open a virtual machine on a different host computer with different hardware.

  and welcome to the forums!

  You are right: If you copy the whole directory to the VM to another machine and open the vmx file in VMware Workstation it then you will have the virtual machine available in exactly the same State as on the old machine (incl. images.).

  If you want to have a backup of the virtual machine, then you can just copy the whole directory of the virtual machine to another location. It is perhaps a good idea in your situation.

  I bought a refurbished machine that came with Win 7 Pro pre-installed. I erased the HARD drive. Completely. Nothing more.

  I don't want Win 7 installed on the drive, but I need an ISO to install it in a virtual machine for research reasons.

  I tried to download the ISO of http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery, but when I gave the product key, I got a response that I should turn to the vendor of the computer and that is preloaded.

  When I did and asked an ISO, they told me to download from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery. This seems to be the only source for Windows ISOs left in the world.

  So, I run long in circles... infinte loop... :-(

  How can I solve this misery?

  For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. ISO file which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

  It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work.   I searched for a virtual machine with OBIEE and APEX pre-installed, but I can't find it... or information messages on this subject. Does anyone know if y at - it a selection of pre-designed developer programs VM with these two tools?
  I currently have the "database App Development VM' with APEX in there, but I can't understand how to install OBIEE inside.

  PL see deployment guide in the link above - the model of computer virtual includes version of database 11.2.0.3, which should be the APEX installed by default in it. If this isn't the case, it will be much easier to install the APEX in the VM OBIEE.

• How I pre-allocate disk and persist when creating a new virtual machine in 7.1?

  Maybe I'm missing something, but I strive to pre-allocate and persist a hard disk for a windows XP Pro VM. It doesn't seem to be the option most to do so during the installation, even in the custom/Advanced menu. Did I miss something in 7.1? Can someone point me in the right direction?

  When you create the virtual machine, choose to create a virtual custom computer, and one of the pages of the wizard has a checkbox "Allocate all disk space now".  Once the virtual machine is created, you can go to the settings of the virtual machine, select the drive, click on the Advanced button and make a persistent independent drive.

  I am creating several virtual machines at the same time, I mean all the user have to do is say how VMs, he wants to be created and the workflow must do the rest, but I don't know what is the best way to do so, in the present workflow in the library , find us only 'create simple VM' so I added a few scriptable tasks to this workflow, but still can't do what I want.

  Any solution plese? or a few best practices to perform this type of workflow? Maybe I missed a workflow can create multiple virtual machines with different names but the same configuration.

  I've seen in many demos and presentations that the GUI offers of deployment of small, medium or large VMs. Can we get more details around this? These predetermined formats are? If so, who determines their - Evo seller or VMware? So customizable, y at - it a specific range, they can be customized to the breast (small to have not more than 2 vCPUs, medium to have not more than 4 vCPUs, etc..)? What happens if a virtual machine that never falls not into one of the three pre configured standards must be built?

  Thanks for the question. To answer. They are predefinied... and that they are set by VMware (not the partner) and they are defined in the interface user Evo.

  Currently, it is not a custom option or the possibility of custom settings - if someone wanted a personalized, virtual computer they could open the vSphere Web Client or vSphere Client Desktop on vCenter and set them in a conventional way...

• Activate Windows: Run Windows as a virtual machine on Ubuntu: how to activate it?

  I just got a Latitude 3550 with preinstalled Windows 8.1. I guess they were active OEM when I went first on the machine. Then I installed Ubuntu 14.04, formatting the drive completely (there is no ntfs partitions more, so Windows disappeared).

  But since I paid for the windows, I would have liked to run using a virtual machine. Try an installation using the DVD provided with the laptop using VirtualBox, I wonder an activation code.

  Do you know if it is possible to get one because I'm not using the original windows preinstalled?

  Activation code? Probably say KEY of Activation for Windows 8.1?  Windows 8.1 is an update and should not be the pre-installed OS, it would be on the sticker on the laptop or it would be in the documentation that comes with it when you bought it.  Do you have one of these pieces of priceless gold paper and plastic with it?

  If you have 2nd hand (from a private owner) she was probably preinstalled with 8.0 and then upgraded to 8.1.  If the answer is "Yes"; You must install 8.0 first and ACTIVATE it... before you run the upgrade to 8.1.

  I tested it after the previous message which was released indicating that you have an error, the nice thing about Foglight is that it allows to see the measures that exist (as you noted the names are a bit different in this case as the example of the JVM) and it also gives you a test button to validate the expression) , don't forget to make sure that she only appliese to the things that have names like Perm if you want it calculated only for generations of perm.

  Even if you wanted to install this Windows 7 in a Virtual Machine on the Sony, you would need a second licence

  And license information for the pre-installed on your machine from Sony OEM licenses.

  If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Vaio from Sony, Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

  I'm trying to get information on how to configure a virtual machine for Windows 7. I use virtual machines demonstrate software that writes my business. I have a virtual pc that is different for each demo that I show up to now, I've been showing the software in XP virtual machines but want to migrate and start showing the software in a version of Windows 7.

  I use Windows 7 Ultimate which is what I thought was necessary to create a virtual machine from Windows 7, but it isn't clear how get the operating system in the virtual machine. Should I buy another license of Windows 7 to make it work? I'll be able to create multiple virtual pc if I buy another copy? Virtual PC uses the 64-bit version?

  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  Unfortunately the Virtual Machines have their own separate license from the license of the host system. There are also a separate license for each simultaneous installation.

  In order to run a 64-bit VM host must be running in 64-bit as well, even if a 64-bit host can run 32-bit VM

  Each virtual machine is at least 2 files, a configuration file and then 1 VHD file for each hard disk, you configure (you can have more than one) in the virtual machine. You can have any number of virtual images, but the memory that you allocate is claimed when you run the machine will be how many can run at a time that is limited to the amount of physical memory in the computer, allowing for some to be available for the host o/s.

  Once you have the license of Windows 7 either convert the disk ISO (I use ISORecorder) or download the ISO image equivalent of Digital River. When you create the VM configuration use the control panel to include an optical drive and load the ISO in the drive. When you start the virtual machine, it will be BIOS start the virtual machine, exactly as if it were a physical computer and load the ISO the same as would a Windows 7 disc. It also works if you convert your demo software into an ISO file and install more quickly without having to use the optical drive on the computer.

  Thank you for your answer, but this does not completely answer my question. I also read that OEM installation does not install the same windows on another machine (virtual machine is like different machine even if I do this on the same machine) and installation of the mine is OEM type.

  More important still, how install windows in the virtual environment? If I format the computer and install linux, in addition to this install virualbox and install inside windows that use the cd - key and it will work. ? I doubt it because the windows is already activated in this machine.

  The extract of the contract (EULA) for Windows 7 and applies to the retail and OEM of Windows 7 versions. So, Yes, you can reinstall it in a Virtual Machine.

  2. Go to system
  3. Go to the properties of advanced systems
  4. Environment variables can
  5. In System Variables, click Add
  6. New name of the Variable: _JAVA_OPTIONS
  7. New value of the Variable:-Xmx512M
  8. Click OK
