Displacement of 10g windows server 2003 to 11g windows server 2012

Hi all

I installed oracle database 10g r2 32-bit on 32-bit windows server.

I want this database to the next server.

Windows server 2012 64-bit with Oracle database 11g r2 64 bit.

How to do this?

Currently 11 GR 2 is not taken in charge/certified on Win 2012 - so you will not be able to perform this migration/upgrade

  • Update 10g R1 WIN 2003 enter (no - asm) 11g R2 WIN 2008 enter ASM

    Hello

    My line manager initially asked me to investigate this:

    upgrade all databases 10g R1 (std) to 11g R1 (std) in win 2003 enter the environment. I tried using VM, no problem.

    Line manager back, changed his request:

    upgrade all databases 10g R1 (std) to 11g R2 (enter) in win 2008 enter the environment. For more, using a single instance of the DSO. NOT A CLUSTER.

    Don't know what to do... my idea was...

    Old server - 10g R1; Win 2003
    install oracle 11g R2 software
    upgrade of databases

    New server - 11g R2; Win 2008; Grid

    What should I do next?

    all comments most welcome...

    Pump configuration data.
    Check first to output dir as data pump always have to run on the server (run as a job) and output must go to a db Server directory.

    sys@MYDB> select * from dba_directories where directory_name = 'DATA_PUMP_DIR';

    If no results or the need to go since you won't need a lot of space for a full dump.

    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY DATA_PUMP_DIR AS '/u01/idontknow/admin/dpdump';

    To create a dump to the db from the source I use settings files to run expdp.
    for example

    oracle@server~> expdp parfile=expdp-FULL.par

    expdp - FULL.par file contains:

    USERID=system/yourpwd@YOURSID
    FULL=Y
    DIRECTORY=DATA_PUMP_DIR
    DUMPFILE=YOURSID_20101118_full.dmp
    LOGFILE=YOURSID_20101118-expdp.log

    This file is created on the source system.
    I move the dump to DATA_PUMP_DIR desitnation of the server
    and using import

    oracle@server~> impdp parfile=impdp-FULL.par

    Impdp settings file is similar

    USERID=system/yourpwd@YOURSID
    FULL=Y
    DIRECTORY=DATA_PUMP_DIR
    DUMPFILE=YOURSID_20101118_full.dmp
    LOGFILE=YOURSID_20101118-impdp.log

    You can get help from the settings with

    expdp help=y
    impdp help=y

    Good luck!

    Hi all

    Currently, I use the windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise SP2 with AD, DNS and DHCP server. I want migration of these services to new fresh Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard machine. I migrate to active directory after this statement: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/22249.migrate-active-directory-from-windows-server-2003-r2-to-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx, he gets with success, but the IP configuration on the source server not migrated to the destination server. So, all of you know that why the source server IP configuration cannot migrate to the destination server?

    Help please give me an advice.

  • Windows Server 2012 - create the existing Windows Server 2003 domain controller.

    Hello.

    I am currently working on adding a domain controller Windows Server 2012 and field existing Windows 2003.  My current domain controller (Server 2003) had a level of functiontional of Windows 2000 server, when I first tried to add the server DC 2012.  I changed the functional level of the domain on the Server 2003 Windows 2003 (it is the only domain controller in the tree).  When I try to add the Server Server 2012, he reports that this domain is a Windows 2000 domain.  I checked and restarted the 2003 server.  Does anyone know why the 2012 still sees the field as 2000 functional level?

    Yes, it is possible to make them together.
    In cases where the port 1521 is busy, try 1522.

  • Customers light rdp to windows server 2012

    Hello

    I have a client with a Windows Server 2003 32-bit server acting as a mail server & DC, but also make nightly backups.

    Users run desktop computers as well as laptops at the office, with some of them (sometimes) connect to the network from remote locations.

    I am currently looking at upgrading their environment, in upgrading the server to 64-bit Windows 2012 and add Thin Clients for desktop users, so they can connect directly to the server that will help reduce overhead costs (such as the failure of HARD drive on desktop computers).

    The question I have is if this Setup will work? Basically, I'm interested in Windows Server 2012 Server Essentials or Standard 64-bit with the necessary amount of RDP CAL this server will run exactly as the server running from 2003, in what will be the domain controller, Exchange server & perform nightly backups. In addition to this, I want to install MS Office with the necessary quantity of licenses.
    However, I would like to know if it will work or if I am looking at a catch which will prevent users to connect to the server? Or office giving problems if Word is open for a user, it will not be open for the user to one another (the same issue with Outlook & Excel etc.)?

    If there is no potential problem that prevents this configuration to work, can someone please point out to me what will be the problem and if there is a solution?

    TIA

  • WinRAR command line tools do not check an executable Windows Server 2012

    Hi all

    I have developed a VI in LabVIEW 8.6 using WinRAR command line tools (passed in the Exec.vi system) to archive data that takes place on 5 different computers on a network and stores on a server .rar files.  Executable file of the VI works perfectly on my computer (WinXP) development.  The data from each of the 5 machines are archived and .rar files are stored on the server.  However, when I move the executable on the server where the .rar files will be stored and run the executable file, the command window flashes on the screen as if WinRAR commands are running, but no data is archived on the server.  No errors are passed out of the Exec.vi of the system.  The server's operating system is Windows Server 2012 and I placed the Rar and UnRAR .exe in the folder system32 on the server.  The server firewall is disabled, and he is able to explore at the location of the data to arhived.  The server is logged in as a domain administrator account.

    Here is an example of one of the commands in command line that I spend in the Exec.vi system:

    cmd /c rar a - m5 \\selsacn11\viscom\selsvis01\15\07\20.rar \\selsvis01\Rep0\Archiv\15\07\20

    When I manually type this command in the command line on the server, the data is stored properly.  The problem occurs when I run the executable on the server.

    I tried to work around the problem by creating a batch of files containing the command above, then using the Exec.vi system to call this batch file.  Yet once, when I manually run the batch file, it works correctly, but when Exec.vi system in a LabVIEW executable file runs the command on the server file, I get the same result as described above - no data are archived on the server.  This batch file works on my development computer and on my laptop to the company.

    My only thought is that there is a problem with the access rights.  So far, the executable works fine on an older server (Windows Server 2003), the development computer (Win XP) and my laptop (Win7) company, but the executable archive not the data on the Server 2012 server or on another computer running WIndows 7.  I have all these machines connected under the same domain administrator account, but COMPUTER networks are certainly above my head, so I wanted to check here if anyone has seen this problem with WinRAR or the Exec.vi system.

    Thanks for any info!

    Success!

    Darin, I took your suggestions and after some more fighting with him, I have an error Code 2 on the Exec.vi system.  This led me in search of the forums where I fell on the following:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/problem-using-quot-MSG-quot-command-with-quot-system-exec-VI/m-p/153...

    Of course, all the machines that had been able to run the executable file are 32-bit.  All the machines that could not run the executable are a 64 bit system.  I placed the Rar.exe in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder on the server and it works exactly as expected today.

    I fought with this for weeks, so I'm a little disappointed that it was something so simple, but I'm very happy to have finally work!

    Thank you all very much for the help!

  • Windows Server 2012 on PowerEdge 2800

    I have a PowerEdge 2800 with a PERC 4e/Di controller that I use as a computer lab.  It had Windows Server 2008 R2 installed (that is, x 64), and today I wiped and attempted to install Windows Server 2012 GTR.  Guess what?  There is no support drivers for this system with 2012 GTR.  I remember well, driver support has been included with 2008 R2.  After some digging around, I could download the driver for Windows Server 2003 x 64 on the Dell site, and now I have an installation of 2012.  Seriously, how lame is that?

    It did take a lot of effort for the Member States to include support for PE 2800 drivers and similar systems of older, but very capable, especially since the drivers already exist in most cases.  FWIW, it doesn't look like 2012 supports the 2900 PE, that is almost a dinosaur.  Or how about Dell in extending the life of these systems with a few driver updates?

    Get up to speed on important new BONE is a very big company on several levels.  Should we go buy all new material too, just to a lab eval?  There are thousands of COMPUTER stores with older, but very capable, systems that we spent a lot of $$$ on.  Provision of these systems a new OS allows people like me make me learn and test the new operating system with virtually no disbursements.  It's a win-win.  Unfortunately, the vendors are very short in this area.

    Anyway, if you are looking to get 2012 running on the PE 2800, try the W2K3 driver.

    2008 (not R2) had native drivers for the PERC 4e/Di, but 2008 R2 doesn't have (Microsoft has removed the native support for devices SCSIport - go ahead, these devices will not be taken out-of-the-box support of Microsoft).

    Dell does not yet sell Server 2012 and they have yet to publish all the necessary drivers for that, but R2 2008 drivers should better work:

    www.Dell.com/.../PowerEdge-2800

    More information - it is currently valid internally on 9G systems and newer, but drivers have not yet been released; not clear if they will press 8G (which does not necessarily mean that it will not work):

  • ML6000 not detected in Windows Server 2012

    Hello

    Our ML6000 is not detected by a new Windows Server 2012 host. It is not found in the Device Manager. However, the 3 SAS LTO 5 inside drives are detected properly.

    It used to be connected only to a Windows 2003 R2 server and is detected without problem. When you are connected to the Server 2003, it originally had 3 SCSI LTO 3 drives.

    For testing and comparison, we place 6 all readers in the library and connected the SCSI 3 Server 2003 R2 and the 3 SAS drives on the server of 2012.

    However, the library is not detected on the 2012. It is detected by the machine of 2003. The two hosts can access the console GUI library.

    The only difference I see between the 2 servers, is that the 2012 server does not have a SCSI card, there is no cable SCSI goes in. But I guess that SCSI connections are just to detect the readers and not the library itself

    What we missed? What type of connection the library should be on the server of 2012 to have detected it in the Device Manager?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    To use 2 hosts and have 3 drives on each you will have to partition the library and create libraries of logic 2. You put 3 discs each and set a path control for each partition. The path of control allows the host to communicate with the library through its interface scsi or sas.

  • After moving to Windows server 2012 VPN connection error

    Hello world!

    Recently, I upgraded my Windows Server 2003 SB server to a new server running Windows Server 2012.

    I started from scratch by creating a new domain, user, accounts etc.

    The new server is using the same IP address as the old server.

    Since then, I can't connect through the VPN. I have already added the role of remote access on the new server.

    When I try to connect to my Windows 7 laptop, I get this error:

    "Error 800: the remote connection does not because attempts VPN tunnels failed." The VPN server is maybe inaccessible. "If this connection tries to use an L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the security settings required for IPsec negotiation is may not configured properly."

    Any help with this is appreciated.

  • Problem after 10g to the conversion of 11g with access ODBC application connection.

    We have recently updated one of our databases Oracle 10.2.0.4 on 11.2.0.4.0.  We used Data Pump export of database 10g and the new database 11g Data Pump import.  Everything went well.  We have several users who use an Access database with an ODBC connection to our Oracle database.  We installed 11g on their PC client and install the tnsnames file to point to the new database 11g.  We have a configuration read only account that everyone uses to connect to the Oracle11g database through the Access application.  We have a user who gets an error, even if this computer has been installed just like everyone elses.  She becomes an odbc error, that the account is locked.  I had the read-only account on our database 10g locked, so everyone would be forced to use the 11g database, because we could not completely stop the 10g database.  We have searched the c:\ drive and you can find 1 tnsnames file and it is directed to the new database 11g.  However when we unlock the account read-only on the 10g database, access works very well.  It is as if she is always directed to the 10g database, but we cannot find any link to it.  This user can also connect another pc that the ODBC connection to server 11g works with the access application and it does not work with them connected.  Any help would be appreciated!

    Our resolution is a slight reorganization of elements of Oracle in the Environment Variable Path in system settings Desktop/Properties/Advanced to ensure that the proper path containing the precise tnsnames.ora file was represented was just what he needed.
