Do 5 GHz default AC?

I received a 6th generation Airport Extreme for Christmas. This router supports the 802.11 Protocol ac as the fact my iMac and 6 Apple TV iPhone 4th generation. I find that these devices will be usually connects to the 2.4 Ghz signal when turned on and not the 5 GHz signal where AC transmission exist. In particular, I would like my iMac and ATV4 to communicate at the AC level for better streaming home sharing.

I created a name for the network of 5 GHz. was it a mistake? Is there a way to ensure that a device connects to the 5 GHz signal? Once turned on the machines in question can be easily switch to the 5 GHz network... manually.

Someone can give information me on the functioning of these routers dual band with respect to the protocol 802.11ac?

I created a name for the network of 5 GHz. was it a mistake?

No, because it is really the only way that you can 'force' a wireless device to connect to the 5 GHz signal.

Is there a way to ensure that a device connects to the 5 GHz signal?

On the iMac...

Open the preferences system (gear on the dock icon)

Open network

Click WiFi on the left panel to select

Click Advanced in the bottom right of the window

Here you will see a list of networks to which your iMac has connected in the past. If you want to connect to the 5 GHz as first choice or preference... network the iMac then you should make sure that the name of the 5 GHz range is the first at the top of the connection order list. If this isn't the case, then drag it to the top of the list.

While you're here, if you see the names of all the networks that you no longer need... click on the network name to select it, and then click the - (less) button at the bottom of the list.

Once you have made the settings that you need, click OK

Then, click on apply in the next window

Restart the iMac and it should connect automatically to the 5 GHz network

Things are different with regard to the establishment of priorities on a device like an iPhone or an iPad iOS. After the back if you need this information.

Someone can give information me on the functioning of these routers dual band with respect to the protocol 802.11ac?

To take advantage of the "ac" to the new router wireless features... you must have a device capable of "ac" to receive full benefits. Otherwise, the device will connect to the best signal as possible. The "ac" signal is present on the 5 GHz network, so if you have a device capable of "ac", you want to set up to connect to the 5 GHz network.

    Hello!

I just bought Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi.
I have the router Cisco Linksys E4200.

    I have activate 5 GHz on E4200.

I have disable 2.4 GHz on E4200 to be sure that the tablet will connect at 5 GHz.

But, in doing so, the Tablet does not have wifi.

Someone managed to connect at 5 GHz with this router and this Tablet?

    Thank you very much!

Set the 5 GHz band on the router to a single, 20 MHz, and channel 36.

Search for again the 5 GHz SSID.

I guess it comes tab or the router and a band 5 GHz default radio.

  • What MacBook Pro is better for my situation?

    Hello, guys.

Could you please help me decide which MacBook Pro is the best for my situation?

Currently, I chose between these models:

    • MacBook Pro 15 "2.2 GHz / RAM 16 / 256 GB of storage / Iris Pro
    • MacBook Pro 15 "(2.8) of 2.5 GHz / RAM 16 / 256 GB of storage / Iris Pro"
    • MacBook Pro 15 "2.5 GHz / RAM 16 / 512 GB of storage / AMD Radeon R9 M370X (2 GB)

    I'll use the laptop for:

    • Webdesign. I work in Photoshop all day and it was sometimes messy (major projects, many of those open simultaneously, etc..). Theoretically, I would like for my laptop to be able to handle perfectly Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign workflow, maybe even at the same time. Of course, all will be loaded up for the most part, but it should be imperceptible to work on projects of large size in Photoshop runs alone.
    • Audio engineering. Recording/mixing/mastering audio as a hobby, which may require use of the processor 4 do. My current laptop (2.3 GHz Dual Core Intel i5 - 2410 M) cannot manage even the basics of what I need for comfort work with audio. Usually it is around 10-15 tracks, stock and third-party plugins sometimes. I omit the part that the new laptop should have completely no problems with recording audio through audio interface (no cracks, dents, noises and other things caused by lack of CPU and RAM). I guess that each of these three Mac is capable of a fluent audio recording, the question arises on the comfortable audio processing in the future.
    • Navigation. I know that sounds ridiculous, but there are times that my laptop current can't live through an intense session of navigation. About 20-25 tabs with mixed content (text for most, a couple of video opened online). I use Google Chrome, which is quite noticeable on the CPU, but it's my personal preference in terms of browser.
    • Web development. I would like to be able to make everything about web development fast and easy. That shouldn't be the problem, since even my laptop current meets my needs developing. Just let it be worth mentioning.

Given the above information, I can make a conclusion that I need:

    • Retina display, press each tiny pixel on the screen of work related to graphic design
    • Reasonably fast CPU and RAM

Initially, the more powerful MacBook Pro (with default 2.5 GHz and AMD video card) seemed like a logical option. However, after reading about the AMD video card I noticed that it is still lower than the average of those on the market (judging on the benchmark). Therefore, it seems that there is no reason to pay more for just a video card, comparing to the stack by default a cheaper model (the 15 "MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz/256 GB of storage). 0.3 GHz of processor is imperceptible, and the lack of hard disk space may be justified by external USB storage or by configuring the cheaper model for more storage by itself. The main difference is the video card. Please, correct me if I'm wrong on this conclusions.

Therefore, I came to decide what configuration is best with regard to the less expensive version of the MacBook Pro 15 ", the 2.2 GHz (default) or 2.5/2.8 GHz (configured). Consider the following:

    • I'm dependent on a budget; slice of 100 dollars, in fact, issue
    • My priority is a seamless workflow without any freeze for 5 minutes and loading/closing time take up to 10 minutes, as it does now
    • It is not important if a graphic/audio project takes longer to make, but it is important to work freely during production
    • I don't mind having an external USB storage, as long as he has a decent read/write speed (external USB flash are available for Macs, right?)
    • Design or audio are not my original recipes, rather a freelance opportunities or leisure

I'd be really grateful if you could answer some of these questions and help me decide:

    • If I had to choose between 2.2 GHz to 2.8 GHz boost or 256 GB of storage on 512 GB, which is more reasonable storage boost?
    • Is there a really significant difference in the performance of the tasks that have been mentioned between 2.2 GHz and 2.5 GHz/2.8 GHz?
    • No AMD video card makes a huge difference in terms of working with graphics? (Of course, he does, but it would be nice to take a look at the difference in the form of a chart or a reference; if it is not dramatic, then pay more for the video card makes no sense for me)
    • Then Iris Pro (which comes with 2.2 GHz cheaper option) handle some minor games like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3? Not necessary on ultra or high settings, but on those that make the game playable and enjoyable. (Is not necessary, but it would have been a considerable advantage, because even though I'm not a hardcore gamer, it's nice to play some old games favorite from time to time)

Thanks for your opinions and suggestions!

If you select I would recommend 512 GB drive. Media projects can become very large, and I suspect that you also like to have pictures of the reserve, textures, etc available all the time. I'm not a professional graphic designer, but I create brochures and documents as well as videos of 15-20 minutes and on a 256 GB drive I will decide on a project, move everything turned off, and then start a new project. Sometimes, when I had several projects going at the same time I had to decide which awkward solution was the best.

Video Intel Iris Pro is better than I expected and I can play Diablo 3 on my MBP to 2015 on higher than smaller settings. I always use CS 5.5 because I refuse to rent my graphics software, so I don't know the State of the current Adobe software but I know that some users are griping on the 3D graphics and lower end GPU processors. I suggest you check out the Adobe forums.

  • How can I make my 5 GHz network by default for wiring, instead of my 2.4 gHz?

I have the E4200. I have two networks, a 2.4 for the internet and a 5 GHz for the media. I want to have a wired connection to the 5 GHz as some media network is on my PC. However, it seems that I have only a wired connection to the 2.4 gHz network. Is it possible to do this?

Thanks for helping out a silent NEWB. I get the * beep * stamp for that matter!

  • iPhone 5 only connects very well with 5 Ghz Wifi

    Hi all

After trying Beta iOS10 I 'come back' iOS9 and I discovered that my iPhone 5 will not connect very well to 2 .4GHz wireless networks. The problem is that the iPhone or do access or has a very poor connectivity, so that I can use this wifi perfectly with my iPad or Macbook.

However this iPhone connects perfectly to Wifi 5 GHz networks and works as it should.

I tried to reset, restore the default values, reinstall iOS... any suggestions?

    Hello iovin80,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I know having a problem connecting to the Wi - Fi on your iPhone, it's not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you cannot connect to the network 2.4 GHz Wi - Fi, but the 5 GHz channel works very well. I suggest to test it on another Wi - Fi network to see if the problem is resolved. You should also check the recommended settings to avoid any interference in the present statutes:

Potential sources of Wi - Fi and Bluetooth interference
Recommended settings for the WiFi routers and access points

    See you soon!

  • 5 alley, 2.4 ghz still work?

I have a Time Capsule 2 GB race at the beginning of 2009 7.6.7. He was a soldier for many years and saved my bacon at least once. Now he won't pass on 2.4 ghz more. He thinks he does, I can select a channel or let him; It reports no errors. But no devices can see this base station.

I can connect to the network 5 GHz without problem. Everything works as it should. but I also have devices 2.4 alone in the House that are now less internet. Before I reset the unit and risk losing my backups, or replace it altogether, is there something else to try?

Very rare 5 GHz to work at 2.4 GHz is not, but it can happen if the 2.4 GHz radio left.

On everything you can do at this point is try resetting the Capsule of time to return to the default settings and then set up again to see if that would help.

Reset time Capsule will not affect your backups. Only network settings are reset when you perform a default reset.

The real issue here is perhaps an average useful life of a time Capsule is about 3 years, so if the product works well since 2009, you did much better than the rest of us.

  • MBP 17 inch 2.5 GHz end 2011 video-questions

    Good day to you all.

    Confusion serious, for me anyway.

There are and have had problems with the AMD Radeon HD 6750 M and HD 6770 M graphics cards. Suddenly distorted video, random reboots, odd shaped and colored stalls artefarcts etc., in the start of the end.

I happen to have one of those affected Mbps, a late 2011 model, 17-inch core i7, 2.5 GHz, the model identifier MacBookPro8, 3, model number A1297, EMC 2564. It's still fully usable, nothing wrong, but who could, not necessarily expected or, will come to an abrupt end as many owners, some of my friends have known and display these columns.

The site of Apple "MacBook Pro repair Extension program for video Issues" (https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/), I learned:

    products concerned:

    • models of MacBook Pro 15 inch and 17 inch made in 2011.

    • MacBook Pro 15 inch with retina models made from mid-2012-beginning 2013

I walked to my S/N MBP, it turns out that my MBP is no longer covered.

MacTracker 7.5.5 I learn that the MBP A1297 introduced in October 2011 and abandoned by June 2012.

Repair of Apple (for models non-retine) program talks about the models made in 2011.

My question: how about the models made between January and June, 2012?

Something has been changed or modified in order to get rid of the problems of graphics cards? Something like, say, update motherboard, graphics, a radiator, redesigned, more powerful fans?

For me, it's quite confusing, via this link www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html, I discovered that my MBP 17 inch out of the Assembly line the 5th week of 2012, factory C0, Quanta Computer China. I'm not the first buyer, I don't know who it was, or when it was first purchased.

What I worry, in other words is my MBP 'off-the-hook '?

Could someone shine some light in this?

With sincere greetings from continental Europe

    Khalid Hoogenbos

The original questions developed in some 2010 models with integrated graphics discrete AND who uses graphics switching. These have proved to finally have a DEFAULT MONSTER - a defect in the graphics chip itself. The problem was there from the moment when they were built, but itself has failed, until these Macs have been highlighted or installed the latest versions of Mac OS X.

In order to determine what was causing the growing pile of bad mothers replaced the field, Apple has developed the video switching Test (VST).

Trying to continue studying these issues, other issues appeared in some 2011 models. These were not the same hidden defects in the chips, but Apple has never revealed exactly what they were.

Some users suggested that they might have been problems with the excessive heat generated or process, such as the exact used solder type, or the amount the technique with which it has been applied, or all of this and more. You must be certain that all relevant updates have been applied, (if any) that these may affect cooling fan control.

When you see a reminder that is limited to a certain period of time, you can generally be assured that if your Mac does not fall within the time limits stipulated it is simply NOT submitted the issues addressed in the callback.

To be eligible for the reminder, your Mac must strictly comply with ALL requirements. It is a very small subset of users whose MacBook Pro of the time period appropriate have additional problems and will not start. They are NOT eligible for the free motherboard replacement, because they can not run (and therefore may not) the VST test.

  • Questions about my old Airport Extreme & 5 vs. 2.4 GHz

I have an older Airport Extreme. It's either a generation first or second - model A1143 (two generations had the same number, can't say that I have). But two of them said they sent either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz - either / or, but not at the same time, (which came on the next generation).

I have two questions: first, how can I tell who is sent to the and how are they passed? And second, if my Airport is on the second floor, but most use is on the first floor, which of the two should I use? I understand 2.4 is better for long distances, but did not know what is considered "long."

Not only he use to my Macbook and iPads, but also to an Apple TV, where the bandwidth, of course, is a matter of concern.

    Thank you very much!

    Phil in Chicago

I have two questions: first, how can I tell who is sent to the and how are they passed? And second, if my Airport is on the second floor, but most use is on the first floor, which of the two should I use?

    Looks like three questions.

Let's first find out which version of AirPort Extreme you have. I assume that you are running a recent operating system on the MacBook like El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, etc.

Open AirPort Utility (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Hold down the option on your MacBook while you double-click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

Glance to see what model you have... An Airport Extreme 802.11n (1st generation), or an AirPort Extreme 802.11n (2nd generation)

As soon as we have this info, we will you say a bit more on the model you have and how to check certain parameters of the airport you have.

By default, the A1143 airports are set up to provide a network of 2. 4 GHz, so unless you have changed the settings, your airport is send signals of 2.4 GHz.

5 GHz signals have the ability to speed faster than 2.4 GHz signals... but... 5 GHz signals are much weaker than the 2.4 GHz signals, 5 GHz works well when your wireless devices are in the same room as the Terminal AirPort, or they close a line-of-sight relationship with airport router.

Not much of a 5 GHz signal it will be through a ceiling, which is on average about 3 times more dense as normal in a House wall, if you still want to use 2.4 GHz on your network.

  • SatPro A60 can hardly operate at 2.8 GHz since problem of thermal regulation

Hey guys, a nightmare for A60, its CPU clock can hardly run at 2800 MHz, it is supposed, since 75 of the A60? Thermal regulation time is too easy to access.

Using the processor RightMard and Mobilemeter clock utilities, I found the temprature entry A60 to thermal regulation 75? When this temperature is reached, cpu clock slow down up to 1500 MHz (you can't see it using the normal test program, because Throttling is like cheating... that is to say force CPU to stop for some time in order to avoid overheating), and when temperatures rise less than 70?, he will return to 2800 MHz. Another delay: the auto-off temperature is 85? for A60.

Although the temperature which got the Mobilemeter is the sink, not the CPU core temperature, it seems that oshiba made this 75? Date limit too low (default time of Intel is probably about 90?). In addition, with evil designed sink heater, the temperature remained generally above 70-80? with room temperature 15? and only some word processing or navigation base and also with the machine almost free of dust. All this means that the laptop can hardly run at 2.8 GHz. You could never have this speed in any graphical game.

The real clock must be test using RightMark clock, it allows to test if the CPU is forced to stop frequently due to thermal regulation. Everyone wants to do this experience can download these two free software of:
    RMC(177Kb):
    http://CPU.RightMark.org/download/rmclock_18_bin.rar
    MobileMeter(40Kb):
    http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/release/0310/mm0310.zip

with SuperPI, who can make as high CPU temperature as you want opening it serval times at the same time
    http://ftp15.ENET.com.CN:88/pub/system/sysanaly/SuperPi-8.zip

Finally, my original idea to write about it here is not only to tell a truth, but also I want that people of Toshiba could do something on this issue, or do an updated bios updated to allow to off the thermal regulation, or make the deadline for her superior to only 75? ,
as you have about bios satellite 1805 last updated:

    Version 2.10 24/09/2002
A change has been made to allow only BIOS enable and disable the CPU limitation during the operation of Windows 98SE.

Give the original CPU speed, because that's the only reason I and a few other people chose this machine.

    Hi Al

Well, I put t know if you have experience in the technology of the laptop but heat is a known issue on all laptops. It s a fact that all the parts (Cpu, graphics card, etc.) in the unit produce a lot of heat and it s very difficult to cool these rooms because there is no place. You can't compare the computer laptop and desktop PC!

In addition, to protect against overheating of the CPU has an internal temperature sensor. (You know that) If the temperature of computer s reaches a certain level, the cooling fan is turned on or processing speed is lowered. You can choose to control the temperature of the CPU by the setting of the fan first, then if necessary, reduce the speed of the CPU.
Alternatively, by lowering the speed of the CPU first, then if necessary, turn the fan. You can use the element of the standard tab cooling method in Toshiba Power Saver.

    Here are the features:
Maximum performance: Turn on fan first, and then if necessary decreases the speed of the CPU processing.
Performance: Use a combination of fan and a decline in the processing speed of the CPU.
Optimized battery: Lowers the speed of the CPU first, then if necessary turns on the fan.

In addition if the temperature of the CPU reaches an unacceptable level with two parameters, the system stops automatically to avoid any damage.

Hopefully this description can explain this problem.

    Best regards

  • Qosmio X 770, limited to 1.4 GHz processor

    Greetings,

my processor (i7 2630QM) does not work at full speed, it seems to be limited to 1.4 GHz.

I tried downgrading Bios 2.10 downto 1.10 and back, loading the bios default and OC software settings but nothing worked, I still can not get more than 1.4 GHz.

    OS: Ubuntu/Windows 7

    Any ideas?

BTW. How could I do a reset CMOS?

    CU

PS Sorry for the bad English.

    > my processor (i7 2630QM) does not work at full speed, it seems to be limited to 1.4 GHz.

And how did you check that?
Did you use any 3rd party software to get this value?

    > I tried downgrading to Bios 2.10 downto 1.10 and back, loading the bios default and OC software settings but nothing worked, I still can not get more than 1.4 GHz.

Usually the performance of the processor could be amended (clocked down) using Windows power management.
-> Panel-> Power Options change the parameters of plan-> change power avancΘs-> the CPU power management.

Here, you can set the maximum performance using batteries or sector.

Also in the BIOS settings you can affect the performance of the processor dynamic, always high or low
But it's what you could do

  • SSD external via USB does not start by default

    Hello Apple community.

I have a problem with my new external SSD. Given that the base model Mac Mini end of 2014 comes with a disk HARD 5400 RPM drive, I wanted to go to an SSD without having to tear the whole unit. I wanted to exhaust the option 'boot from USB' and I'm having a strange problem. I cloned my Mac to the new drive SSD and slapped in a box set of the speaker. I connected via USB and changed my 'startup disk' to use the external SSD drive. However, it does not start on this unit automatically. When I reboot and discovers the "boot manager" I see the USB being initialized automatically. After disconnection / re - plug the drive in, it appears as a boot option. Once it is initialized, everything works fine and I can boot into El Capitan without any problem using the SSD.

I am trying to find a way that I can get the Mac to initialize the SSD to the boot upward and choose default. I don't want to have to re - connect the drive whenever I want to start on the SSD drive... Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • Cannot connect my Withings equipment to time capsule 5-2, 4 ghz

Cannot connect withings Aura and the scale of the new Time capsule. Get the message: not compatible with 5.0 ghz router. But the capsule is supposed to have 2.4 ghz also.

    any solution?

    THX

The time Capsule is a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal at the same time. The two bands using the same default wireless network name.

In theory, a wireless device is supposed to choose the best quality signal with which to connect based on its own capacities and distance compared to the router.

Some devices only 2.4 GHz... printers, in particular... seem to get confused by the double signals and they have a hard time, choose the frequency band of correct with which to connect.

What might help is to use the AirPort Utility option to assign a different name for the 5 GHz wireless network. Then, the 2.4 GHz network has a name and the 5 GHz network has a different name... then you can run a device wireless to connect to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network this way.

Since the installation of El Capitan, my streaming to my Audioengine DAC D2 cut after 12 minutes (the default duration of sleep). It will restart by pressing the space bar. When I change the duration of sleep, the cut outs are becoming more frequent and intermittent. Help?

I checked the wifi and changed frequency (new modem, frequency change made no difference). The Board battery seems fine - all updates well. My computer is an iMac (2011), 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, with a new AMD Radeon graphics card. I recently installed a State strong 1 TB SATA drive and fitted with a LaCie Porsche 4 to USB for backup and a 4TB disk storage RAID LaCie drive.

I'm frustrated, having to come in my computer since my living room every 12 minutes to continue to listen to Spotify on my stereo system.

My guess is there a bug in the software of sleep in El Capitan, which disrupts his (I've tried different USB ports connect the Audioengine sender and same thing).

Should I go back to Yosemite?

First of all, 10.11.3 OSX just came out. Try this.
