deterioration of the power of the purse strings

Anyone else had problems with power cords deteriorate just for no reason?

It happened to me several times.  I had cable usb for iphones, are still near the place where the plug is inserted into the iphone.

The most recent is my macbook pro power cable.  I've already replaced once (I think that they gave me this time when I got it service a bit back and forth) and now it's happened again.  She appeared first open, then it was also like the wiring inside shrunk in length (when it didn't) and the rubber on the wire sleeve looked too long and began opening jerky.  This cable is literally in one place with no fold in the cord and is rarely ever packed for travel.  And as before the rubber is peeling slowly out of the wiring.  Now, it's just a fire hazard, so I guess I'll buy another cable.

Anyone else?

Yes, they are made cheaply.

Under warranty they will replace them, otherwise it's in his pocket.

  • How to convert the Ascii string containing hex to hex string info?

    Dear all,

I am busy doing a control/reading program for pumps of ISCO.

Right now I'm in trouble with to send orders for PUMPS in HEXADECIMAL. When I use a CONTROL to the STRING in HEX display, everything works fine (when I manually write down the command in the control of the chain).

Exist it a couple of pieces order: string Destination, length, ordering, Checksum. I'm doing a sup - screw that automatically calculates the checksum (modulo 256) and adds it to the string. Everything is going well: first of all, I shared the ascii bytes command and I calculate the checksum and add as ASCII HEXADECIMAL value to the chain of command. Also a CR (= 0d) is added. Now the whole string must be converted to hex. The string contains the right nummers HEX, but they are in ASCII format. Here was I feel worth it, I don't know how to do it!

    So to summarize:

I have an ascii string that contains the values HEX (for example 315230303652454D4F544531420D) and it must be converted to a HEX string (for instance 3152 3030 3652 454 4531 420 4F54) for the pump of the ISCO can understand the command.

    The VI is attached.

    Thank you in advance,

  • to limit the input in the xcontrol string characters

    Hello

I followed an example online at deveope an xcontrol for the input string, but limit the input only characters for capital letters from A to Z. I have the main code as follows

In the key to the bottom of the event, I throw all input character with the ASCII beyond [65, 90]. Sounds works but if I continue to press a prohibited (e.g. %), it will show that the key in the control. So, how can I ban the entry by a long press on a button? Thank you.

Maybe including an event ' key repeat? It will handle the case when a character is added when the user holds the key. I think that you will just need to copy the code in the event "button down?

  • Incorporate the binary string in the string spreadsheet file

    Hello LabVIEW wizards...

So I use scripture to VI file spreadsheet to create a beautiful layout, tabs-delimited report of one of my programs for the acquisition of data file. In one of the cells in the resulting worksheet file that I want to put a binary string of all my control values so when you open the data file all the control parameters used for its manufacture are restored, but the string is hidden when the report is displayed in Excel.

The problem is that the binary string flattened uses tabs and returns as part of its syntax the Spreadsheet File this VI to Write it's going in all directions. Worse yet, I can't unflatten chain when I open the file text because of "corrupt data or unexpected".

If I concatenate the string flattened with quotes around it she is superb and is placed in a single cell in Excel, but when I open the file in LabVIEW that she is still several elements in the array. I've isolated the binary string using the file VI text reading and got a subset of the quoted string, but it still unflatten correctly.

Essentially, I need to know how to get LabVIEW to pull a string literal full of special characters into a spreadsheet file and it unflatten. Any gurus what help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I suggest that you change the formatting of your chain shipped by replacing the tabs and returns with other characters that are not considered as commands by the spreadsheet functions. Without knowing how you represent your control binary values, I can't offer specific characters.

If two non-printable characters exist which do not appear in the control data, it's easy: just find and replace tabs and returns with those characters.  If there is no character, then something more complex needs to be done for example to escape special characters.  Or create two subVIs - one to remove the tabs and returns before writing the string in the file and the other to restore after reading.

  • The hexadecimal string to decimal content content

I write a code in LabVIEW to convert MBus data for some energy meters.

Apparently the meter that I use sends the data as a string in hexadecimal format, however after correctly parking that string in hexadecimal format, the real value is the decimal number in this hexadecimal string without conversion.

    Example:

-Response of the meter (String in hexadecimal display):

    68 37 37 68 08 07 72 89 12 13 67 A7 32 04 04 00 00 00 00 0C 06 09 58 02 00 0C 14 39 13 79 00 0B 2D 47 00 00 0 B 3 B A 30 32 00 5-0 HAS 81 03 0A 5TH 68 0 A 03 62 13 00 0F 21 04 00 00 20 86 16

    -After parking, I get 22 bytes to 25 (09 58 02 00) in the right order, i.e. 09 58 00 02 meaning 25 809 MWh.

This means that I need to transfer sort the string in hexadecimal numbers to display a decimal format and divede by 1000 to get the correct value in MWh.

I tried to use the Type Cast and Conversion of string without success. Can someone please help me find a solution?

    Best regards.

  • \t does not 'change the ToolTip strings '.

I don't know if I should call it a bug or missing feature

If I use SetCtrlAttribute (panel_handle, control_id, ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT, "blah blah blah blah \t\t"); then the \t is extended to a tab. It's what I expected because \n is extended to a carriage return/line break, too.

However, if I use Editor UI to change the ToolTip string and enter the same "blah blah blah blah \t\t" text, then \t appears as \t.

You know what I'll tell you, it's not very coherent and I would like to see \t work in the user interface editor, too.

    Thank you!

  • Concatenate the hex strings

In the attached example, VI is there a way to have the 1 b be represented as Hex instead of ASCii after the output string concatenation? Why function concatenate strings automatically converts the 1B in ASCII?

Rather than convert the number to a string of ASCII characters, you should change the representation of the byte in a string. If you always want only a single byte, use the U8 instead of I32 data type. Convert an array of U8. Convert to string. Concatenate. Lynn

You cannot return a pointer to the data stored on the stack. At the time when the function returns, the stack is reset to the State before the call to the function and in a multithreaded as LabVIEW environment probably long reused for other things when LabVIEW gets around to actually copy the returned pointer data.

Since it is a read-only variable, you could create a permanent memory for string storage by declaring your variable static. This will create a memory area allocated globally for the string data (and also cause a compile error when you try to write in this area somewhere in your code, which is a good thing).

  • Express dialogue VI file modifies the error string

    Hello

today I got a strange error message form the express VI of the file dialog box (with the name of the new folder dialog box):

1055 error has occurred in the new folder dialog box-> check if the directory exists.vi-> configure the directory path.vi-> load PS config-> program.vi Triax file.vi

    Possible reasons:

LabVIEW: Object Reference is not valid.

After some research, I discovered, that VI is not the source of the error, it has just changed the information received from the error in terminal.

Is this a known problem in Labview 2011? I have not found anything.

The expressway screws work is that they generate a real VI that will be executed whenever you change the configuration and that VI is saved as part of the VI call. You can watch the VI generated by VI right-clicking and selecting Open the front panel, which will be asked if you want to convert. If you do this and look inside the real VI she calls, you will see that it performs an unconditional call for a VI that modifies the error string. I would say this call should probably not do if it the error was true, then I would call it a bug.

In practice, I'd say the best option is to call the primitive file of dialogue yourself or call errors to merge and put the initial mistake of wire on top or wrap all express VI into a case of error structure.

  • Display the exact string of the file as a hexadecimal display data

I'll send control messages via a serial port, which are built in a series of bytes.  Currently, I have all these messages in an excel file which is 8 columns of 224 lines.  The messages are the exact hex display, I need for my program works.  To check my installation, I tested a few messages by manually typing in messages using a string constant and the value display hexadecimal and everything works well.  How can I get the strings in my file to be recognized as they use hexadecimal display.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

So if I understand, you read an ASCII representation to hexadecimal format of the command strings.

You must convert ASCII bytes, then the chain, in this way:

The entrance on the left string must be read from your file, of course.

Notice that the representation of the integer constant must be U8.

You don't need the Trim function spaces if you are sure that the string does not contain additional characters beyond the last hexagonal number.

  • Unit to the Format string

    Hi all

If a control already has a unit, and move us to a format based on the string, its does not display is not the same exact unit. For example, under control has 'g' unit, while the format string has unit "kg".

    1. Is it possible to do the format to a string take the exact unit specified in the control?
    2. Is there a way to delete unit in the format based on the string, even if the digital order entry has a specified unit?

    Attachment VI to 2010.

    Thank you

    Knockaert

Not automatically, no. The problem is that the designation of the unit in effects only control how data is displayed in a particular control. When wire you a value with units in a format to the node of the chain, it will express the value of the base unit for the wire.
