  Control Panel - mouse - there may be several tabs there who control options to check the
  TouchPad and sensitivity.

  Also check the Notifification area near the clock in the bottom right as there may be a program running
  who controls the Touchpad.

  Some models have shortcut keys that allows to control the Touchpad.

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 and any time I try to play mp3 with Media Monkey or even Windows Media player, I get a jerky sound or jump slightly.  I looked into the Task Manager and my CPU usage and the memory never get more than 45%.  I have Windows Vista installed.  Could be the problem?  I think that the audio device is SigmaTel.  When I do a search for new audio drivers, it says that they are all to date.  Help, please!  I'm at my wits end here!

  You can switch backwards between your Realtek audio driver and the native audio driver Windows in this way:

  1. open Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press ENTER).
  2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
  3 Select this option to "Update driver software".
  4. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
  5. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
  6. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.
  7. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio"(native driver).
  8. click on "next".
  9. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).
  10 restart the portable computer if you are prompted. If not invited, so no need to restart.
  [To return to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 1-6.]

  I recently bought a laptop computer Inspiron 17R in order to reduce the use of my laptop Precision M6600. A Dell U2312HM monitor has been used precisely as a second monitor and I want to use with the Inspiron system newly acquired as a second monitor. The different video ports on both of these computers and I failed to get the monitor to work with the Inspiron. While the accuracy using an older VGA connection, the new Inspiron using a HDMI connection. To further complicate the issue, the monitor has several ports to connect to a source of video output, which includes the DisplayPort, DVI, VGA and ports for USB connections upstream and downstream, but not including HDMI. I used a DisplayPort to HDMI Cable adapter trying to to connect the Inspiron to the monitor, but could not produce an image on the screen of the monitor. This continuous monitor to answer correctly when it is attached to the precision via the VGA cable & port so I'm confused as to why I had no luck by attaching the monitor to the new system with the adapter DisplayPort to HDMI. • Cannot send an attachment in mail on the new desktop Dell Inspiron 660 s

  I was not able to send any type of attachment in an email since I was this new 660 s Inspiron.  I tried a black and white document plain with no luck and also tried to attach a picture to my pictures folder.  I called Dell support and since I had my computer for a little more than 3 months, it is not under warranty of the software, and don't talk to me without having to pay over $ 200 for a software warranty.  All I need to know is how to get the attachment to load.  It seems that something is blocking of upload.  I'd appreciate any help on this.
