Different fonts GUI on Asian Windows systems?

Hello

distribute us software in the world, but there seem to be a problem in the Chinese and Japanese Windows versions.

The original police seem to be replaced by something else-which sometimes causes problems. (see example to the pdf attachment)

Y at - it a simple way on the system target to point on the right font software,- or a substitute for better?

Thank you

Greg

  • How can I change all the fonts in Windows system?

I read this article about how to change the fonts, but in the SYSTEM.ini and WIN.ini, there are no sections named "windows".  I guess I might have to make one, but then the article says also that the police must be a .fon font.  Is this some sort of font file?  I think that most of the fonts in my folder of fonts opentype, certainly not "fon."  OpenType can be converted into fon?  Or can I just use opentype, or whatever it is?  Also I don't really understand the 'present in the windows\system folder' thing, although I think it simply means that the font file should be there.  I've changed most of the fonts on the appearance tab, but that does not change everything, especially dialog boxes.

The System.ini file is used only for 16-bit applications, the file system.ini 'old' cards through the registry the following keys which are used for 16-bit applications:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WOW

    and

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping

The %systemroot%\system.ini file is kept only for compatibility reasons, for the use of applications of by16 bits that can't read and write in the registry.  There is nothing to change for Windows XP system fonts.

For NT operating systems this should dissipate things:

  • error: windows system font is too large for STORYBOOK WEAVER runs correctly. Tried to change the screen resolution-same error

I tried several setting resolution screen, but same error.

    Try adjusting the settings:
    1. go in Control Panel
    2. click on customize
    3. in the right pane of personalization, click "adjust font size (DPI).
    4. click on the 'Continue' button on the user account control prompt.
    5. check the box before "Default scale (96 DPI)"-Fit more information "."
    6. click on the button 'Apply' and 'OK '.

  • Small fonts in some windows system problem

    Hello!
I have a strange problem that I've not seen before - in some windows system, her police is too small and not properly crenellated. The problem only occurs in some windows: file properties window, shell open/save dialogs etc. In other windows, such as control panel - the police are ok.

Here is a screenshot of a window of system properties I see:

and here is how it is supposed to look like:

As you can see on the first screenshot - the police are clumsy and too small...

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (Japanese version) with installed 'English language pack '.
    Here are my DPI settings:

Setting the DPI to the middle (125%) increases the police a bit, but all other windows are maximized too, and this option is even worse for me...
The strangest thing is that on my work PC I have exactly the same version of Windows and the parameters - and the police are here ok!

Is there a way I can fix the police? I even compared my fonts in the Windows directory / do with the fonts on my work PC,-they are the same...
Also, I'm sure that's not a problem of software 3rd party, given that the operating system is already installed by DELL and it is fairly clean (2 weeks).

Does anyone know how to fix the fonts? Don't want to reinstall the OS... :(

    Thank you
    Anton

The reason lies... Thanks to sysinternals forum.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes\MS Shell Dlg
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes\MS Shell Dlg 2

The "MS Shell Dlg" attribute has been set to "MS UI Gothic"... Changed to "Tahoma" and now the police is ok (http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/731/fontsubstitutes.png)

  • Different fonts between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work very well. Fonts are all installed in the directory system on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro box.

I can load a file in Fireworks CS3 without a single question and text everything seems perfect. As it should.  Close the CS3 open CS5 and load the same file and CS5 tells me I must update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, the same fonts in the same font directory. Only thing that's changed, it's that I open the file (s) in CS5.

The fonts look the same in CS5.  I'll have to redo all the Fireworks CS3 files so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?

Here is a sample image of the way it is supposed to look like. The Swift gets watered. PlazaDUtil is the police. I'd hate to have to redo all my files logo.

Before Fireworks CS4 used engine type of Macromedia. Adobe CS4 with impatience, introduced the adobe type engine to improve the handling/integration of text between AI FW and Psalm accordingly transition files CS3 to cs4 forces FW update policies.

  • WINDOWS\SYSTEM\fix_egpt.FON

I'm running a self-extracting ZIP file to install an application, and when I run the file I get the following error message. Installation hangs at the 85% mark and possibly error message "program does not. Tried 2 different machines, same result.

    Skip files:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\fix_egpt.FON

What does do this file and why it hangs at this point? Thank you!

Asked and answered. This problem was caused by a Live and the trial version of the same application being installed on the same computer that they shared the same police that remains in memory and seemed to be "in use" when the second version of the application has been installed. A fresh reboot of the system solved the problem. Otherwise, go to Windows\System and remove the font file.

  • Recover Windows System Image in Boot Camp 10

    Hi all

I have problems with Windows on my iMac.

So I installed Win10 using the Boot Camp Assistant, partitioning 300 GB for it. After awhile, I realized I want to segment much more, so I tried looking for a way to extend this partition to 500 GB - I have tried it with a 3rd party app and didn't. I then created a Windows System Image, restored the fuser unit to a single OS X partition and reinstalled Windows with BCA - by then I had decided to partition 1 TB for each operating system. I installed with no problems and tried to recover Windows from the Image of the above system. But instead he apparently formatted my entire SDS, including the OS X partition, that the iMac will not start and more.

[I have a backup Time Machine and everything, I also know I have to reinstall OS X and then restore from that backup.]

The question is how to do what I tried bypassing Windows format the whole * thing. If this is not possible at all to recover from the image, I'll be forced to 'start from scratch' and I'd really rather not, 3rd party applications are welcome at this stage. Also, can I recover the files from the Image of the system?

    Thank you for your time,

    Bruncky

PS. : Given that the Apple employee didn't know immediately what I was talking about: in Windows, a System Image is a 1:1 copy of my Windows partition around, as opposed to a backup that saves only files apps and not content generated by the app.

PS2. : If I reinstall OS X from Recovery Mode, do I make specific configurations about the merger by car?

This issue arises from a bad assumption made during the restorations by the process of restoration of Windows. It assumes that the restoration is made on the dedicated disk that has nothing else. Winclone is the best solution on Mac instead of Windows System Image backups. I have some time with a few users and I have tried with different levels of success. Please see Bootcamp not recognized after the restoration of Windows from image system for example.

    Try of Winclone.

There may be some confusion between the Image of the system and the history of the files. Time Machine has no concept of an Image of the system, so it is also the terminology 'exotic '.

PS2. : If I reinstall OS X from Recovery Mode, do I make specific configurations about the merger by car?

No, unless you have built a custom Fusion car. If you have a Bootcamp partition on the drive of Fusion, you want to ensure that you're not crushing BC/Windows, unless a wipe/restoration is your goal.

    Hi Olivia Lee.

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. has the recovery disk provided by Compaq?

    3. what happens when you try to boot from the recovery disc?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the recovery disk to repair Windows XP as these recovery discs are very different from the original Windows XP.

Therefore, you will need to make arrangements for an original CD of Windows XP and later to perform the installation of Windows XP.

Refer to method 2 in the below Microsoft article on how to repair Windows XP installation.

  • InDesign crashes every time you double-click to open a file on Windows System .indd

InDesign crashes every time you double-click to open an InDesign file and has done so since the replacement of the original version of InDesign into the launch of CC.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I would say it was unique to my system if I had not met the problem several times on several different systems now.  You must restart InDesign which then opens the recovery file, so he saw the file you are trying to launch in the first place.  This leads me to believe that the problem lies in the registry file to InDesign inside Windows systems association.  I find it incredible that this problem still exists and remains declared that a solution has not been implemented by Adobe to rectify the problem.

Double click is a fundamental tenant of open files on a Windows system in the same way, that a click is on a Mac.  Does InDesign crash ever time a Mac user clicks to open their records, I don't think.

Someone at - it ideas other than the obvious which is Adobe actually released their figure and fixed it.

    See you soon,.

    Pat Doyle

I'm on Windows and I double-click on freely and I do not experience this problem.

Yes, I think you're onto something when you identify yourself as a registry problem. Maybe try another registry cleaner/checker? Maybe someone has published the specific registry fix.

If you uninstall, restart, then clean the registry, then reboot, then reinstall, you may have the opportunity to fix the registry corruption.
