Don't deleted videos free no space?

My hard drive is nearly full, so the other day I spent hours and hours in Photos (hate the name, by the way - cannot seek help online) removal of videos my kids did... nothing.

No space has been cleared up. ACK!

As I understand it is because that the files actually still live in a directory of iPhotos, in order to remove them from Photos does not remove them - that needs to be done... where, exactly?

Need help please, my hard drive is going to explode soon (2 GB free!)

Thank you very much!!

NO.

Videos are on the disk and are hard linked to iPhoto and Photos if they were migrated from iPhoto - so if they were migrated from iPhoto, then do not delete two places - as long as there is a hard link file is not removed from the disc - if you are sure you are finished with iPhoto , then you can check the iPhoto library in case you need it later, and then delete the iPhoto library all

And you must have a min of 10 GB of free space or your system is working properly, we must act now

    Hello

I have an iPhone 6 and uses iOS 9.3.2,and I recently deleted all my pictures and videos to free up space, "Manage the storage" in still however said circles I 23.4 GB of photos/videos like iTunes when I connect my iPhone to my Mac. I deleted my recently deleted folder and follow the instructions of a guy showing a year, which suggests to set my phone date about two years back and deleting the photos recently deleted the file and both of these solutions do not work. I have reset my phone (home and power button operation / stop) and also, it does not work. I don't want to wipe my phone and restore it if possible, but it's the only option I can think of next.

Are there other solutions before I try this?

    Thanks in advnace

    Hey Ben,

Thanks for stopping by the communities Support from Apple! Looks like you are trying to free up space on your iPhone by deleting all the photos and videos, and you still see 23.4 GB absorbed by these files. You have already made sure to empty your recently deleted album, fix the date of return on your phone and performed a hard reset on your device. You did an excellent job so far, and I'll be happy to give you some ideas to move forward from here.

Before diving into other troubleshooting procedures, it would be useful to ensure that you have a recent backup of your iPhone is available. This will help us ensure that all your important data is stored safely for you. Here is an article with information on how to backup your device:

Once it is in place, I recommend you to reset the settings on your phone. This is not the impact of your personal data, but you will have to perhaps adjust the user specific settings, but also re - enter passwords and Wi - Fi networks. To complete this step, go to settings > general > reset > reset all settings. When you restart your phone, check if the local storage on your phone has updated to reflect the changes you did related to your photos and videos.

Beyond that, you want to look at your phone erase and reset to the factory settings. It is possible that some kind of software corruption causes the divergence of storage that you are experiencing. Set up your phone as a new device via iTunes install a new copy of iOS and also to exclude the corrupted files, etc. in your user data. This is a resource for this process:

I wrote a code that looks like the free space on the disk, which is compared to a value, the output of the comparator being connected to a Structure of case...

Currently, I have a list of all file paths in my file (using recursive file List.vi). I found the function giving the date of last modification of a file (using the file Info).

But I can't find a loop paths of sorting by date.

can you me tell step by step how to do this, these are photos I have saved in the computer, originally taken from
    our camera or our ipods.

    Hello katwhitehouse,

I guess that you have backups of these photographs? If this isn't the case, I suggest that you back up to another drive, or a DVD.

Regarding the removal of photographs, it is a simple matter of opening the case were that the photographs are stored, by selecting each photograph, right-click on it and select delete in the menu drop-down. If you have lots of photos to remove games from the first then move to the last. Before clicking on the last of them, press the SHIFT key on your keyboard and hold it down while you click the last photo. All photography will be selected. Just a click on the selection, and in the drop-down menu, select Remove. All photographs will be then delete.

Is this a computer supplied by the manufacturer with Windows
    pre-installed?

If so, D: is probably a recovery disk partition. This is where
to allow you to reinstall Windows if it is necessary. It comes
full (or almost full) and you should be sure never to write anything

  • How to use iCloud for storing the photos so I can free up space on iPhone?

When she did, pictures disappeared as her iCloud account, lose the photos of the early days of our newborn!  How do we use the iCloud storage that pay as essential to store photos and videos, so it can free up space on his iPhone? Thank you!

You cannot delete the photos and keep them in iCloud photo library.

You can reclaim space on your phone with: settings > Photos & camera > optimize iPhone storage that keeps the smaller version, more low resolution on the phone and original version enlarged in iCloud.

You can use a service advantage cloud service like DropBox or Flickr 3rd.

The best way to free up space is to import them to your computer and delete what you don't need on your phone: iOS: import personal pictures and videos of iOS devices to your computer

  • Free disk space on the C partition

    Separated from this thread.

I am also having the same problem.  I am running Vista Home Premium SP2.  I was getting close to complete on my drive C (13% free space). I was shocked to see how quickly it filled up, almost as if he did it by himself.  I was downloading a lot so I had no idea how it happened.  I ran each program cleaning and each antivirus that I had to try to make room.  I cleaned up program files deleted a bunch of audio and video files, and it does not seem to do much more of a difference.  I shut down the computer for the night and is returned to him the next morning.  I ran and bought a few flash drives to transfer files more and when I booted up I checked the hard drive and it was back to 48% free space (as it was before).  I have no idea what happened, but so far, it seems to be fixed...?   one of the cleansers I ran also ccleaner.

    Compress files

There are two ways to compress files in windows. Zip files and built-in file compression. It's built-in file compression. For more information on compression type zip in Start - Help and Support .

Photos, music and video are already compressed. They can get larger if Windows tries to compress it any further. Also usually a bad idea to compress system files.

If you have files of worksheet they can very well be compressed. If you have files, installation files, they can also be good candidates. Web pages are also good candidates.

In Windows Explorer, blue file names means Tablet (it is the file system compression not aka zip files compressed files). Green filename means Encrypted.

To disable file names colored, in Explorer - Tools menu (Alt + T)- display tab and then clear the check box for Show encrypted or compressed NTFS in color .

Windows compression, encryption and security to work for the most part by applying attributes to a folder and the files in the folder inherit the folder.

If you have all the files appropriate for compression, find them in solution, made Explorer right click - Properties - general -Advanced button tab - Compress contents to save disk space. Choose to apply to all files and folders when asked.

To use a command line to compress the files in the Favorites folder.

  • Mobile library did not free disk space

I got my Macbook GB 512 Pro flew a few weeks back and I bought a MacMini I have another laptop.

The MacMini is only a 250G SSD and its already full.

I have storage iCloud but everything still seems to want to live on my SSD.

I moved the photo library (30G) of the SSD to a USB attached (formatted OSX extended) and naively expected to free up space when I deleted the original PL and emptied the Recycle Bin after you did.

Unfortunately there were no releasing 30 g at all and I still have the same problem.

My SSD Mac was / is also showing 20G of movies, all deleted or left the trashed SSD (and empty) - all this without release all space.

I am unable to save or update my iPad Pro due to lack of space (about 10 G of free disk SSD) - The MacMini tells me that there is not enough space on the SSD drive.

I is turned off and turned back on iCloud Photos and fact will restart but not luck. All my photos are safe in iCloud, so I don't really know what I have to do to free up space.

Someone at - it ideas or experience similar issues?

    Thank you

    AJ

For the other category in the display of information storage, see this support article. If the display appears to be inaccurate, try to rebuild the Spotlight index of the boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.)

Empty the trash if you don't have it already done. If you use iPhoto, emptying his trash internal everything first:

    ▹ iPhoto empty the trash

    In pictures:

▹ Show of the recently deleted ▹ file delete all

Do the same thing in other applications like Aperture, with an internal feature of the trash. Then, restart the computer. Temporarily, which will free up space.

According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot volume (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation, not the mythical 10%, 15% or any percentage. You also need enough space to allow the growth of the data over. There is little or no advantage in terms of performance to get more free space than the minimum Apple recommends. Storage space you'll never use is wasted space.

See this support article for some easy ways to free up storage space. A common waste of space is old backups iTunes to mobile devices. As shown in this support article, select the devices tab in the iTunes preferences window, select the backup that you want to remove and click on delete the backups. Keep at least a backup of each device you use yet.

You can, if you wish, use a tool such OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and discover what is take up space. You can also delete files with it, but not unless you don't know you know what you remove and that all data is stored safely. This means that you have several backups, not one. Note that the ODS only works with OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") and later versions.

IMPORTANT: This comment is neither a recommendation nor an endorsement of any third party software. You should always do your own research to determine if the unknown software is safe and useful. Don't take the word of anyone, including mine.

Deletion of files inside a photo library or iTunes will damage the library. Such a library should be changed within the application that created it. It is the same for e-mail files.

Go further than if the problem is not resolved by the steps above.

ODS cannot see the whole file system when you run simply by double-clicking; He sees only the files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you must run it as root.

Back up all the data now.

Install the application in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it runs.

Triple-click any where in the text line below on this page to select, then copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing command + V. You will be asked for your login password.

The application window opens behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will finally show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.

I do not recommend that you make a habit of doing. Do not delete anything as root. If something should be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then remove by safer alternatives. If in doubt, leave it alone or ask for advice.

When you are finished with the app, he quit and also to leave Terminal.

  • Mackintosh HD is full, how do I free up space

I have a macbook pro (retina, 13 inch, mid-2014) and the HD is full - the majority is full with 'other' (what it means) and then movies is the next largest... can I delete movies to free up space and how to do this and also why movies are taking place so - I 11 in iTunes.  But storage has also said 6.8 MB of free space to 249.78 G... the problem is I use Dropbox computer many to go between to keep my files updated and now the drop box cannot sync because I didn't space...

I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 version processor is clocked at 2.6 GHz intel core i5, 8 GB memory

    Thank you very much

    Zoe

Here is the definition of the OTHER:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT202867

Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. This should allow you to determine which files to remove or disable charge it to an external HARD drive.

Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

    Ciao.
