Disable the USB by each Application

Hi all

Would need to ask your opinion on that. I am Setup publishing applications to RDSH vWorkspace console. One of the goals that I need to achieve is to ensure that USB is disable for application 1 when its publication so that USB is enable for application 2. For the moment, I know to turn off the USB setting is configurable on the web access property, but which could have an impact on any person that accesses via Web access. Y at - it somehow, we can configure this in vWorkspace? Thank you!

Kind regards

Cyril

Cyril,

USB redirection is session based. That said, a user must Access application 1 and 2 at the same time? If not, you could control when USB redirection is enabled using strategies of connection in the console vWorkspace.

As well as the objectives advanced linking strategies give you very good flexibility.

  • Disable the USB port

How do disable you the two USB ports on the front of a Dell Inspiron 3647? Or better yet, the password protect them?

The problem with the software approaches, either change the registry or by using an application like IntelliAdmin, is they disable all the USB storage for all users. If you won't be able to connect a USB or USB either. Note: If you use them, only the key and encrypted USB drives USB encrypted is HIPAA compliant.

You will also need a password protected administrator account and only this account has the right to change the registry or re - run IntelliAdmin to reactivate the USB access.

The Manual shows two connectors on the motherboard to the front USB ports. If you unplug the cables of these two connectors (be sure to store out of the way or cover with the CHATTERTON, so they can't communicate with the motherboard, case, or any other component), you can physically turn off the two front USB ports.

BUT, BUT... I do not know if that generates an error message when the PC starts, or if the PC starts even when these two cables are disconnected. May be worth a try...

My other thought is to put the PC in a cupboard locked (with adequate ventilation) and only personnel are the key.

Since it is a HIPAA question, you may not be the first to meet, then maybe you can find acceptable solutions to the HiPAAJournal.com or related resources.

  • Is it possible to disable the "long click" "Prompt to download" mini menu WebWorks?

    Hello

Although the feature click-n-hold to bring up the menu mini BlackBerry with the option to "Invite to download" is very convenient, in my application (at least in some areas) it is certainly not desirable.

In my case, I got an arrow "spinner", that the user can click on increment, or click and hold to auto-increment at a speed faster they can click.

It works by starting the auto-increment "onmousedown" and continues to run until "onmouseup" (e.g. user break)

However, on the BlackBerry device... a click and waiting for a second about causes the mini menu popup (blocking the view) to and do not trigger the mouseup... event so the control turns uncontrolably.

    Mini menu:

I wonder if there is a setting to turn this off on one for each item (for example, a special attribute) or the worst case... a way to completely disable the function in my application (not a huge problem, because it is an option in the menu of the main application to invite a user)

I tried the blackberry.ui.menu.clearMenuItems (); https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/APIs/BlackBerry.UI.menu.html#.clearMenuItems and looks like it works fine ;-)

  • Interrupt the USB plug PC CVI

When I plug in the USB of my application on the PC, I can communicate with the USB using CVI8.5 and nor-visa link.

    Paul

    Hello Paul,

How good are you with the 'concept' USB?

If I understand correctly, then the problem is not located in CVI itself, but more related to access to USB devices in general.

A guide very useful tool that I myself used also (in a personal atmosphere) is the following:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/hardware/ff540174%28V=vs.85%29.aspx

You write your driver from scratch.

Is there a specific reason why you don't want mark?

Also something useful can be the following document.

The following document could also prove to be very useful:

    http://www.codeproject.com/articles/18062/detecting-USB-drive-removal-in-a-C-program

At a certain level, you should check "windows messages" that are produced by windows. The tutorial above should introduce some of these concepts.

  • How to keep the USB to USB UPS during sleep (Win 7 64)?

    Hello:

Still no response to painful problem with connection to UPS for sleep loss system.

New desktop (Dell Studio XPS 8100; Intel Core i-7 860 2.8 GHz processor; Win 7 Ult 64; 8 GB OF RAM; ATI Radeon HD 5770, etc.).
Brand new APC Back UPS XS1300LCD w/power falling Personal Edition v. 2.2. (Win7 compatible).

As with my old system to Vista Ult SP2 (32 bit), sleep cut power supply for USB devices, including the UPS.
Thus, if a failure occurs during sleep, the APC software could not perform his managed system shutdown.
Which defeats the purpose of having the inverter with its software to stop.

TS: the manufacturer of my computer (Dell) and APC were useless.

The only viable solution "circumvention" of Vista has been to implement a diet plan that NEVER put the HDD to sleep.  Not a very good solution, but at least it allowed UPS to stop software do its job failure.

Apparently, it is the only solution for Win 7, as well.
    Or is it?

If I disable the USB selective suspend in the settings for a plan power which puts the HDD to sleep, will be this or do not solve the problem and allow the computer to maintain the power (and the link with) the UPS during sleep?

Help, please. I'm not too computer savvy, but I hope it * is * a more satisfactory solution to this problem.

I have assigned to these forums several times in recent weeks, but never seem to get an answer.

    Hello

Follow these steps and check if that helps:
    1. go to start and type in Device Manager in the start search box and press on enter.
    2. in Device Manager, right click on the USB device and select Properties
    3. click on power management, then uncheck to Turn off energy-saving and activate the option to wake up from its sleep.

You can try to disable USB selective suspend and check if it solves the problem. Disabling this option has corrected the problems of connection with the devices USB mode 'sleep' for many users.
