Don't double-click to open a topic

I have no idea what happened, but now I can't double-click to open topics. I can right-click and select open with WYSIWYG. The only thing that I can understand, is an automatic Windows Update has occurred, so I couldn't open topics by double-clicking. Please help, it's such a drag!

AH HA! I changed the radio button to use by default and now it works! Thank you. Can't imagine how this has changed... but thanks anyway!

  • Don't double-click to open files

I'm unable to open any folder in Windows Explorer via doubleclicking (I need to right click and click Open).  When I try to double click I get the message "this file has not a program linked with her...." ».

I ran a registry cleaner last night and I'm afraid that it deleted a registry value which allowed double-clicks open folders.  I tried the system restore, but it did not work.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you!

Registry cleaners are bad news. They Excel in three things:
    (a) they do fear the light of the day in the life of people by doing a lot of things that "are wrong" with the registry and which need fixing.
    (b) at best, their actions have no beneficial effect on the operation of Windows.
    (c) at worst windows damage or ruin.

(It seems as if one) and c) applies in your case. I recommend you do this:
-Uninstall immediately the registry cleaner, then throw it away.
-Use the process below to restore a backup copy of your registry files. The process is complex and requires some careful typing. Ask a computer-savvy friend to help you if you lack experience in this field. Note that it may reset your password to a previous value.
    1. keep tapping F8 during the first phase of startup.
    2. select Repair from the menu.
3 log in as administrator if you are prompted.
    4. Select repair when prompted.
    5. Select the command line.
    6. identify the correct drive letter for your Windows installation. It could be one drive other than c, but it will not X:. You do this by typing commands
    DIR C:\Win*
    Dir D:\Win*
    dir E:\Win*
until you find the Windows folder.
    I'll call this "Q:" drive
    7 type these commands:
    CD /d Q:\windows\System32\config
    xcopy *. * Q:\RegBack\
    CD RegBack
    dir
    8. review the dates of the software, system, and SAM files. The files created before or after that is your problem?
    9. If they were made before the problem appeared, you can then type these commands:
    copy software / y...
    /y copy system...
    /y copy Sam...
(the two points are part of each order)
    10. restart normally. If things don't work then you can go back by copying files from the original register of Q:\Regback to Q:\Windows\System32\config.

  • Double-click to open a Word or Excel file crashes just for centuries before opening it later.

Recently, by double clicking on a file name to open a Word or Excel file, my PC crashes just for centuries before opening it later. Text files, PDF, jpg files and other open immediately, no problem. I have not changed the Word/Excel software recently and the extensions.doc/.xls file are correctly associated with programs. Why don't double-click work properly?

Open Word/Excel and then use the file - dialog box open to open a file.

    Which causes the same delay?

  • Double-click to open an item no longer works

I realized, click items as follows - double-click to open an item from the file Explorer is no more work.

Because I don't like the single-click mode, whenever I have a new PC XP, I switch, double-click mode.
And then double-click mode that allows to work as I wanted, but now I do not see any difference between the single-click mode and double-click mode.
I see the underline on folder tree control item when mouse cursor hovers over that folder and click once to develop even a folder, double-click mode.
Version hotfixs Microsoft that modifies the behavior of the file Explorer?
    Hi anmaaan,

-Remember you proceed with recent computer between the calendar changes when things worked fine and now?

There is no such release hotfix from Microsoft.

Method 1: Check if the function of the mouse buttons were reversed.

See the following article to do the same thing:

Method 2: A scan of your computer to check if the problem occurs due to any virus or malware.

Method 3: Run the following command and check if it helps.

    a. click Start> run> type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll , and then click OK.

You should receive a message that the dll was registered successfully.

How can I restore "double click-to-open" on my touch pad. using window 7

It depends on who built your touchpad.  Each company has different settings and put them in different places. You can check this common location, but it is not a guarantee.

    1. Open start and select Control Panel
    2. Click on hardware and sound
    3. Click the mouse
    4. Search for touchpad options.  If you don't see everything, go to the Hardware tab, highlight your touchpad in the list, and then click settings.
    5. If there are still no touchpad options, you will need to consult your manual to the owner for where your portable computer specific company set their parameters.
  • InDesign crashes every time you double-click to open a file on Windows System .indd

InDesign crashes every time you double-click to open an InDesign file and has done so since the replacement of the original version of InDesign into the launch of CC.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I would say it was unique to my system if I had not met the problem several times on several different systems now.  You must restart InDesign which then opens the recovery file, so he saw the file you are trying to launch in the first place.  This leads me to believe that the problem lies in the registry file to InDesign inside Windows systems association.  I find it incredible that this problem still exists and remains declared that a solution has not been implemented by Adobe to rectify the problem.

Double click is a fundamental tenant of open files on a Windows system in the same way, that a click is on a Mac.  Does InDesign crash ever time a Mac user clicks to open their records, I don't think.

Someone at - it ideas other than the obvious which is Adobe actually released their figure and fixed it.

    See you soon,.

I'm on Windows and I double-click on freely and I do not experience this problem.

Yes, I think you're onto something when you identify yourself as a registry problem. Maybe try another registry cleaner/checker? Maybe someone has published the specific registry fix.

If you uninstall, restart, then clean the registry, then reboot, then reinstall, you may have the opportunity to fix the registry corruption.

  • Cannot Alt + double click to open a picture?

    hello:                                                                                                             Level: Newbie  Id:Cs6  Os:Win8

I read that Win8 is compatible with Id, Ps and Illy (I don't know about other applications CC but I hope they are too)

However, by following a vid tut by Terry White ~ it directed me to click on an image and then hold down the ALT key while double clicking to open it in full mode but when I did open the picture in Windows Photo Gallery

Well, sooner than I had spent in the default programs and set the default Windows Photo Gallery to open images ~ not knowing it would prevent operation Id or that she would (apparently), cancel everything (Yes, I'm pretty new to OS in general also) I did this b/c when I go to my image folders and click on an image to see opened in some AWEFUL programs than depixelated (< is that a Word?). fact my photos/images are simply terrible.

I called Microsoft and the man who tried to help me said I had to go to "Associate a file Type or Protocol with a program" and then I had to choose every single file (.jpeg, .png, .tiff, etc.) for each Application Type (Adobe or not) and "Associate" this file Type with the Application I need to do is open... uh... caugh caugh... a moment... SHOUT OUT! Uh, what? Really?

Dear God... What is not so well say! Please? (lol)

so, is it really the deal? or does anyone else think that may have been directed incorrectly?

I went back to the default programs to remove Windows Photo Gallery as the default program, but I don't see where it is an option.

I completely understand is no help for Windows8 forum but IF anyone has an experince w / it is ready/able to help me out, I would also appreciate any advice you may be able to lend. I plan to go run around the net after I finish here to look for (a needle in a haystack) help in a forum of Win8 (Ow & wo is me)

Oh, also the (nice) man at Microsoft could not tell me if I went ahead and made rather Windows Photo Gallery would always open my pictures or not, or if she would return to this program overview terrible, I started with the 1st place.

That was my very 1st using InDesign and I would really like to start learning. -What do someone know why I can not click on Alt + 2 & then open the picture as it is supposed to have? or even how do I tell Windows8 please leave Id ALSO open files in the way that he wants less?

    Hi placebow,

Open the Options folder by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, and then clicking Folder Options. On the general tab, click single-click to open an item. (To return to the standard click, click double-click to open an item.)

The setting applies not only at the office, but also in other areas of the shell.
