Deployment of SQL Server 2008 Enterprise (64-bit)
Is it possible to deploy SQL Server 2008 Enterprise (64-bit) on the virtual machine (using vmware workstation 8) running windows server 2003 as a guest operating system?
Since then, Miicrosoft says "SQL Server 2008 is supported in environments of VMS running on the Hyper-V role in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 Standard, Enterprise and data center."
If necessary please refer to the following link http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506 (SQL.100) .aspx
Grateful for your help!
For the test, you can use the Windows 2008 R2 trial version. Tracks for 180 days. I don't remember that you actually have a Windows 2003 64 biit as a trial version. So I am doing all my tests with the final tests of Microsoft (Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 and the application server).

So far, I have a problemin of deployment with SQL Server 2008 STD SP1 Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x 64 installed on Paravirtualized VMDK for best performance.
but when I run SQL Server Mgmt. Studio to browse the database inside the paravirtualized disk blocks can always 100%?
I'm also unable to perform a backup of this virtual machine using VCB:

Good day to all,I think that I followed all the correct steps to establish connectivity, still nothing does not. Before launching the "bang-head-against_wall" sequence, I'm reaching for assistance.

question about generated an offline source SQL server 2008 given by Oracle SQL developer
Hi friends,
I followed the tutor to the migration of a database server Microsoft SQL to Oracle Database 11 g by Developer sql Version 3.2.20.10 in the window.
I can migrate the code examples in the oracle database. The code example has two file: Capture and data. Under the folder data, there are two parts. one is designated as folder under oracle and rest is data add log files.
When I migrated my database of sql server 2008 in oracle 11. I can objects only sql migrated to oracle but failed to load data during data file missing.
In the past reviewed in the output directory, I see a lot of ctl files under the folder datamove and generate the file. But I am not able to find any file data in support of ctl codes
The code file as ctl example

Use SQl developer offers 2 options to move the data, online and offline data movement. When you call the batch file to load data offline you must also make sure that you collected the data first to the SQL server side using the data to extract batch files that create the DAT files with the content. The content is written in flat files using the file unload_scripts.bat-online check if you have this kind of file, and then copy the entire script to SQL Server folder, and run the script of unloading it.
It will create the dat files that you will then need to load the data into the Oracle database.

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise upgrade of 2008 has beaten the bad standard
Hello
I installed a virtual server for production of Windows Server 2008 Standard, Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Edition (32-bit x 86/i386, support of license Volume and MAK), because I needed some additional features in the Enterprise edition. During the upgrade process, the server hung a few times, requiring a "hard reset" to continue the installation (which seems normal for the installation of Server 2008 on this virtual hardware).
However, after the installation is "complete", the server seems badly broken: the local view is empty, with a mobile mouse pointer. Remote Desktop connection with takes a long time (more than an hour!, even after additional restart), to go beyond 'Application user settings', and once connected, the basic points are broken: starting server manager reports that it might not activate a plugin whose GUID I can't find in a web search, open the 'centre' of the network shows a blank window by typing "NET START someservicename" or 'SC START someservicename' hangs rather than launch this service or signals an error.
Anyone know how to get out of this quagmire, short copy the latest data and wiping the hard drive?
Please repost your request in one of the most appropriate Microsoft Windows Server Forums, thank you!

I installed VS2010 Trail, then I installed SQL Server Express Studio
My Windows shows update there is a update for SQl Server 2008 Service Pack 1
But when I try to install this update
I get an error like below
Error Code 84 B 20001
a few times with error below
WindowsUpdate_20000001 WindowsUpdate_dt000
What should I do to fix this
Thank you

RedandBlue,
The link Shalini gave about the clean boot procedure provides detailed instructions on the use of MSConfig. I think you have just misunderstood the steps listed above. When you open msconfig, click on the button beside selective startup. Then uncheck (clear) the box "Load system services" and "Load Startup items" and then apply and restart. If you have not seen this thread , you can read through it, because it covers the same error you see. Services for SQL Server 2008 Express are not listed. No error message when installing.
Hello community,
I installed SQL Server Express 2008 (without SP but with SQL Management Studio) on a Windows XP 2002 SP3 32-bit. Used to install operating system user is a member of the administrator group
The SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe installation file was downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7593 . Express Edition has been selected during the installation. All prior checks have been adopted (with the exception of 1 and 2 does not apply). I chose this version with management tools that I will need them for a quick change at a later stage. Then I installed on SQLServer2008SP1-KB968369 - x 86 - ENU.exe, which is the general Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008, which has been downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20302. All prior checks have been adopted (with the exception of 1 and 2 does not apply). The installation window title was SQL Server Service Pack 1. In the step select the components, I had no other choice than the selection of shared components / basic management tools. To the right of the screen, it says "Express with Advanced Services" edition / Patch level: 10.0.1600.22
It ended with a message saying that your SQL Server 2008 upgrade completed successfully. The information contained in the mentioned log at the end of the installation displays no error message.
Here is the troubled part
Then I tried to install a different SW that has SQL Server 2008 SP1 as a sine qua non. What he did not. Then I rebooted and wanted to see what version was indeed installed.
Control Panel - Add/Remove software : 5 entries, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 backward compatibility / Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client / Microsoft SQL Server 2008 political / setup of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 supports files (no mention of SP1, can this be correct?)
Control Panel - Services : there is no service of any kind that has SQL Server on its behalf. This is very probably a major problem, a google for that advice that there should be more of them
Regedit - HKLM - SW-MS - MS SQL Server - 100 - Bootstrap Release - current Version : 10.1.2531.0 (Diffferent than SP1, think?)
Cmd - osql-u its Pei : named pipes provider: could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]. / Login timeout expiredI reboot several times since then.
I don't know the status of the installation before installing the SP1, I knew I'd need SP1 anyway.I suppose that services SQL Server issue resolved would be a big step forward.
Anyone has an idea on what I could check?
Thanks in advance, Laurent

DotNetFramework error when I try to install SQL Server 2008 R2
When I try to install SQL Server 2008 R2 I get a dotnetframwork below. If I click on continue some of the façade of the database will not install no and if I left it stop the installation.
I tried to install dotnetframework 3.5 on my computer of 32-bit windows 7, but when I run the exe file it will extract the file, but then won't do anything else. I currently have dotnetframework 4.0 and I do not know if this does not prevent installation of 3.5, which could be the origin of the error with the SQL installation.

I'm trying to install the trial version of SQL Server 2008 R2 on my computer for the second time within the period of 180 days, because last time it has installed without Analysis Services, I needed. The first time it installed fine.
I do not get a specific error message - once the Download Manager comes to extract the SQLFULL_x86_ENU.exe file, a box opens and says "the server returned an error. Would you like to try again? "and continues to appear if I try again and block the Download Manager.
I have Windows 7 and a 32-bit computer. Is the question the fact that it is the second time that I install, or something else? I would have thought that the error would have been more accurate, if that were the case. If so, what can I do to get the software installed on my machine for the rest of the trial period?
Thanks please help!
Hello RobPeterscheck,
If this is your 2nd time to install, did you uninstall the original SQL version until you tried to reinstall?
You can temporarily disable the download manager in Internet Explorer and then activate once you have installed the download you want. This will help to highlight if Download Manager is the problem.
Log on with an account that has privileges Administrativer.
Open Internet Explorer.Click on 'Tools' on 'Internet Options'.
Go to the Security tab.
Go to custom level.
Go to the downloads Section.
Find the file downloads tab and disable the option button.
Click OK.Restart to save the changes.
Please reply back and let us know if this can help.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

access denied while installing sql server 2008 r2 in win8 64bits
Hello, I'm new here with poor English, so I'm sorry if I was rude.
I have a problem when installing sql server in my laptop, the vaio e 14 p, with victory 8 series and its 64-bit, it seems family premium, so I think the problem is that my pc has no gpedit.msc, then I tried to download it online, but when gpedit.msc is done and I tried to install sql server 2008 r2 again the problem still the same "access denied" when the installation process is almost finished.
I want to use sql server for my school task soon, so I hope you can help me.
Thanks before.

Hello
I have a guest of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (x 64) running on ESXi 4.1 with a vSphere Enterprise license 4. I believe that the comments and hypervisor should be allowed for and support 8 virtual processors, but when I add more than 4 and try to turn on the virtual machine, I get "market of the VM [virtual computer name] Virtual machine has 8 virtual processors but the host only supports 4. The number of virtual processors can be limited by the selected guest OS for the virtual machine or the granting of licenses for the host".
The selected guest OS is 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)'. There is no option in the drop down menu to 2008, Enterprise Edition.
This configuration is actually supported? If so, what should I do to get it working?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
Hi Matt.
.. .on ESXi 4.1 with a vSphere Enterprise license 4...
For vSphere 4, you need an Enterprise Plus license if want to create 8 vCPU VMs.

Migration SQL server 2008 SQL server standard, what is the best?
Good evening
I need help for a migration to sql server.
We already have a vcenter 5.1 production installed in Windows 2008 R2 x 64 with SQL Server 2008 express. Our data increase and ourODBC cannot answer for our use. We need to migrate to SQL server 2008 Express in SQ server 2008 standard.
I have a problem with the software installed Vmware (SSO, Update Manager).
I have two choices:
- Install a new Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 Standard and import datas beetwen current server to our new.
- Migration on our current server SQL Server Express to the standard.
What is the best solution?
Kind regards
You must check odbc 32-bit and 64-bit. If not mistaken only um uses 64-bit
