I would install xp 32 bit on my 2nd partition to create a system dual boot, but everything I find says to install the oldest operating system first.  When I tried to install win xp to Windows vista, it wouldn't let me.  Then when I tried to boot from the xp disk, the installation blue screen came, but after loading drivers, he jumped a blue screen (the one which means that your computer has crashed) whenever I tried.  How to install xp now?

  I strongly recommend that you copy the recovery on an external disk partition before you try that. I'm not aware of what specifically happens when you try it. An interesting thing is that in the HP BIOS, there is no option to turn on or turn off EFI mode.  If the partition is big enough it can work.

  First of all, you need to remove the dual-boot scenario (this is why you cannot format).  Here is the procedure - it is generic, but should work with these operating systems as wel (this is the second series):http://www.ehow.com/how_4558992_delete-computer-operating-system.html.

  Once you start only in Windows7 (you have more choice at the start), you should be able to use Windows7 to format the disk containing Vista and then you're done.

  Be very careful, because change startup files can cause you to lose access to the two systems - not only the Vista-if you do not correctly.  I suggest that ask you that question in the Windows7 Forums; http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 of confirmation for Windows7 is what you want to keep.

• Dual boot Win 7 64 - bit of complications and Win10

  At the present time, I have a dual boot system running Windows 7 and the preview to win 10 (on a separate SSD). Everything works OK.

  I want to install a new motherboard and load a 64 bit version of Windows 7 (new battery).  And... I want to use the SSD for the final version to win 10.

  If I understand correctly, I will have to remove my HD Win7 and win 10 SSD to install the 64-bit versions. I have a DVD 64 bit Windows 7, but I guess I'll have to get a Win 10 ISO.

  I would like to reinstall a large part of my Win 7 backup files and programs for the 'new' 64-bit Windows 7. Then I carefully would focus on files and programs to victory 10 64-bit in the car.

  What is freaking me out, is the vision of key programs does not work with the 64-bit versions. If all goes well, I read that a large number of 32-bit programs running on a 64-bit system.

  With a bit of luck, I have to burn (in TB) storage so I can back up carefully, but that is not good if the stuff saved refusing to work with a different system.

  I'd love a lot of comments on my strategy. I'm too much of a big deal, or it's going to be a nightmare?

  If the program is specifically designed for the 64 bit version of Windows, it will not work on the 32-bit version of Windows. (However, most programs designed for 32-bit version of Windows operate on 64-bit Windows version).

  Device drivers designed for the 64 bit version of Windows do not work on computers running a 32-bit version of Windows.

I have Win7 on a 2 terabyte HARD drive, with another 1 terabytle internal HARD disk and two 1 terabyte external hard drives. I have an Intel Core i7 960 @ 3.20 GHz, 20 GB of RAM. I want to keep Win7 on 2 TB drive and add WinXP on the other 1 TB internal drivw in a configuration dual-boot. The other two drives 1 TB external would be used for backups and data. I would like to be able to boot XP because I have many applications running on XP wothout having compatibility problems.  The two Win 7 and XP are complete versoins. Or that I would be better to try a virtual configuration?

  Are you aware that you can install the free XP mode on your Windows 7 system?  Once installed, you can launch in 15 to 30 seconds as a task under Windows 7 and run your XP applications without having to reboot.  It works fine as long as you can live with the graphics.  The graphics of XP Mode are great for business applications.  This would be my first choice.

  You will probably get the positions, which suggests a way to install XP and then download a program or two and patch in some places.  But for me it's much simpler to just create a small partition of 30 GB and make a 30-minute "quick and dirty" installation of a second absolutely minimal copy Windows 7 in there.  This will get all start after installing XP, if you decide to go this route.  It's not like intelectually sophisticated as more involved patchwork approach, but it is faster and easier.  As my professor of chemistry at first year said "anyone can make things complicated; He needs to make things simple.  I think the professor was very clever!
