Double encryption of a PDF file

I have a security audit in PDF format which is the password protected editing, you can open and view the PDF file that has been encrypted by the audit company and does not know the password. My company does not allow sending attachments unencrpted. I need to send the PDF file to a client that does not. ZIP attachments.  I am looking for another idea on how to completely encrypt the PDF file with a separate password I can give to the customer. Any ideas? Thank you

Include the file as an attachment to another PDF file that you create and apply the desired security. The recipient can then open the file and extract the attachment.

  • Several unsuccessful attempts to open the PDF file in Windows Explorer by double-clicking

    Hello

    My system configuration: Windows 7 SP1 x 64 Adobe Reader 11.0.10.32.

By double clicking on the PDF file or try to open with Adobe Reader IX in the menu shortcut in Windows Explorer or any other file manager, the software Adobe Reader opens only after a few attempts. At each attempt the AcroRd32.exe process arises. And after a few attempts, the file opens. As a result, I see several empty AcroRd32.exe process in the Task Manager, each have about 4000 KB of RAM and the only open file. I have to kill these empty process manually, because they are not dead before closing the window of Adobe Reader.

I found the same problem on another PC with the same configuration.

    Hi Alexis,.

Could you please let me know for how long did you face this problem.

Open the TEMP folder (press Windows + R and type %temp%) and delete all the files inside.

This happens with any specific PDF or all PDFs?

You can try to disable the Safe_mode opening drive then go to ' Edit > Preferences > (protection)»

Let me know how it goes.

  • Cannot open PDF files, even if Adobe reader is installed on the computer

Original title: I can't read all the PDFs? Even if I downloaded Adobe reader?

I am convinced that something is wrong with my computer, I can not open all PDFs as statements of account or anything. I downloaded the Adobe reader software and it is in my control panel installed programs? What is the problem with my computer? Can HWO I solve this problem?

Try opening the PDF via Adobe Reader file menu, double-click on the PDF file instead. If it works, the problem is probably with the file association settings.

  • Problems to open PDF files after the upgrade of the file server for 2012 R2

    Hello

This weekend we have improved our main Windows 2003 to 2012 R2 file server.

Since the upgrade, users (including myself) cannot open a PDF of the file server.  If I double click on a PDF file, it opens as usual, but if I double click a different PDF, the acrobat reader flashes (in the Task Manager I can see another instance AcroRd32.exe starts and stops) but the second document does not open.

If I close the first document and then try and open the other, and then it opens without any problem.

This only affected the opening of files on the new file server, opening several files on a local disk is very good.

If I disable 'enable protected mode at startup' then I can open several documents of the file server.  I would prefer not to have to do.

Users are using Acrobat Reader 11.0.10 on 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop.

Does anyone have any ideas, it may be the cause?  And does anyone have one solution other than to disable the protected mode?

    Thank you

  • Adobe 11000 (11007) starts by double click on a .pdf in the background, can't tab for her

    Hi all.

I installed Adobe Reader XI (UK) on barely installed Windows 8.1 (6.3 9600 pro x 86, build, localization of Ru, without updates) as the administrator and with disabled UAC.

Once I double click on the PDF file AcroRd32.exe appears in the dispatcher of the task, but not in the taskbar, not user interface with my file a new task for each test is displayed.

If I start application and open the file using the file system browser - it works fine.

I've already agreed to license Adobe.

Did not help: 1) uninstall / install the app, 2) applying overall 10007 update (AdbeRdrUpd11007.msp) 3) AR XI in Control Panel-> default programs as preferred for 4) turning PDF works three times.

Could you pls advice what should you do to avoid the problem? With the help of the en version AR is not acceptable to me.

    Thank you in advance.

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].

  • Can't open .pdf files

For .pdf file association is Adobe Acrobat 9.0 but does not open the .pdf files.  Any ideas please?

You can open the files in the file menu in Acrobat. This should give you an idea if they are damaged or if it's just a problem of BONE of the association. When you double-click on the PDF file, Acrobat opens? If this isn't the case, you may need to check the properties of the association liaison.

    Hi mt88,

If you are looking for editable text scans, you can buy OCR software that will allow you to scan to the editable document.

  • Adobe Distiller ALWAYS encrypts PDF files it generates?

The answer to this question could help me decide how to proceed with my free physics book that is written by using the dvi-ps-pdf path to LaTeX and is available free online.

Is it true that when a pdf file is generated by Adobe Distiller and put online, Google can not read the text that it contained, because the text is always encrypted in the PDF?

I don't seem to be able to disable encryption.

Or is there a way to disable encryption in Adobe Distiller XI, for example by enforcing the compatibility with Acrobat 4.0 (PDF 1.3) or with another method?

Encryption requires the entry of a password. You entered a password for open Action or restrict access to the PDF content?

PDF format uses compression established standards and does not use any secret code.

Have you looked at the preferences for Distiller:

I still see PDF documents using Google and they include even some preview images.

    Hi Valerie Ruiz

Please right click on the PDF icon > select 'Préférences' > tab general, click "Change" and select "Adobe Acrobat".

If this does not work, you can try typing "Edit the file associated with a file extension type" in the search box or visit Panel > all items in the control panel > default Associations of Programs\Set. Select ".pdf" in the list and click 'Change Program' at the top right and select "Adobe Acrobat".

  • encrypt the pdf file with acrobat pro xi secure certificates

    Hi all

I support a user who allows to encrypt documents with approved identities (*.fdf) on Acrobat X.

Now on Acrobat XI, when you encrypt a document, it can not used approved identities. It seems that Acrobat XI allow the encryption of digital identification (*.pfx imported)

Is this correct? Anyway, we can encrypt on Acrobat XI with approved identities?

    Thank you.

    Welly

    Hi Welly,

A digital ID (a P12 or PFX file) consists of three parts; a public key certificate, the public key and the private key. The public key certificate (PKC) corresponds to the text part you see in a certificate Viewer and contains stuff like (aka the subject) user name, issuer name, validity dates, serial number. etc. The two keys (public and private) have a symbiotic when you a key blocking (crypt) only the other keys can unlock (decrypt). Each key can be used to block (encrypt) data, but if it serves the data needs to be unlocked (decrypted) with the other key.

If the file does not contain the private key, but comes of PKC public key and which are known as a certificate file. Certificate files can be shared with the world, where as ID digital file can only be used by one person. A certificate file can be viewed by anyone, but a digital ID file is password protected or PIN.

That said, when it comes to encrypt a PDF file using the security certificate file is encrypted using one or more certificate files, and the certificate file is used. However, Acrobat asks the user to choose their own digital ID to use in order to prevent their locking out of the file during the encryption process. Actually Acrobat only want access to the part of the public key of the file for the encryption process, but it asks the user to select their digital ID to start. You can choose to not use your own digital ID and go to the part where you select it the recipients public key certificate, and if you know you can select your own, but when the time comes to enter the file you must have the private key to decrypt the file and this means that you should have access to the digital ID file. It does not make much sense that encrypt you the file for yourself and have not already loaded digital ID.

The extent and files certificates go, they can be shared in the TOT, the CER file format or the P7B file format. The format of the file is just the transport mechanism to distribute the public key.

  • How can I determine if a created PDF file has been encrypted in a unix or linux box

I'm not sure if execution of the command file on my box will tell me if a given created PDF file is encrypted and with what level of encryption.  Is there a way to determine if the file is encrypted by using the Unix/Linux tools after the fact?

    Thank you

    Sam

It is assumed that you want to do this in UNIX command line / Shell / Terminal.  There is a way that you could do that and that is to 'rolling' and build the tool with the Adobe PDF Library SDK.  Datalogics, which is an Adobe partner has a port of UNIX for the Adobe PDF Library SDK which could be used to create a tool that does this for you, but there is a very big opposition involved in the price structure for the Adobe's PDF library.
