  Hey people, I'm kind of a weird request. Do not forget that everything I know about InDesign, I taught myself for a month, so I can miss major somethng.

  As an intern, I am creating ebooks and I have to make sure that those I create the same look as the ebooks previously created for my employer (better yet, I had to do it from scratch!). In their previous ebooks (EPUB file format) the table of contents posted by the ereader clearly indicates a specific style of OCD was used to create (he titles and subtitles, so it is not just the default style that draws from the file names), BUT there is NO table of contents anywhere in the body of the ebook itself. There is also no blank page where a table of contents can be hidden with a hidden layer.

  I created a table of contents to match style to them, but I can't it appears in the drop-down menu Styles TOC when I go to export EPUB book file unless the document of the table of contents is also included in the book file, and as I said, I can't get the table of contents in the body of the ebook itself just in the menu that is displayed by an ereader.

  Any advice?

  Did you use dialogue style of content Table to create a new style of table of contents? If so, then the new table of contents style must appear in the drop-down list TOC Style selected in the dialog box in the Navigation options to export EPUB.

  When you create a book in the epm workspace, is v11, there a way to format the table of contents, as it uses aliases for versions and divisions? seems simple enough, but I can't find a SETTING button

  AFAIK, EN and workspace are quite limited when it comes to the formatting of books... Sorry!

• text too close to page number in the table of contents

  Most of the time I can take care of unattractive line breaks in the table of contents by putting in the nonbreaking spaces in a paragraph.

  However, sometimes I have a situation where a table of contents entry text is too close to the page number right. The text is so close to the page number as in some not case of presentation of points of the leader, or show only one or two points of leader.

  Writing and its adjustment page number on one line, then putting in the nonbreaking spaces won't solve the problem. I could put in a soft return (SHIFT-ENTER) in the table of contents entry to force a line break, but it is not effective because I have to put in the soft return manually every time the table of contents are updated.

  If someone has a tip on how to effectively manage this problem, I would like to know about it.

  Some time ago, someone posted a solution to make the line nice breaks in the index entries. It's setting values of the minimum and maximum word spacing in the paragraph Designer. The values validated it did not worked for me, so I played a little with it and use the following syntax:

  In the paragraph format for table of contents entry, set the maximum word spacing of 325% and oral minimum spacing to 275% and the optimal spacing to 100%. Note the fact that the optimum is NOT between the minimum and maximum values. I don't know the algorithm that Frame uses to decide where the line break, but I'm guessing he first decides to break the line to fill the max and min requires, breaks the line, but changes the spacing back 100%, which is what you want then, in other words, we don't want large spaces.

  The causes of values above a line break about an inch or two to the right margin. If you want to close, try 225 percent and 175 percent. I found that over these two issues of line breaks occur further from the right margin.

  This method does not have to enter the manual line breaks and gives a nice line break, even for those rows that could fit on a single line.

• How to make a table of contents reflects the document formatting?

  I use a table of contents for a long document. In the document, some special words - the titles of the texts that I write about - italic. But when they appear in the Table of contents, they are not. Part of the table of contents and problematic subheadings are shown in the attached images. I can do all the headings / subheadings italics, but I don't seem to be able to reformat the individual words, I can find no option for the table of contents to reflect the formatting of the titles themselves. I'm heading to the last resort of manually typing all the senses...

  

  V4.3 Pages ' 09, or Pages v5.6.1, will resume the paragraph/character in the body of the document style attributes in the generated TOC. To a certain extent, you can customize the table of contents thereafter.

  I have a superscript® in a title in a document that should be put in the Table of contents. When I generate the table of contents, I can't keep the format in the table of contents.

  I could cheat and manually change the, but there must be a way that remains with these properties whenever I have to regenerate the table of contents.

  There are two separate issues here:

  1. If you are super as a character Format in the files of body, the format must be in character for the OCD catalogue, or the formatting is not applied.
  2. If you do this and get it display correctly in the table of contents, which will break the hyperlink linking it.

  The solution is usually to do great as characters of Unicode natively by exposing and not the character Formats.

  When I generate a table of contents new, I correctly pulls in the required header fields, but some of the formatting is more as well. I have set styles of paragraph and character for table of contents entries and set the styles of characters for numbers and separators as well. Something prevents styles OCD which is applied to the entries in the table of contents. Any ideas where I can look?

  I have the file, and I think I see the problem.

  All titles and registration of TOC seem to have a paragtaph style and an applied character style (makes me think you might be a new convert to Quark). I suspect that you don't understand completely the use of character styles and the hierarchy of dormatting ID, so here's a quick primer.

  All styles of paragraphs contain the formatting of the base characters. This should be set to match your own way the type is defined in this style to appear. Usually, there is no need for a style of character at all.

  Character styles are used for special cases within a paragraph where a particular character or string must have an appearance that differs from the rest of the paragraph. You can use a character style to apply underscore, or to make a word bold or italic. Character styles can define all parameters of the text, like the family of fonts and size, but are generally most useful if they do as little as possible, such as "BOLD" as mentioned above. The reason is the case is that a character style outweighs the paragraph style, but is not a "substitution" and will continue to apply the text if you change the paragraph style or its definition. A style which simply applies "BOLD" will work with any font that has a "BOLD" Variant, at any point size, in any color. Character styles are not removed during the erasing of substitutions because it is assumed you want to that they continue to apply (and as said, they are not substitutions).

  "Local formatting" is applied in text selection and by directly modifying the attributes without the benefit of a style. These take precedence over the paragraph and character styles as well as replacements ARE will be deleted if you clear overrides, but not if you change a style without erasing the replacements.

  So in the end, you need to redefine your paragraph style blue title, or create a new one that uses a character color [paper], then delete the style to heading white character text. Similarly, you can do with the style of input characters from the table of contents is not necessary if there is no character applied to the titles in the text style. If you don't need to use these styles of character elsewhere in the document, and I suspect that you don't have, you can simple, select them in the character Styles Panel and delete them. When asked for a repalcement, choose [none]. Looing through the Panel, it seems that you may have created the character styles to go with all of your paragraph styles and unnecessarily applied, then you will probably need to delete those as well.

  Make sure, also, that the [none] style of characters is turned on when the text tool is active, but there is no insertion point or selected text active to avoid having a style of character applied to all new text. It seems that it is already true, but double check.

• Frame Maker 10 with S1000D - table of contents Figure not to format

  I use image Maker 10 with S1000D Application Pack, I again document S1000D-> New-> model Crew, inputing the data according to the elements and updating the table of the S1000D materials-> update TOCs all works fine, but when I insert the Figure and updated the table of contents it is not in the format

  

  When I checked the document example given in FM 10 S1000D, once I insert the item 'Title of Figure' it auto entry number... but not in the model of the crew.

  Please help me how to deal with this

  This formatting error is due to a rule of text missing in the application of the crew Module. The best way to solve this problem is the following:

  1. Locate the S1000D application files in FrameMaker installation folder.
  2. Open the ESD for the purposes of the crew: crew_401.edd.fm.
  3. Also open ESD for the purposes of Description: description_401.edd.fm.
  4. In the ESD crew locate the definition of element figureTitle which is located in the graphics section. You should see that figureTitle has no formatting rule.
  5. The EDD Description contain the rules of formatting required, so just copy these rules to ESD of the crew.
  6. Save the EDD crew. You may modify the EDD file permissions to allow read/write access.
  7. Open the template of the crew: crew_401.tpl.fm.
  8. Import EDD into the model by using file > import > element definitions...
  9. Save the model of the crew.
  10. Open the module data crew, the list of Figures displays now the correct formatting.

  Note: Do not import the EDD directly in a data module open as this will overwrite the values of the attributes as defined by the map BREX.

• Table of contents imported as the overlay of text have no active hyperlinks in PDF format

  The model that I inherited uses a method in which the table of contents appear in the main FM as an insert text imported doc. To create the table of contents, a table of contents in autonomous is created and then imported as a text box to the specific location in the main file. When this FM file is saved as PDF hyperlinks in the page table of contents do not work.

  -Am I doing something wrong, or is - what a limitation of text import crashing like OCD?

  For reasons specific to my application, I use books with a Table of contents file that imports the TOC file generated as a text overlay. And hyperlinks in the PDF file. I understand that, in general, the links in text ads that link outside of themselves are not active in the PDF file. But for some unknown reason, the links in my Table of contents work in the PDF file.

  So, I tested your case. I created a standalone table of contents for a single document (be sure to select create hyperlinks in the Set Up Table of contents dialog box) and then it imported by reference into the document. I created the PDF (print to the Adobe PDF printer) and the links work perfectly.

  Make sure that you have selected data Acrobat generated in the print dialog box, and THEN select make named Destinations in the links in the PDF Setup dialog box tab.

  I have also heard that if you apply a format of characters in a line in the table of contents, links will not work in the PDF file. It is another thing to check.

• a Table of contents a hyperlink in the Pages can be exported to PDF Format, and there is still work?

  We wrote a history of 96 page of our community and have a vast hyperlink of contents table which works fine so that in the Pages.

  But when we export it file to PDF Table of contents is no longer a hyperlink

  Any help is appreciated

  Pages v5.6.2 does not PDF export with functional links in the Table of contents. Pages ' 09 v4.3 exports PDFS with active hyperlinks in the Table of contents. Both tested on OS X 10.11.5.

  Hi guys,.

  Recently, I learned how to link and synchronize with RoboHelp Word documents. However, I am having a few problems when I updated the project RoboHelp change Word document after I right click on the file > update inside the pod project manager.

  The current challenges, I am experiencing the following:

  1. The clue that I have configured with the selected words of subject pages becomes empty after I updated the Word document in Robohelp.
  2. The table of contents becomes white after I updated the Word document in RoboHelp.
  3. I had to remove the excess on some Pages in the topic space because it looked funny when the previewed image. When I updated the Word document in Robohelp, returned the excess space that I removed...
  4. Another weird issue is that, sometimes, the changes I make in RoboHelp overrides any Word document. For example, if I have added text to a particular topic within the Word document and save it, Robohelp will not update the contents of the pages of the section with the Word changes even after I've updated the file inside RoboHelp...

  I'm not entirely sure how to work around these problems or if I'm doing something wrong. I really want to use the capabilities of RoboHelp synchronization, as it is more efficient for single source reasons.

  Advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You do not use the project for related Word documents index. You insert a placeholder for a separate index. See the pages on the links on my site.
  2. I guess that now you do not have OCD, other than that of the linked document.
  3. It's probably because the excess space comes from the Word document. You will need to fix here.
  4. To get a change in RoboHelp and a different change in Word, when you update the RoboHelp change sticks and the word it is not applied? Which can only happen if you protect your changes. Again, see my site.

  As you can see in the screenshot below, the pagination is right-aligned, sometimes in the table of contents, and sometimes it seems all wrong. What should I do to fix this?

  Menu > view > show rules.

  You can select (click) each level (Style) of the Table of contents and view the parameters of the rule.

  

  

  With the second level selected, look in Control Panel of Format > text > tabs
