Downgrade to win 8-7, where is my key?
We are to halfway in our refreshment from XP to Win 7 computer.
Before today, I was getting new computers with a certificate of authenticity with a Win7 key on it.
Since I do not use OEM installations (read: I don't want to have installed unwanted HP systems to get) I just reinstalled Win7 from my media and use the key on the COA to activate.
Received today 4 systems with Win7 with no certificates of authenticity. HP sticker reads as follows: "QS: win8 pro demoted to Win 7 pro.
The problems here are:
(a) I can't use the facility that they came with, for security reasons.
(b) I can't reinstall Win 7 without the COA key.
(c) the system did not come with a Win7 installation disc.
(d) we're going to jump 8 Win so ways to earn 8 are not an option.
In addition to start buying another brand, what are my options?
Thanks for your help =)
It is a forum of HP consumer products and as HP Compaq Elite 8300 business computer is a class computer business, you can ask your question in the HP Enterprise Business Community. You can also contact the HP Business Support Center. However, if you want to continue on this forum, try the following:
(1) download and unzip ABR Beta with Windows 7 Support. This is the homepage of ABR for Windows Vista. Please follow the section "How to use" for information and instructions on how to use it. These steps also apply to Windows 7. Perform the 'activation' on each computer backup and back up the certificate and the key has been recovered in separate places for comparison. Compare the keys and certificates for each computer, they are all the same? (He draws the original key HP preinstalled OEM factory and certificate from your factory installed OS OEM) Please report back with your findings.
(2) download and use RWEverything to determine the version of the OA/SLP/SLIC in BIOS of the computer. See this page of Web MyDitigalLife titled "How to check or verify PC motherboard BIOS SLIC Version is SLP OA 2.0 or 2.1 for OEM Activation" for more information on how to use and decipher the information. (Windows 8 use OA 3.0 and this is where the problem can happen) Please report back with your findings.
(3) download your version (the version that was preinstalled on your HP computers... in your case, Windows 7 Pro SP1 x 64) of Windows 7 from Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River. Using the built-in Windows 7 CD/DVD burning software, burn downloaded Windows 7 ISO on a DVD.
(4) install Windows 7 from your new 'Windows 7' drive, following all prompts as needed. Don't let not Windows try to scoped. Run ABR 'restoration of activation' to 'install' the previously saved until the product key and the certificate. Make sure that Windows is activated, repeat "restoration of activation" until Windows 7 is activated. (It "installs" pre-installed HP OEM factory original key and certificate from your factory installed OS to your new installation of Windows. This HP OEM key and the certificate is what allows your computer to HP be factory preactivated.
(5) install all drivers from the computer. These can be found on the support page HP for your computer, or you can find newer drivers on the various websites of the manufacturers of component... Intel, NVidia, AMD/ATI, Ralink, Realtek, etc..
(6) image of the Windows installation and deploy it to the remaining computers.
Please send Bravo

Thank youHello Hitesh1326 ;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!
I read your post about wanting to downgrade your PC Win10 for Win7 and wanted to help.
This is really NOT a good idea. Why? Unfortunately, there is no HP Win7 drivers for your device. Since it came with pre-installed Win10, HP provides drivers for older operating systems for this. If you want all the features of the machine, you must consider restore on his original version of OS preinstalled.
There are possibilities, with equipment up, that there is simply no Win7 driver that will work. Manufacturers of new material today generally don't write drivers for an OS that is almost 10 years old now.
My own advice does NOT downgrade, because you could very well be left with a PC for which some material does not.
If proceed you with the downgrade, then try to use Windows updates to find the drivers from Microsoft deposits for your device: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
If you then run into trouble, install the drivers through Windows Update, you can try to use of Microsoft Windows Update Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-windows-update-troubleshooter
I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

Can I downgrade from Win Vista HomePremium 64 OEM Win XP 64? And what key should I use?
I have a DELL with WIN VISTA Home Premium OEM 64 and I need it downgrade to WIN XP 64.
Some older programs don't work correctly on VISTA and I don't need to spend a lot of money for an upgrade to WINDOWS 7.So please don't tell me to upgrade just tell me if it is posible to DOWNGRADE.
Hello
No, it is not possible.
There is no right to Downgrade to XP to Vista Home Premium.
They apply only to Vista Business and Ultimate.
You can try to install these programs in Compatibility Mode;
"Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode.
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/
If this does not work, you will be to see if Dell will provide XP drivers for your model computer, then find a place to buy XP.
See you soon.

I have an OEM Win 10 Pro and want to downgrade to Win 7 pro, but do not have Win 7 Pro iso or disc. The seller tells me that MS will provide Win 7 Pro to achieve, but my Windows 10 Pro product key does not work on the download page.
Thank you

If Pro 10 Windows was preinstalled on your computer, see how in-depth instructions downgrade:
How Downgrade Windows preinstalled 10 for Windows 7/8.1
As mentioned in the article, it is your responsibility to facilitate access to Windows 7 Professional reinstall media. He may be borrowing retail upgrade or full version of media or OEM System Builder.
You can use the following utility to download the ISO of Windows 7 Professional:
Microsoft Windows and Office ISO download tool - HeiDoc.net
Instructions for activation phone activation use after decommissioning in detail article I linked at the start. No need to buy Windows 7 Professional.
Instead of replace, you might want to consider dual booting:
How to: Dual Boot Windows 7 or Windows 8 with Windows installed 10 first
If what you bought is an OEM System Builder Windows 10 Pro license, then you can indeed buy Windows 7 Professional.
Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.
Full version (retail):
-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.
-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.
-Expensive
Upgrade version (detail):
-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.
-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.
-Expensive, but less expensive full version
OEM System Builder version:
The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:
-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft
-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on
-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system
There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.
You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.
There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft. »)

Downgrade from Windows 7 Pro - need my Lic Key
Help
I bought an Omni27 about a year ago and its been ok except for the Windows8 OS. It is not practical on a desktop for me.
My problem is the following:
I need my license key Professional Windows8 for current installation to Microsoft which has a program to give you a key Win7 Pro in Exchange if you HATE Windows8. WHERE IS THE KEY!
Here's what I did:
(1) MS said to call for the cause of the seller, they have a record of the unit being the OEM installation
(2) I called HP support and they said that they do not support the downgrades. I explained everything and with an Indian accent, I was told tursely that they do not support the downgrades. I explained once again, I ask you to help me downgrade, I want just the key to lic or know where it is anywhere on the PC. They are like drones idot... Nothing
So I decided to start in win8 one last time, MS to enter the system remotely, and the fish on my lic key then send me the new KEY. I hope this works.
If anyone has a better way to address the issue made me know. I put in a new HD and install Win7 clean and keep my old drive to migrate data to.
The computer was delivered without much documentation. Unlike my Dell PC that come with stickers for the OS and other DVD media with docs, HP was skinny to almost zero!
Hello
The key is in the BIOS. The following tool will help:

Where is the key to refresh on C50 - A Satellite?
Where is the key to refresh on C50 - A. On my old laptop is F5, but on an F5 disables the touchpad.
You can use F5 as refresh the key, but you must change the mode of use of the F-keys.
Follow these steps:
Start Desktop Help > tools & utilities > system settings > keyboard you will find the option for function keys mode. Change special in standard mode. Now you should be able to use F5 as refresh key but don't not to disable the touchpad. This feature will be possible when you press FN and F5.
Check it out please.

Satellite C850 - downgrade to win 8 to Win 7
Epilogue:
OK, so I tried my best. I realize there are a few nice things about Win8, but as a daughter-in-law ginger I just can't accept it as part of my life. I've had the phone for 6 months now and what are the changes that I do, I just keep coming back to the fact I'm trying to force Win 8 in the way that Windows 7 works which is stupid when Windows 7 is available. The only real reason I braked, Win 8 was the preinstalled operating system (Toshiba should really reconsider that decision, it of a horrible OS for anything other than the occasional use of Tablet and actually paralyzes their material). But the time has come, I can not simply continue. Win7 should return to the throne.
Go ahead:
Anyway, preamble, I have a few questions about the "downgrade". First off I used the Toshiba 'Recovery Media Creator' to create the backup disks (which I assume the laptop back to the State 'out of the box') and back up important data. I have Windows 7 on a USB bootable (a legal copy of too - oh, how decadent!).
I think I need to put the Boot_ _Secure to * Disabled * and the _Boot Mode_ to * CSM Boot * so that my USB bootable to be detected. I read several pages to this subject and some people suggest I need a kind of SATA drivers on the stick too. Can anyone confirm this is true or not? If it is true, where can I get coming from (URL if poss?) and where to put them on the handle (root? It ask for a location?).
In terms of installation, it is just the standard installation of Win 7, but you must delete all partitions on the HARD drive to remove things inherited from TPG, right? Once the Secure Boot/UEFI malarkey went it is just a standard laptop - or I am me wrong?
What to do next:
YOU! I need you! In a Kitchener way (if you don't know what I mean, google Kitchener), I need you to tell me if I'm being a fool. Not on the "downgrade" because it may be the thing the smarter I'll do with this laptop - win 8 is so frustrating awkward that I wouldn't be surprised if this is not the first operating system diagnosed with a personality disorder - the thing I need people to tell me what if I missed anything on my list "return of zen". Is it really just BIOS, USB boot (with SATA drivers?), delete partitions, create new unified partition and then finally to install the new OS? Did any of his right or am I'm going to be stuck at halfway through to see that I forgot to change something leaving my fubar' laptop computer ed?
TL; DR.?
Win 7 on Win 8, need help.
Summary:
Thanks to all who answer. The power of your, em... Well what you want to (except it dirty you rabbit!).
:)
Before restoring W7, take a look at the classic interface (classicshell.net) and you can change your mind. It looks like W7, it behaves like W7, so it must be W8!

A few questions after the downgrade of Win 7 on Satellite U940 - 11L
Hello
friend of mine bought the Toshiba Satellite U940 - 11L which had Windows 8 on it, due to some reasons that she wanted to have Windows 7 installed on it, which was pretty easy.
Trouble came with the installation of the Symantec touchpad, after installing the drivers, it worked for about 10-15 minutes but then it stopped working.
Tried to uninstall and install again but no luck, found a few discussions where it was suggested to remove all the devices, remove the battery and the power cord.
Press the power button for 15 seconds and then power back on but still not lucky (I wasn't in the restoration of the default settings of the Bios I did not any change it outside disabling secure boot and replacing UEFI CSM that was needed to run win 7 on it).
Tried about 4 different sources when it comes to the drivers but still does not work. I checked the Device Manager Dev but see no conflict, and it shows that the unit works fine but the problem persists. Please note that the drivers were specific to windows 7.
Please if you have any suggestions we would greatly appriciate it.
On another note, I'm not able to install the bluetooth it (HW ID shows as ACPI\TOS6205), I tried to install it several times but no luck because it always shows as unknown device in the dev Manager. The driver that I use is Bluetooth Filter Driver Package as info.
Also, the computer is slower than it was with Windows 8, I suspect the reason for this is the fact that the installation of win 7 I accidentally erased part of the hybrid drive SSD (the size was 11.2 GB if I remember correctly, yes silly me...). I wasn't looking for a while on the net to see if there is a way to fix it but no luck so far.
Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions!
Tony
With regard to the question of the touchpad.
To my knowledge, the touchpad should work even if the Synaptics touchpad driver has not been installed. Windows system contains own driver that control the touchpad and provide standard settings. Of course after installing the Synapatics driver, you should get a few more options and features more touchpad.I recommend you to download the driver for the touchpad from Synaptics driver page and install it again: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers
With regard to the problem of BT.
The laptop supports WLan Intel (Intel Wireless-N 2230) card that supports BT connectivity. Bt driver filter pack is ONLY necessary if you laptop would use an Atheros WLan card or Realtek WLan card. For the Intel WLan modules such package of filter is NOT necessary. To get BT to work, you must install the battery Toshiba BT! -
Re: Downgrade from Win 7 64 bit to 32 bit
I bought a Satellite T110-11U with embedded OEM Win 7-64 bit
I tried to get you with the media recovery tool, but the Control Panel won't let me choose between the 32/64 bit mode
Most of the software used in my business need to the 32-bit modeI also tried using the recovery of my Satellite L500-1WM, with Win7 32-bit DVDs but windows activation key does not work
How can I downgrade my embedded system
Please help me
I have to say that I see a big problem here that I can see on the download page of Toshiba that your laptop model is not supported for 32 bit OS and drivers, tools and utilities are not available.
What should do?
For good working OS you need drivers so there is no choice for you than to leave the preinstalled OS. What you can do is to install 32-bit OS (Win7/Vista) on the second partition.
Please note recovery image is stored in memory and it will be removed. It's quite complicated.

downgraded to win 7 want win 8 on
Hello I have a HP ENVY dv7-7332ea which I've demoted for win 7. Now, I decided to put windows 8 on.
I changed the bios of the legacy of uefi support. When I boot from windows 8 dvd it starts to install and then wrote a requested media device driver is not installed. He asks for the location of the driver. What is the driver and where can I get it?
see you soon
Here are the specifications of your ENVY HP dv7-7332ea Notebook computer. If you use the HP recovery media, you created when you first set up your computer, you should not require additional drivers to return the computer to a factory State. If, however, you try to use a generic Windows 8 DVD..., you may need to download the SATA/RAID driver from the Intel Download Center. Please use the current information for the Windows Device Manager RAID/SATA controller to select the right download.
If you want to restore your computer to a factory State, including the OS and the software originally installed... Please contact HP via the Portal Support HP's worldwide to check the availability of the HP recovery for your computer disks.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
