  I have 2 PCs. The two have a Genuine Vista Home Premium operating system. We have a MS Office Pro.

  First PC broke down about 18 months ago. I didn't replace it. Second hard drive of the PC broke out last week so I took the old hard drive to PC and loaded Vista and Office Pro top. After 20 hours of updates, it works well. I now need activation codes. Both Vista and Office tell me that the codes are already used.

  Surely I can't be expected to buy another £300 + worth of software when I bought them twice already and use only them on a PC.

  If your Windows came pre-installed, then this is an OEM license-these licenses are linked to the motherboard on which they are first installed and cannot be moved to another Committee under strictly regulated circumstances, such as the OEM replacement Commission under the warranty.
