Dock hiding in Mail

I unchecked "automatically hide and show the Dock" in system preferences, but he continues to hide the dock in the Mail application.  I use a MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan, 10.11.3 version.

Any help is very appreciated!  Thank you!!

Looks like you might be using Mail in full screen?

Click view > full screen output

If you want to have a large window but not in fullscreen, you will need to drag the window to a larger size.

  • My e-mail window does not open when I try to open a mail on my desk

When I click on the mail icon in the taskbar mail window won't open. If I right click on the icon, it seems that the mail is running, but the window will not appear.

There are 3 options to see if the mail is opened:

    (1) do you see any point in the Dock by the Mail icon? The dot indicates whether the application is open.

    (2) you can also check in the activity monitor. Open the activity monitor in Applications/Utilities. On the CPU tab you see Mail? You can enter the mail in the top search box to see if it is open. If an application has problems, you will see "Not responding" in red next to the name of the app.

    (3) Finally, under the Apple in the Menu bar, select force quit. Don't you see Mail? He says not responding do not?

If the mail is opened and it crashes (not answer) do you see Mail in the Menu bar above? If so, under file select new visualizer.

Does it really matter or not, how I got my mail? As you can probably, mobile info around is a little difficult for me and my question, if feasible, would be great.

It's not, it's the choice of the user. Mail can be read in two ways. The only difference is the interface.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

    Step 1

The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is localized to your user account.

Select the feedback connections* and log in as a guest. Do not use the Safari connection only 'user comments' created by 'find my Mac '.

While signed in as a guest, you will have access to your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you use them for the first time. Do not be alarmed by this behavior; It's normal. If you need any password or other personal information in order to complete the test, save, print, or write them before you start.

Test while signed in as a guest by putting in place one of your e-mail accounts. Same problem?

After testing, log on to the guest account and in your own account, disable it if you wish. The files that you created in the guest account will be automatically deleted when you log out of it.

    * Note: If you have enabled 'find my Mac' or FileVault, then you cannot activate the guest account. The login 'User comments' created by 'Find my Mac' is not the same. Create a new account to test and delete it, including his home folder, after testing.

    Step 2

The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is caused by changes in the system of third party that load automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Please take this step regardless of the results of step 1.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • El Capitan Email Dock behavior

Since the upgrade to El Capitan by clicking the Mail icon in the dock to open is no longer e-mail in box/mail-program. Instead clicking on the mail icon opens more recent open email (reading or writing). To access Inbox icon to the dock 1. no emails can be open or 2. must, do a right-click and select Inbox of all electronic files open (reception + mail box).

It is a departure from the behavior of previous dock icon that opened the Inbox by a simple click - and would send selection on right-click. As someone who has generally 10 to 20 emails open/minimized this is embarrassing.

Searched the forums or councils, but most have been consumed w / other, more important challenges of e-mail > upgrade OS. Is there a change of adjustment that can be made? Or terminal entrance? Is this a known issue?

    Any direction most appreciated.

    Thank you. G

    Hello, GUUU.

Leave your post, after that you have improved your MacBook Pro to El Capitan, the Mail app does not work as you would expect. Instead to open the Inbox, it opens up items left open the last time it used. I'll be happy to help you.

OS X El Capitan: Quit apps -in the menu bar, when the application is active, choose App name > Quit App. For example, choose Mail > Mail to quit. Re-open again all holding the SHIFT key. This clears the cache of the application Mail make you it opens correctly.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not start -start your MacBook Pro in test and in safe mode. Start in safe mode is a great way to make sure that everything starts correctly. Then, restart your Mac normally and test here too.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support and take care!

  • Mail and gmail don't agree in the Sierra, once again.

I had resolved all the gmail against messaging problems in El Capitan, but after upgrading to Sierra problems are back.

When I write and send an e-mail message, I find myself with a project in gmail attached to the messages thread which is waiting, despite having sent in Mail. The message is sent, but it remains as a draft in gmail. If I delete those, I'm deleting my copy of the message sent in gmail, but if I send them from gmail I'll send the same e-mail twice.

Any who see other related issues with Mail and gmail to disagree again?

I noticed that they have changed the settings in mail preferences you must specifically choose folder where you want to that mail to store drafts in. I have changed (back) to save them locally, which is always annoying, but I hope it will help with future messages, but what about all these projects message already sent? If I remove them, gmail sync sent versions of mail or delete?

How did the years and years pass, and Apple can't do gmail and work well together? Is not gmail so widely used they would have fixed this now?

I have problem with my IMAP accounts additional air currents. I suggest that you create a new user to test.

Try to set up a test account, see if the problem is global, or just linked to your account.

    CREATE A NEW USER

Go to system-> Preferences, create a new user in users and groups.

Switch to the new user by logging incoming/outgoing or use the fast user switching.

You can skip signature with your Apple ID, unless you test iCloud Mail.

By default only the applications Apple will be in the dock in the new user. Go to Applications to open other apps, that you can test.

If you see the same question in the new user, report it to the comments of the Apple in order to be connected and put in the queue to be fixed.

Often the best way to return the Spotlight feature is to restart the Mac. Restart in SafeMode to start, then reboot normally.

    Secure boot

    * stop

    * start the Mac and * wait * to start the sound chime

    * After the sound, press on and hold down the SHIFT key

    * now, release the SHIFT key and wait (this could take a few minutes)

    * Finally, the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT

How to stop these little boxes of new emails coming down on the top right of my macbook air

    Hi Bunt11,

I understand that you do not want to stop the boxes that appear at the top right of the screen on your MacBook Air (also known as the notifications) when you receive the e-mail. Fortunately, this can be done relatively easily in the system preferences. You can open the system preferences () in the Dock (if she appears at the bottom of your screen), or in the Apple menu > System Preferences. Once you'll want in system preferences, click Notifications, and then click Mail in the list on the left and select "None" rather than "Banners" or "Alerts" on the right.

Notifications systems of preferences allows you to indicate when you do not want to be disturbed by notifications and set options to control how apps to display notifications and how they are sorted in the Notification Center.

To open these preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Notifications. Select do not disturb or an application on the left, then view or change the settings on the right.

    Alert style [app]

Select a style for notifications from the app:

    • No: Notifications do not appear on the screen.
    • Banners: Notifications are displayed on the screen and disappear after a while.
    • Alerts: Notifications to remain on the screen until that fire you.
