  You can do this if the Server SMTP allows you to send from a location that you are not connected via their internet service.  So if you have this permission, go to tools | Accounts | Add mail.  Then under the account of property | You want to set the server for incoming mail to the POP3 account, and then the SMTP protocol for the other account that you use to send servers.  And then indicate whether or not the server requires authentication, and if yes, then you will need to put in the user name and password for the SMTP server it.  Under properties.   Why?

  Because my PC sometimes gives an IP address like 169.254.0.1.  This is because Windows has detected that your computer is connected to a network, but the PC has not yet given an IP address by DHCP on the network, so Windows Server the automatic IP Configuration comes in and gives the PC an IP address that starts with 16.254.

  The reason why that the DHCP server on the network has not given an IP address was because the network is coming a few seconds before the DHCP server comes up, and the automatic IP Configuration Windows comes too quickly.

  Of course, once the PC has an IP starting 169.254, he cannot communicate with my router that has an IP address that starts with 192.168.  The only cure, outside re-booting, is to issue the ipconfig/renew command to obtain an IP address from the router DHCP server.

  If I can turn off the automatic IP Configuration of Windows (I could disable in XP) then I can avoid this error.
