I found that the problem for me was having my active AVG toolbar. I suspected that might be the problem since AVG recently had me update the toolbar. I disable to send an email and give the rest of the time. It's a pain, but significantly less pain that not knowing the question.

Get "Windows could not obtain the list of devices from Windows Update, please try again later"
Trying to load the printer driver for HP DeskJet 990c on Win7 64-bit (Intel i7 - 2640M). All online sources, including HP say pilot is available by clicking on "Windows Update" in the install printer driver dialog box. In doing so, always get message "Windows could not obtain the list of devices from Windows Update, please try again later".
Windows Update is set to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them".Downloaded and extract full X 86 driver catalog (X 86 - all - 4189_1228a7cf7b1aac21346b20cb6e21db409dde9e72.cab) from the Windows Update site http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspxcatalog. 'Disc', stated in the dialog of the printer driver install and selected prnhp001. INF, received immediatelt message this specified folder does not compatible device driver.Also tried to do the same thing with the IA64 catalog (IA64-all - 4190_6e0f85bb67d0038a6406fc71b777a1906a87888c.cab), not surprisingly has the same result.Also tried to do the same thing with the AMD64 catalogue (AMD64-all - 4188_bacd1413e93b4a6362d9a2ca653c869f1c02f6f7.cab) and curiously that appear additional list catalog successfully. Firefox 3.6.3 will not play integrated youtube videos. It comes up with ' year error occurred please try again later. " It happens all the time. If you click to go to youtube the clip plays.

Well, here's my answer to my own post.
After reading some posts here about possible solutions, I tried to delete all the cookies for YouTube (Tools > options > privacy > show cookies > youtube.com). Then tested on a site with integrated video would not play before and on YouTube directly - both worked!
The poster with the suggestion of cookies also proposed changes to the 'exceptions', but it was not necessary at least for me.

I have windows xp 32-bit. I have a LifeCam VX-1000. I do not have the CD, but when I plugged it the first time, Microsoft Wizard found the driver and installed it without a problem.
Ran fine for 2 months, then I plugged it in today, I got the "new hardware found". First OFF... what happened to the driver? I have not installed anything new. And then, it will not re-intsaller driver. He invites me for a CD when I try to update the driver through the Device Manager, and when I try to run LifeCam 3.22, I've downloadedMicrosoft , he says "Setup cannot continue because the downloaded file was not signed digitally by Microsoft. "Please try again later." WTF? I downloaded from microsoft. How could he not be digitally signed by microsoft?

So I tried to get this to work at least for a day now, but whenever I try to launch my new game I'm away I kept getting this error: "your DirectX Runtime is up-to-date. Download and install this file from Microsoft. ' When I was re-directed I downloaded, it opens and clicks on agreed and all this things, but after 10 seconds initialization, it gave me this error: "Setup could not download the file. Please try again later or check the connection to the network. " I checked all that nothing seemed to be wrong, I did it again and again and again. So I just went to a solution or any news for DirectX. So far, no luck.
I am running on DirectX 11 right now, is if there is a new DirectX or am I a jerk, and that is a different problem? I can't understand it.
