Direct email to the trash

Since the update of Mac OS x 10.11.4, new unread emails go straight into the trash. There are no good link with every email, seems to be random.

Checked the 'rules' as some e-mails mostly related to questionable claimed FedEx, Google, LinkedIn, & put rules: key words: message unread, Support, etc. None of these words have been in e-mail messages to trash & have deleted the rules to see if the problem of bugs, but not yet received mail.

Somebody had same problem & is the solution to this problem?

Thank you

Hi ray34,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple! I'm sorry to hear you're having such problems with mail on your Mac. Looks like you've been on the right track in your troubleshooting. I agree that according to the symptoms you describe, mail rules is the first place to check. You can also check your junk e-mail filter settings. You can find the information in the following articles useful:

Address postal (El Capitan): use rules to manage your Inbox

Address postal (El Capitan): If junk mail filters do not work properly

  • Outlook express sends Amazon emails in the trash?

    Hey smart people.
I need your help please. During the month last Outlook Express suddenly began to send Amazon and Ebay emails directly in the folder "deleted".  Of course, this means that if I'm not careful, I could miss important emails. I have no rules set up message to tell Outlook Express to do that, with those who are clean, emails that are not in the list of 'blocked sender. Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thank you very much

    Graham.

These messages would end at amazon.com and ebay.com, correct? See if you can find them in senders blocked in this way.

OE | Tools | Message rules | List of blocked senders. Highlight the first address on the list. Click: Edit | Type in the address you want to remove. (Amazon.com) invites: "this address already exists, are you sure you want to replace it? Click Yes. The address will now be at the top of the list. Remove it.

In the message rules, if you have a delete it or move generally deleted items, check them carefully. If you have a rule for example that removes zon.com or thebay.com, they will also remove the messages from Amazon and eBay.

Compaction doesn't send your mail in the trash. Those are backup files in case something like this happens.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:

    And see:

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Sent an email from Google to my credit card customer service. The next day, I noticed about eight versions of this email in the trash. • From 8/24, most of my emails go directly in the trash instead of the 'Inbox '. I have some companies, like the Daily Herald, etc. that I want to receive.

I don't know if it was the result of an update to Thunderbird if this problem started when I created a filter for unsolicited junk e-mail that I had received. When I clicked "Run", each email "in box" went in the trash, instead of just the item that I had highlighted. I then highlighted all of the trash and he returned to the Inbox. None of the items I've retrieved from the trash and you want to receive were among the 685 items listed in my filter of junk e-mail messages. I have no idea how all of these got messages filtered as trash. I had hoped the problem has been resolved, but as the day wore on, I noticed that almost every email I received still went straight to the trash.

Examples of emails I love receiving: Daily Herald updates, Netflix, global market, Best Buy, etc. I don't have to demand for payments of invoices from the 8/24, but I have to assume automatic responses to planning a payment will also go to the trash. Even the Mozilla Support e-mail that was sent just when signing into my account went straight to the trash. There are several emails I want to keep to my file, so I don't want to close my account and start again. It seems personal friends messages are still in the 'box', but each business email goes directly to the trash if desired or not. The screening went to the extreme.

The help section does not resolve this issue, so I am at a loss on how to solve this problem. It doesn't seem to be a process to do the opposite of message filtering. In the dream world, I would need to highlight the messages I want to receive.

An overview of this issue would be most appreciated.

Problem solved. I used Google search for my problem and found some very good information on troubleshooting. The last filter, I created for spam, I clicked on 'does not contain' rather than 'contains' and therefore each email message unique since that time obviously did not contain these key words, as they were going into the trash, I received!

What a relief to retrieve new messages in the box in. Thanks Google and those who offered assistance to someone in the past.

  • Gmail has been hacked, most email now goes directly to the trash

My gmail was hacked.  People in my contact list have sent emails asking them to log on to a site. Most of my email goes to the trash.  I went to the Genius Bar last week, but the Lady could not fix. My email is still going directly in the trash.  I tried suggestions from research on the web, but have not been able to fix it.

    Hi Reyvanzo,

First, immediately turn on the audit 2 steps in your Google account, to be sure, it is well protected.

Then open the Gmail settings and go to the filters Panel: you will find at least one filter that automatically deletes all e-mails. Remove each strange filter that not create you, this will fix the problem.

    I hope this helps!

  • Yahoo email on Apple devices is going in the trash

    Please help.

Have you checked your yahoo for possible filters email account to redirect all incoming messages in the trash?

  • Why is automatically emptied the trash on my email account?

My emails used to be saved in the trash and I kept for future reference. Now, they simply disappear. Is there a setting I can change to change this?

Re: my e-mails used to be saved in the trash and I kept for future reference.

"Trash" is for the items you want. "Basket" means "Rubblish' to be scrapped; throw; Remove.

They are only in the Trash because you selected the 'delete' or you move them manually.
The reason for having a 'Trash' folder is to act as a stop gap because sometimes you might delete an email by mistake and want to save.

File basket is not the place to store the items you want to keep.
Please create new folders to organize your wanted emails.
    Use "Basket" to unwanted emails.

Trash (also known as "Deleted") can be automatic out empty on if the option is selected.
Tools > account settings > server for the e-mail account settings
    or
Menu icon > Options > account settings > server for the e-mail account settings

Uncheck the box / select as appropriate: "empty the trash when leaving.
    Click OK.

If you have an Imap email account, there may be a different policy, used by the server. Some auto Recycle Bin empty periodically by default and there is nothing you can do about it. After all, Trash is for unwanted items, then after a time saving an email deleted by mistake, they clear this folder to create more space.

    Background information:
When you choose to delete an email or put it in the "basket", from your point of view varies for example: Inbox to "trash".
In reality, it is always in the Inbox as an email "marked as deled" hidden from view. So it is still too much space in the Inbox.
When you compact your Inbox folder those "marked as deleted" are removed, freeing up a space.

When you see a folder in the folders pane, it is in fact a mbox file (assuming that you Pop mail account or synchronize subscribed imap folders).

When e-mail messages are downloaded they are not stored as individual .eml files, they are stored one after the other in the order they have been downloaded in the same "file". If you do not want to put all your e-mails in one or a couple of files.
Create folders to organize messages into subsets.
Archives of old messages to free up space in regular used folders.
    See the info on archiving.
