Disc eject not properly Message: lost my internal SSD from OWC

Early 2008 Mac Pro3, 1; Quad-Core Intel Xeon; 18 GB of memory; OS10.6.8 on the original drive internal; OS 10.8.5 on internal SSD from OWC. Fantom external drive for backup with Time Machine.

The problem:

I suddenly got an alert while browsing Internet (using Chrome) that said, ' disc ejected properly. " Now my internal SSD from OWC TB 1 has disappeared from my computer and does not appear in the disk utility. So I can't go back to the disc. This isn't a problem of computer sleep, since I my put Mac never sleep. My screensaver will start after 3 minutes of no activity. I tried to restart my Mac, hoping that the OWC SSD would appear on the startup disk option. No joy.

Searched communities Apple and found a response "resolved" to a similar event (Re: disc ejected properly) , but it was prematurely pulling on a flash drive since a port on a MacBook Pro. It's instructions:

1. remove your ethernet cable and turn off the WiFi and other connectivity of network you have.

2. open Finder, go to your computer and then you select Macintosh HD (or whatever you renamed it).

3. go in Macintosh HD - Library - Preferences

4. scroll all the way down the list and you want to see a folder called SystemConfiguration

5. pull this folder on the desktop.

6. go into System Preferences - sharing and change the name of your computer, even just a little small.

7 reboot

8 re - activate Wifi and Ethernet

9. If you have installed the release, remove it and remove it from your startup items.

So my question is, the instructions above would work for me? Or should I do something else to return my OWC SSD on the desktop? Haven't tried a full stop, because sometimes it starts after a stop without various machinations. So I would like to avoid this, if possible. In addition, my Fantom external drive disappeared.

Thanks much for any help!

Can't really help you. What I would try. Remove the disk and place it in an external. See if it can be installed, or you can use THE TOP. Also try it on another Mac.

Finally, this 6G sata III SSD is overkill for your 2008 Mac Pro which is sata II. I think especially in OS X version 10.9.5 I buy shot Toshiba sata II SSD Apple brand off Ebay for a good price and very compatible with the Mac earlier compatibility problems.

Can't help you. I'm sorry.

  • Windows Live does not show messages that I've transferred from OE on a XP machine.

I used EasyTransfer to move the contents of my old machine XP with Outlook Express on my new Windows 7 computer.  Then I installed Windows Live in the W7 machine.  I don't remember the details that happened then, but WL announced that he had found a number of imported messages.  However, the most recent of them was almost 3 years from 2010.  (Back in 2010, I may have made a reconstruction or backup that gave these messages a different status - can't remember).

I then went back and re-run EasyTransfer, but this time, under Advanced options I said to transfer Applications/identities.  He did his transfer in the night and the next morning, I launched Windows Live and called "import".  It took a half hour or so, to import thousands of messages in the Inbox, sent items box and others.  It just seems like it should.

But when I browse Windows Live (very clumsily) the sent items box always seems to be empty, and the box front desk only keeps old messages from 2010 and before.  How can I find my old email?  (There are two inboxes, one labeled with my email address and the other marked storage.)  Both contain only old messages.  They do not seem to share everything).

    Cory

We normally find records containing messages imported into a folder called files imported under storage folders. An easy way to find them is to press Ctrl-Y when you view your list of messages. This will display a full folder tree, so you should be able to find the records you miss.

You will need to install a (e.g. MS Outlook;) Windows Live Mail; Thunderbird) , and then set it as a default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) article in Set Program Access and defaults of the computer , then restart your computer before any function send to or MailTo will become available.
