disabled vs retired GIS
Hello
I don't have what is the difference between disable and former signature...
I read that GIS retirement except sensor HW resources but in is it disabled?
THX
M.
If you want to save resources HW then you need to retire unnecessary signatures. Retirement/unretiring signatures forces "recompile" signatures that are then loaded into the memory of the device.
Deactivation/activation of the signatures is only that. It has no influence on what signatures have been collected in memory.
As you can imagine, compiling signatures may be consuming a lot of resources. Maybe something that you don't want to do during the peaks of use - you can disable a signature that is not relevant to your environment as a time first tuning activity. It is safe.
You can plan his retirement/unretiring signatures during a maintenance window.
I hope this helps.
Best regards

Hello
How the Signature IPS development team to determine when a signature is obsolete? Is there still a reason for the United Nations - a signature that has been defined as retirement through the application of a package of retirement signature update?
Mark,
An obsolete signature is usually the result of a new GIS who just. Lets say that there is 1 signature that looks for the event. BU then comes with 2 signature that looks for the event A or event B (usually has a variant of the event) or with signature #3 who has more eficient way to find A event. They thus decided to obsolete Signature #1.
Also, there is no real reason for UN-retirement retirement signature. Retirement of signatures are usually signatures to pull a lot of false positives and generate a lot of noise.
Here's what the documentation says about it:
Obsolete
The signature team Cisco uses the obsolete field indicate obsolete, old signatures that have been replaced by newer, better signatures, and to indicate the disabled signatures in an engine when an instance of this engine better is available.
I hope that answers your questions.

How to disable the updates of the beta chain?
Beta updates disable my report of Trusteer, which often does not support updating. How to retire from the beta update channel?
Thank you very much for this. I found that due to completely uninstall the current version after that save Favorites and then install the V33 and their import worked very well.

Whenever I have disable Synaptics ClickPad using the option 'disable the internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached', it works fine until I restart. When I return in the options, it is still once unchecked. I tried to turn off the drivers, but they are grey, but wan't to avoid this meathod ultimately because it is not ideal for me.
Action taken:
- Update to the latest drivers.
- Disable the cache and history cleaning software.
- Try different USB ports.
(That's fine, but when I restart it unchecks itself)
Thanks, Mike
Mike,
Sorry it took me awhile. I have all the "Nitty Gritty" details if you want, but the "net-net" is the update of this option writes in "HKCU" and there is a "HKLM" in the register which is default location and never changes.
I managed to do that work by changing the corresponding section of HKLM in the registry. It not be "rejected" at each logon as the HKCU section seems to be. The ICON remained "hidden" which is what I wanted to happen with the change below.
Try this and see if it works for you!
1. open Regedit.exe
2. go to the location next to the register:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh
3. Note the REG_DWORD value named - TrayIcon
4. the numbers of data match this way:
0 x 0000001 (1) DEFAULT = which is the active ICON
0 x 0000011 (17) = animated ICON
0 x 00000021 (33) = disabled ICON
5. change it to what you have been wishing, in my case it was 21 Hex or Dec 33 for DISABLED ICON.
6. exit Registry Editor
7. restart to test or log-off/log-on to test.
NOTE: If REG_DWORD is not here, it is probably safe to add it, but in my case it was already there it was just the value 1 and never changed when I changed the settings. Only the section HKCU did who has always retired at the end of my session when I disconnected or restarted.
Let me know the results! I hope it suits it for you!

(I have a few Win XP computers running the great. And I like Win XP.)
Here's the situation:
I have also a Vista computer and a very very old computer Win XP. This computer very very old win XP has been in the dust of basement collection and will be sent to the recycling center.
Question:
The two Vista and old Win XP computers came with the OEM version of windows. (Not the retail version.)
Is it legal to use the Windows XP from this very old (to be retired) computer to down-grade the Vista to XP computer?
(Will do that if it is not legal.)
Thank you
Skip
Sorry, no. You cannot move an OEM license on another computer.
You can move the windows on a new computer
If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.
If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

is there a way to disable the "fallback" option in XP?
I just get licenses retail XP & CD to someone who has retired from some old computers and passed to windows 7. Activation does not appear to be a problem with me using these buttons, but I am not so autocratic updated WGA Push in the system yet or not. In fact, it is always downloaded updates after that I remembered to use my SP3 CD as well.
Because I had a spare part to upgrade an old computer to Windows 98SE, I decided that I've never bothered spending the money to upgrade, but it has enough power to deal with. It is now a dual boot.
The 'stand by' option never worked in windows 98, and it crashed the computer. I never found a way to get rid of this option. However, I have seen XP 'stand by' systems where does not appear. How can I make my own system, one of those who, as I just tested and it caused my system never wake up.
He had an incompatibility with the option 'stand by' in win98 for 10 years, it's no surprise that it would not work in XP.
BTW, if there is a way to also disable 'stand by' Windows 98SE, please also post this procedure, that I don't have the system put in place as a dual boot. This way I don't have to reinstall everything and if I want to use something to Win98, I can just boot win98. Adding another helped drive.

Windows Defender is disabled and won't restart.
For some reason my windows defender has stopped itself. I tried to turn it back on without success to date. After trying the reactivation, the answer is to try to do it manually, I tried that, but still can't sem to make it work. Help a poor old retired. My e-mail is * address email is removed from the privacy *. Thank you to use my email if you can certainly help, it may be easier for me to have to find this site.
original title: can NOT TURN WINDOWS DEFENDER BACK.Hello
Windows Defender does not have a Firewall.
If Norton edition is a Suite of Internet security, not just an AV, it has its own firewall, and you have disabled Vista firewall to prevent conflicts.
And this has been explained to you by a previous contributor here, Norton disables Windows Defender, which he is supposed to do.
There is nothing to worry.
Please read all answer of Bruce Hagen again.
And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:

http://netsquirrel.com/Msconfig/msconfig_vista.html
Or the program Autoruns for FREE:

Prevent or stop the attack without signature or signature disabled
Hi IPS Expert,.
Our IPS is always set as based signature and anomaly detection is not enabled.
Is there a guideline that you can recommend to stop/prevent the attack without signature or signature is disabled.
I understand that if the signature is not enabled, it will also create event or alert.
This means that we will not have any idea when to stop.
Kind regards
Jhun

There are several reasons for which a signature can be disabled by default, but usually they are not active for a good reason.
Signatures have a natural life span, they are created, tuned to detect variants of the vulnerability / initial attack. Later in their lives, once that vulnerability has been mostly fixed or patched, they can be disabled. Once they become rather old to have little use for all they retired.
Other reasons a signature can be disabled, but that signature translates into a high rate of false positives. If you have someone perform analysis on the events that generates your IPS, you will waste their time and their talent with no productive events. It is the most common reason that a signature is disabled in an active sensor.
The last reason, maybe you want a signature (or a family of signatures) disabled, it is that they do not violate security policy you. If your organization allows peer-to-peer file sharing they that you wouldn't need signatures to stop this activity.

Disable the default ISAKMP policy?
Y at - there no way to disable or change the default ISAKMP policy? I created the number 20 of the police, which is used in a VPN site-to site in vain for a quarterly PCI analysis the results come back in due to stage successful 1 authentication with encryption DES/DH768. I reproduce these results with the help of ike-scan with explicit parameters OF/DH768.
This is a 2600 router and I just upgraded to 12.4 IOS (23) because I came across (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/security/command/reference/sec_c4.html) Cisco documentation which says that 12.4 (20) introduced the "no crypto isakmp default policy" - but I do not see this command still available to me. Here are the results of sh crypto isakmp policy:
Priority protection suite 20
encryption algorithm: three key triple a
hash algorithm: Secure Hash Standard
authentication method: pre-shared Key
Diffie-Hellman group: #2 (1024 bits)
lifetime: 86400 seconds, no volume limit
Default protection suite
encryption algorithm: - Data Encryption STANDARD (56-bit keys).
hash algorithm: Secure Hash Standard
authentication method: Rivest-Shamir-Adleman Signature
Diffie-Hellman group: #1 (768 bits)
lifetime: 86400 seconds, no volume limit
Any help would be greatly appreciated!Hello Anthony,.
I saw the link you provided. It seems that this command was introduced in12.4 (20), T... note the T. This indicates that it is only in the T-train train or technology and only seen in some other 12.4 T code or the train from 15.x newert.
You say that your router is runnign 12.4 (23) implicitly code Mainline (M).
The last T code for 2600 seems to be a 12.4 (15) T, so it does seem that you can enable this feature in order to disable the default policies. It also seems that the 2600 series retired as no new code is released March 27, 2010.
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/routers/ps259/prod_eol_notices_list.html
Looks like you can be out of luck and may need to look for in buying a newer model router to get the newest software support and the ability to disable the default isakmp suite.
Of course, it is noted that while they can establish a session ISKMP, however, they will really be authenticated by the router in message MM 5 as most people use internal cases for certificates on the VPN.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards

Disabled SR impossible to CS3-looking for Exchange Active Info
I am a retired 63 year photographer (disability) who, because of disability, fighting against the 10 disease (rare 2 - no treatment or healing) and now are trying to survive on 10 K per year (on medicaid and $63 a month in food stamps), cannot afford to upgrade my old computer (2004 workstation Dell - Win XP Prof Sp3) - so I can't download any of the new Cloud creative programs. My computer does not meet the latest requirements of the system. I had to sell most all my possessions for tips and pay 59 doctors. All I have left is my library hardcover book (which no one wants to buy these days), my PC and my 14 year old car.
I have Photoshop CS3 and LR version 1.41 installed so at least I can still use my favorite program. I used to visit the Adobe Exchange website for free brushes, styles, forms, etc., but now I don't know where or if I can still get those creative resources of my old version of PS. It seems that now Adobe offers only a page of exchange for users of CC. Is this correct? So am I (and millions others) totally left out of the loop now as a user of Photoshop simply because I can't afford to upgrade my software/gear? OR have I missed just the exchange for older PS version users page?
Thank you for your help, Bettie Robertson
Well, it seems that adobe Exchange did CS6 low-threshold. But then again, other than for activation problems, they won't support CS3 and using Windows XP, you get past Adobe Camera Raw/Dng Converter 8.3
It is the same for the people of Mac OSX 10.6 is like Windows XP.
But there are a lot of resources of good reputation for photographers. I would go to Luminous Landscape or DPReview to get advice on the best free resources for your version of Photoshop and windows.

API to disable the process BPEL (State = stop) in Oracle soa suite 10 g
Hello world
I am looking for a solution disable a BPEL process without using the BPEL console in Oracle SOA suite 10 g. I was thinking about an API, but I can't find in the list below those that would be useful:
http://download-UK.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28986/index.html?com/Oracle/BPEL/client/package-summary.html
Any ideas?
It also crossed my mind to use Ant by disabling a BPEL process. Anyone know if there are any available custom Ant task for updating the State of a BPEL process?
I look forward to hearing from you all!
Thank you!!
SRHi SR,
You can do this by having a BPEL process with a java embedding containing code below.
/* * Input Variables */ String processName = (String)getVariableData("processName"); String revision = (String)getVariableData("revision"); /* * Declare variables. */ IBPELProcessHandle procHandle = null; Locator loc = null; BPELProcessMetaData bpelProcessMetadata = null; try{ /* * get Locator Instance */ loc = getLocator(); /* * Lookup Process. Revision optional. */ if(revision == null || revision.trim().equals("")) { procHandle = loc.lookupProcess( processName ); } else { procHandle = loc.lookupProcess(processName, revision); } if(procHandle == null) { throw new Exception("Unable to find process: " + processName); } /* * Get Metadata of the process. */ bpelProcessMetadata = procHandle.getMetaData(); /* * Set Lifecycle to Retired. * Use setState(IBPELProcessConstants.STATE_OFF) to change process state to off. */ bpelProcessMetadata.setLifecycle(IBPELProcessConstants.LIFECYCLE_RETIRED); /* * Finally update the process with the modified metadata. */ procHandle.updateMetaData(bpelProcessMetadata); }catch (Exception e) { addAuditTrailEntry(e); }
If you wish, you can schedule this process.

USB disabled after the update of the Sierra (a short circuit and a work)
Hi, when I bought my mbp 13 inches mid2012 (used, not new) I noticed that a USB port did not work. In the Yosemite sometimes I noticed that a USB port consumed too much energy and have been disabled. (I think because the usb port has been short-circuited. Year when it was time to update the mbp to El Capitan I had a few panic the kernel and the newspaper was shown as the last driver loaded the USB driver, so I kept the mbp with Yosemite. A few days ago, I updated for Sierra but only usb which used to work stopped working. It has enabled and turned on but Finder and disk utility does not see the drive. In an Apple dealer they said that could be established relationships with some oxide and next week will take it and see what the problem is.
If there is someone with the same problems, please tell me what to do! I don't want to put in the trash my mac just for a flash drive... but I need!
Hi Supermene,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. Based on what you said, it appears as a USB device is not recognized in one of the USB ports. There are a few things that can cause this. I recommend you read these articles, which may be able to help solve the problem.
macOS Sierra: If a USB device does not work
Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.
