disappearance of e-mails in windows 8

new laptop, windows 8, I just my emails keep disappearing, nothing in the Inbox, sent deleted etc, please help

[Moved from comments]

Hi Raoul,.

It seems that you are unable to find some mail from your Inbox.

  • All mails disappear or that you see some of them out there?

You can check the e-mail app settings to see if it is set to display all e-mail messages. Here's how to check that.

  1. Open the Mail application. Press the Windows key + key C .
  2. Click settings. Click accounts. Click on your account name.
  3. Under download email from, select at any time.
  4. Wait a few seconds and you should see several emails in your Inbox.

Here's an article that gives you more information. If this is not enough, please create your own thread with more information to avoid confusion.

Thank you.

  • Disappears from the toolbar of Windows Mail

I asked a question here a few days ago on the icons disappear on my toolbar of Windows Messaging, sometimes on Windows mail opening, sometimes after a few minutes. The toolbar is there, but there is nothing about it.

The notice was to reset the layout toolbar. I did and it works, but the change in the presentation does not last. I click on apply, then OK, after removing the toolbar control; I then add a toolbar control and apply / OK again. This restores the icons, but it doesn't last. The next time I open Windows Mail, I have the same problem.

What can I do to make the provision permanent?

    Hi Bobov,

Have you tried all the methods of the previous thread suggested by Brian?

    Try this step.

    1. start Windows Contacts. Then click on organize and select Properties.

    2. in the Properties of Contacts window, go to the Customize tab. Here you can choose the type of folder to use for the Windows Contacts. Most likely, it is now changed for all objects, Documents or the music.

    3. in the text box that says "This file as a template to use", there is a selection area with the elements. Click on it, select Contacts , and then click OK.

    4. you should be able to see the toolbar.

    I hope this helps.

  • Where should I contact regarding the functions of newsgroups in Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

Where should I contact regarding the functions of newsgroups in Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

I seem to have problems with Windows Mail, perhaps caused by the update KB978542 and/or run the program WMUtil.

One of my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit machines, whenever I try to start Windows Mail, it displays 0x800C0155 error message, then a message saying that he was unable to start because MSOE. DLL could not be initialized.

The other has problems of material type instead: it's a laptop with no mouse and no reliable connection to the internet.

On my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit machine, I can start Windows Mail, but most local issues have disappeared - only the Inbox is visible.  I already checked that subdirectories for the other files are still present.

All three of these machines have had problems of backups for months and have had no successful backup for the last two months.

I have trouble finding enough information about Windows Live Mail without having to install this program if it could avoid these problems or just make it worse.

    Windows mail in windows 7

I just converted to Win 7 and found that Windows Mail has disappeared.  I don't want to use Windows live, I'm not interested in conversing with the world, I want to just send emails.  Outlook Express is gone and I started using Outlook.  I don't really like it as it has too many things that I don't want.

  • Keep E-mail on Windows 8 Mail App

I recently bought a new laptop which, of course, provided with Windows 8 and the new e-mail program.

I've used Incredimail but what I've read of will not attempt to install this time.

I also use Outlook at work, so am familiar with it, even if I don't like it.

In any case, both of these mail programs, it is possible to create new folders to help sort mail, and these files keep the mail in them until the point at which they are removed.

I have succeeded to create a folder in Windows 8 Mail and thought that I had a crush, but the mail that he disappeared after that month I put in place for emails to shown.

I used my files as a quick and easy way to sort and save things I wanted to keep and really miss me.  Is it possible in Windows 8, I've not yet discovered to do.  So far I have cut and paste into Word documents, but it is frankly a bit of a pain.  Then something else I do re - sends things to myself to keep them informed, but the Inbox is just get clogged.

If I put my sync on the "anytime" mode I guess that when messages are old enough to disappear from my Virgin account then they will disappear also on Mail, so that's not an answer?

    Hope you can help.

Thank you for taking the trouble to look at this thread, but once more the real question was not understood.

It is not save attachments that is the issue, but keeping the important emails on a permanent basis on my computer.  With Live Mail for Windows 8, all massages disappear after a maximum of 3 months.
Since starting this thread and does not all useful responses, I installed another provider of messaging and solved the problem in this way.  It seems not as nice as Live Mail, but at least he leave my mail for as long I want it.

  • Minimize Windows live mail in Windows 8

How can I minimize windows live mail in Windows 8 and there not show in the taskbar on the left side.

The program was built to allow this, so we are unable to offer much help.  There are a few tricks you can use to try to mislead it (like that), but which is not supported and if it is causing problems, you're on your own.  It even works at all.

If your taskbar is the default setting (see the 'just the icon'), the point is rather moot anyway.  Now on the left provides some of the advantages:
    • Consistent access from the same place at all times
    • If the icon is pinned, it is still there when the program is not running
    • Notification (small icon inside the icon) to show when you have new messages
    • Jump list (right-click on the icon for direct links to common tasks)
    • Keyboard shortcut by the position of the taskbar.  Example, if the mail is the 3rd icon is complete, press Windows + 3 to open the mail (or switch to him).
On the other hand, having the icon disappears when minimized causes impacts on the workflow:
    • Access to the program, it should go to different places depending on whether the program was closed, open or reduced to a minimum.  Example: "start the program from your desktop.  Unless it isn't here, then click on start / all programs.  Except if it is already running, then it is in your taskbar.  Unless it is reduced, then it is by the clock.  Unless it's under the hidden icons".  Feedback from users shows the users do not like to play hide-and-seek with their icons, and these scenarios are no longer supported.

  • Importer e-mail and addresses from Windows Mail in windows.old to Outlook 2007 in the new Windows 7

Installed Windows 7 on a laptop last night.
Old system: Vista & Windows Mail
    New system: Windows 7 Ultimate (64) & Outlook 2007

Prior to installation, we have saved copies of records of e-mail and address books for the two users on a disk partition.  These same files are also still available in windows.old.

Import in Outlook 2007 feature, I cannot select a directory where the old files/email address. He just made a kind of research and can't find anything.
I wish that prospects to find them and convert a PST file but can't seem to make it work. I tied each combination in the functionality of Outlook 'import' and even tried to drag the old emails in the outlook Inbox (just create a new email with the .eml attachment file)

What should I install Windows mail, that he could recognize the old addresses / and then inport to Outlook?  Maybe then Outlook will look for them in their actual location?

    A little frustrated...

How did your question related to Windows Update, Al?

You cannot import data from Windows Mail directly in Outlook. See...

How TO migrate [Windows mail] Outlook (when you have only the message store files)
       http://www.HOWTO-Outlook.com/HOWTO/migratefromoewlm.htm#FILES_ONLY

In your case, you must first download/install Windows LIVE Mail and then import data from Windows Mail in this e-mail client. After that, you can EXPORT data from Windows LIVE Mail to Outlook (compared to import the data into Outlook).

Yes, this is all very confusing. Adding to the confusion:

    1. you must set Windows LIVE Mail as your default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) item Set Program Access and computer by default in Win7 before any function send to or MailTo will become available.

    2. you will find general support for all e-mail Win7 Clients in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/threads

    3. you will find support for Windows Live Mail in this public newsgroup:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?DG=Microsoft.public.Windows.live.mail.desktop

    4. you will find support for Outlook in these forums as well as in this public newsgroup:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?DG=Microsoft.public.Outlook.General

  • Outlook Express 6 emails were stored on an external drive and are stored in folders with the name of people. Is it possible to import them to Windows Mail on Windows 7?

The strange things about this is that the mails are visible when you view them via Solution Explorer and they can be added to Windows Mail one by one.  However, they do not seem to be in a dbx file and they are not imported when the folder is selected.  Don't know how all these emails got it sorted by name of the person (in the folders).

First of all, please note that Windows Mail is not provided and does not normally work under Windows 7. Perhaps mean you Windows Live Mail, which is a differnet program and also does not come with Windows7, well that many manufacturers together with the computers they sell.

However, there are solutions that allow you to run Windows Mail in Windows 7, so, assuming that you've used such a workaround, please read here:
