DisplayPort Alienware 15 problem

I just had time to connect my 15 AW at my monitor and found that the DisplayPort is not working properly.  Connected via DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort, the laptop screen falls to resolution 1024 x 768 and nothing appears on the monitor (ASUS VG248QE).  The control panel display reports that the monitor is connected.  Once I unplug the cable, the computer screen back to 1920 x 1080.

Strangely, if I use one-adapter mini DisplayPort to HDMI, two screens work very well.  I even tried the mini-DP DP on my Mac and it works fine on the same monitor.

Any ideas?  I tried to reinstall the drivers of Intel.

THIS MARKET!

I tried one more thing.  I tried to force install the latest drivers from the Intel site which requires that you uninstall the version of Dell.  After uninstalling, I rebooted and Windows automatically later installed himself.  So, I plugged in and it works.  I am able to use 144 Hz, as well.

Thanks for all the help.

  • DisplayPort U2713HM frustrating problem

I just got a new Dell U2713HM monitor and tried to connect it via cable DisplayPort 1.2 from a PC brand new.

The monitor says "No DVI not connected" and enters a power saving Mode.

    Symptoms:

1 connect only DP of PC from Dell U2713HM-> monitor goes into power saving (and on no detected DVI companing) Mode

    2. connect only Dell U2713HM-> DVI monitor to the PC up to 1920 X 1080 display resolution (not enough and clumsy to be honest)

3 - connect the DP and DVI simultaneously - monitor behaves strangely. He blows a small portion of the screen, so you can't see the other parts of the screen. I can see the mouse moving through. Right-click on the screen and go "Screen Resolution" displays a maximum resolution of 2560 X 1440, but I get to use it and it does not change this mode of supply.

This seems to be a problem in the new range of Dell of whose very disappointing for this superb rather monitor.

No idea how to solve this problem?

I have corrected the problem. In fact, it was not a problem, but rather a configuration problem.

Go to Dell menu and set the display Port input source (it is not detected automatically)

  • 15 Alienware keyboard problem

Some time ago I spilled water on my laptop and it has made its way to the motherboard. I took apart, it dried, cleaned with rubbing alcohol and it ended up working again. Back to its former glory. HOWEVER, now I notice some problems with the keys on the keyboard. "A" and "S" are both come if I press one of them individually, and there are similar problems with the keys 'P' and 'back '.
It is, I can disassemble the laptop again and fix this somehow, or it's a situation where I have to replace the keyboard completely?
    Any advice?

    Hello

I guess you could try to dismantle the system and make sure that the keyboard is installed. If this is the case, it may be better to send it in for repair.

  • Driver Nvidia Alienware M15X problem

HI, I recently updated my system with a Nvidia G560M and done a clean install of windows (format), but, when I go to download the driver on the website www.nvidia.com says:

The manufacturer of this system requires that download you the driver for your GPU from their support site.

I searched the driver page, but found nothing, any help? Thanks in advance.

Hi David, I don't think that the GTX560M has been 'validated' for the M15x - but I could be wrong.

If I'm right, when you try to use the AutoDiscovery of Nvidia, you will get an error. This also applies if you try to install the Dell or Nvidia graphics driver.

Both your M15x and the GTX560M device ID, when you try to install a graphics driver the looks of first driver and your computer device ID, then your graphics device ID card and then look at its records to see if they have been posted, if it does not find the TWO the ID it's files, then it will not install , so what you have to do is a couple of quick mod to this file inside the driver and your all good

You will need to learn about how to change the 'INF' file inside the graphics drivers, seems complicated, but after you have done once this takes 5 minutes

You must change the file to your computer, the file of your GPU and the file for your operating system.

Here is a link to some sites you will get. Some of them already have changed the files available for download, but recently I had problems with those who does not so I do it myself, but at the very least, they are good as a reference.

  • Desktop HP Pavilion p620y needs of 2560 x 1600 PCIe 2.0 x 16 DisplayPort video card

    Hi all

I bought a HP Pavilion p6210y PC November 1, 2009;  and also, just bought a new monitor 30 inches of HP ZR30w which displays 2560 x 1600 (4 megapixels). To use it, I have to buy a new video card in 2560 x 1600 PCIe 2.0 x 16 DisplayPort. No problem, there are many like that high-end gaming cards. However, I am not a "Gamer" and do not need the performance beyond its high-end business use, a few Blue-ray movies and occasional sports coverage. This need corresponds to the remaining available power of 300 watts of p6210y power supply.

I have set up a 'power budget' for the new disks and memory that I bought, which gives me a power rating of base to work since I sail PCIe 2.0 x 16 DisplayPort video cards. However, I was not able to locate an estimate of drain of power for the "configuration of the showroom" Pavilion p6210y PC base that I bought in 2009. Can someone help me find this number, or show me how to estimate it? I need just an approximate number to work with.

I do not have the number of the power you want, but we have here on the forum use the power required by the manufacturer.  Here is a video card that should work on your computer:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814130795 & cm_re=evga_gt640-_-14-130-795-_-Product

However, it requires a power supply (PSU) with 350W.  You can find this information in the specifications tab.

Many newer cards need UEFI instead of a standard BIOS.  These cards will not work in your computer.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • X 200 + ban crash with external screen connected with Displayport

Hello, I am new to this community, and I hope you can help me with my problem. I just have to move on to Windows 7 Pro and it is already driving me crazy. I use a Lenovo X 200 with my ban. I connect the laptop to an external monitor via DisplayPort. The Intel GM45 driver crashes about twice a minute when the laptop is docked and connected to the external monitor. All the screens turn black and subsequently a message appears that says "Intel Graphics Accelerator for XP (R) has stopped responding and has recovered". Sometimes the laptop crashes and restarts. That gets really annoying and I have not found a solution. BIOS version is 3.20. I loaded the latest driver Intel Graphics of the Lenovo Webpage (8.15.10.2302) with Windows 7 SP1 (all updates installed). When I use a standard windows driver and not the driver Intel external screen flickers black every minute once. The latest Intel driver (from the Intel website) does not, because it is said that he is not released for my laptop. Concerning

I just got the Displayport-DVI adapter and it works without any problem.

    Thanks for your comments.

I'm still confused why the real Displayport connection causes problems, but DVI is ok too.

  • Problem of two - VGA and Displayport monitors

    Hello

We have recently purchased a number of machines Thinkcentre M58 and have problems to make two monitors to work with these machines. We are setting them up with a monitor to the VGA port and a 2nd monitor connected to via a Displayport adapter Displayport to VGA dongle.

The problem is that the 2nd monitor on Displayport don't wake up. MESSAGE appears on the monitor 1, and when Windows has loaded, only the 1st monitor displays a screen, while the 2nd monitor remains in mode 'sleep'.

In display settings, it is possible to activate the 2nd monitor, how he wakes up and the user can continue to use both screens. If the user stops or restarts the machine it takes to manually activate the 2nd monitor whenever they connect.

The same thing happens on Windows XP and Windows 7 computers, and I also tried to use a number of different instructors, who all have the same problem.

Someone else had problems to get the 2nd monitor on the Displayport works correctly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Phil

Make sure that you set the main display on the displayport device and then connect your vga port.

  • X 220 problems and displayport

Hi, I have the Planar: PX2710MW monitor and I have used with my lenovo X 220 for about two months now. He worked until I had to disable the trackpad in the BIOS. When I changed the BIOS return option, the computer will recognize is no longer my monitor. I tried the monitor on other computers and it works, so I think that the displayport could have been damaged. Unfortunately, I have no other computers with a displayport, so I can't check if it's the graphics port card or display port of the laptop. Is there a way I can check if the displayport works or is there a solution to my problem? Thank you.

It was a damaged displayport to HDMI. Today, I received my new converter and it works fine now. Thank you!

  • Problem updating display on Alienware Area-51 m15X Vista drivers

Hello. Recently, I had a virus on my Alienware Area-51 m15X. It finally did my restore my computer to its factory site. Most of the drivers was missing. I reinstalled my wireless card driver and the graphics driver, but the graphics driver does not work correctly. I uninstalled and went on the Web from NVIDIA site to reinstall the appropriate driver, and it still doesn't work right. I used Driver Sweeper to clean all the files on my HARD drive that are associated with the NVIDIA device in safe mode. I reinstalled all the and restarted my computer and I still get the error message. I can't send it because it is not under the manufacturer's warranty, and I have little money to send it to Best Buy Geek Squad. Please, if there is a way to solve this problem, even though it requires the formatting of my HARD drive, I'll be ready to do so.

I solved the problem. For future use, if you own an Alienware or use the NVIDIA 8600 M GT card, uninstall the driver using Device Manager and use the driver Sweeper to remove all traces of the driver. Once this done, do not restart, but go on the alienware website and download the NVIDIA driver (you must know your operating system, ect. ect. for the driver) and install it. Windows will say that his signature is unreadable. Click on install anyway. reboot and your laptop must be as new :D

Download streaming Dota2 took me 14 hours, only 120 - 500 kb/s. I can confirm that this is not my router or my internet problem, because my roommate has not faced this problem with the MSI. Everyone is fine with the connection, but just me facing the problem. It seems that the wifi connection is not stable.

I have checked through many test of connection speed, it's worse to my roommate. using the command "ping check" my ping is around 240ms-600ms without any download or steam. • Alienware 17 R3, 15 R2, R2 13 not turning on the problem (the reason + FIX)

Many people including me have exactly the same problem where their Alienware Laptop lights once you stop him for no reason at all. Now, people DO NOT panic! There is nothing wrong with your hardware. The laptop is perfectly fine. What is causing this issue is the BIOS they come out (1.2.12, 1.2.13, 1.2.14) these BIOS cause this problem ive never had an issues before on the latest bios of 2015 that was installed on the Alienware when I bought it until I've updated the above bios. Alienware I please ask you to not release a bios that would cause problems to people and please do some intensive tests before releasing anything. The sticky on the forum here has fixed the problem though, but he may return.

This will solve your problem, it is said in this link install BIOS 1.2.13 or more, BUT DO NOT, and instead when the computer turns on after you follow the instructions for the fix mentioned in the link below, download BIOS 1.2.8 and install it, then 1.2.8 after you won't have the problem more.

1.2.8 is BIOS, I recommend to all install on their computers laptops alienware

  • Alienware 18/w 2 x GTX 980 M 8 GB problems SLI - 8 beeps and no video now detected

    Hey everybody,

    I picked up a 'is' 18 with 2 x GTX 980 m 8 GB cards discreet alienware.

When you first start up, I got the dreaded "8 beeps" and a black screen.

I did a lot of online guides, and all said that one or two video cards must be bad.

So, I opened it and removed the two cards and then tried to turn on without all video cards, which works 100% great.

I think I tried put 1 card in slot 1, and turns, but in BIOS, Manager devices, GPUz etc, the video card is not detected.

I tried the same thing with Slot 2 only and the same problem.

I also tried to reinstall just the two and I still had 8 beeps.

These video cards are worth about $500 + each, so I'd like to find a way to at least get a job if possible.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Thank you!

Both cards video with SLI cable, everything works correctly! Wow!

For all those who come to this page, here is my best explanation of what was the fix:

Remove the battery, remove the video cards, maybe reinstall OS, replace the battery so that the video cards are out, update BIOS to later restore the default BIOS settings, reinstall the video card (1 at a time).

  • Resolution of U2414H DisplayPort Daisy Chain/STD problem

    Hello

I have what seems to be a common problem with no solution on these pages; with DisplayPort STD.

I had two of these Dell monitors over the weekend and spent about 3 hours trying to get STD to work with them. I arrived later, and they have worked fine for about 36 hours.

In this time my computer restarted two times without any problem. However, this morning I had upward, turned and suddenly the second (end of my STD string) string is not recognized as an instructor. It shows my desktop, but only at 640 x 480. AMD Catalyst can see it, but refers to it as 'No Display connected.

My setup is a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 feeding these two Dells (on a single string of DP STD), a Compaq Q2022a on HDMI and a DVI. The first dell also has a USB Bluetooth stick and WiFi USB dongles plugged, and the second dell USB tire this is the capacity of the first. Both worked absolutely fine when I went to bed, and this morning, the second in the chain was not.

I am looking to buy up to four more of them for a tri-moniteur stacked configuration, but I need them to be more reliable before I can justify spending that much! I love the thin bezel and STD is a must for the configuration I want, but reliability is essential too, I don't want to spend an hour a day fixing everything...

    Thank you

For anyone interested, my workaround is the following:

-Unplug the monitor two monitor one

    -Disable STD on monitor 1

-STD re - activate the monitor 1

-Reconnect the monitor 2 in 1

-Hold the power for about 8 seconds on Monitor 2

Seems to work after having done this, not.
Of course, a better solution would be for Dell to realize they sold a product of poor quality, do a recall and get fixed them correctly. This is currently my only product of Dell and if this is how their quality control, I certainly won't be getting more.
