    Ahoy, all

I am trying to create a boot disk for purposes of Ghosting. I have the BartPE disk that works with the HP Elitebook 6930p. However, this does not work with Pavilion dv6t 1200 CTO. I think it's because I can't change IDE to AHCI in the BIOS (do not see the option).

And so I think that the problem lies with the drivers of storage but not sure. When I go to Pavilion dv6t 1200 CTO drivers HP website drivers 'Storage' alone I see relate to the USB and a Ricoh card reader.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

  • Pavilion dv6t-1200 Notebook System Board part number identification

I am obliged by replacing the Board system/card mother for model Pavilion dv6t-1200 FV161AV (grilled, painful, do not ask :-().  The maintenance manual identifies 5 part numbers of possible candidates.  I eliminated three of claim, but I can't do it between two others to identify and order I need.  The two remaining candidates are listed as:

511863-001 for models with graphical subsystem UMA memory

518433-001 for models with UMA and GM47 chipset graphics card

The processor is a Core2Duo T6400 (labeled AW80577T6400; 2.00/2M/800).  Two other large chips are the I/O chip that is an Intel AF82801IBM (L920NA92; SLB8Q ' 06 Taiwan) and chart/memory chipset called AC826M45; SLB94; EB920A510 and contains a logo Intel "i".  The I/O chip does not say much, but when google, seems to have associated the GM45 many including the GM47 is a member.  However, the AC826M45 seems to be a member of the Intel 845 chipset family.  The first suggests the 518433-001, but the latter suggests the 511863-001.  The FV161AV also seems to get associated with the 518433-001 in the vendor's documentation, but it varies.  Photos on the Internet have insufficient resolution to compare with the current motherboard to see who is right.

Are there references that a person (for example at HP, perhaps) is that he or she can check to disambiguate on this?  I have included all the reference numbers as I could but if more are needed, please ask.  Any help would be welcome and thanks a lot in advance.

Never mind!  I didn't know that there was a tag just below the memory.  All this time, it was under the memory.  I removed the memory and there it was:

    518433 001

And I spent hours trying to understand some chips that did not exist on the Board of Directors.  These are the times you think that you are being so smart, but prove that you can be stupid enough.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am looking for the hp support site and they only drivers for windows 10

Before you change or change anything, please create your personal HP recovery media.

You'll need a new copy of Windows 7 64-bit with a Microsoft COA and a figure of 25 unused/valid key PID from Microsoft. Windows 7 DVD may not work properly on UEFI-based systems, this is why you may need to create a FAT32 UEFI USB Windows 7 for Windows 7 installation key to install correctly.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer may ask that you confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

After installing Windows 7, you will need to install any drivers necessary before being fully functional. Most of the Windows 7 drivers on the page of software and the driver HP Pavilion Notebook-15z ab000 CTO - should work on your computer. Please do not use any BIOS or Firmware from this page.

Thanks for posting (text only) Windows Device Manager "Hardware ID" for all the remaining of the missing and/or unknown devices, as shown in the example below, and we can direct you to the correct drivers.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Pavilion 23-b239: downgrade to Windows 7

Hi all, I bought my mother a 23-b239 Pavilion all in one office.
She can not just get used to Windows 8.

I would really know if it is possible to downgrade to Windows 7, and if someone could
    kindly tell me:

    • A profile of my hardware information
    • Where can I get the drivers I need.

Thank you very much in advance!

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

    This computer is a model of consumption with no Pro Windows 8 version, there is no right to demotion. First, you will need to purchase a valid copy of Windows 7 with a product key and COA. You also need to ENABLE 'Secure Boot' and maybe 'Legacy Support' in the 'BIOS Setup boot secured' on the settings page below, before you try to install Windows 7;

    or

Also, as the hard disk can be partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the boot menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive", "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

Please report to the Windows Device Manager "Hardware ID" for all devices missing or unknown, as shown in the example below.

If the reason why you don't like Win8x is the lack of a desktop and start menu, consider downloading and installing ClassicShell.  This will give the look-and-feel of Win7 back - and it's FREE!

As for Win7, there are drivers HP to Win7 for your PC: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/7771366/model/8255011

If this page does not display Win7 when you open it, then click on edit and select Windows 7 from the menu drop down.

As for the feature, Yes, you will have the same functionality in Win7 you have in Win8x - just a different user interface.

There is no 'path of decommissioning' to Win7. Instead, you'd have to do is to boot from Win7 installation media and install it on top of Win8.  This means that you will lose all existing applications, the parameters and the data of the user in the process.

NO, we do not keep or use the same license.  Your PC came with HP OEM Win8 preinstalled, and that's what the license is for.  To install Win7, you will need to buy it and then activate it by using the product key that you receive with the purchase.  You can't buy this at HP, because he's not selling copies of Win7.

But what you CAN do is to check with the HP customer service and see if they will sell you HP to Win7 for your PC recovery media.  It would cost much less go out and buy a copy of Win7 retail.

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

    Good luck

Is it possible to downgrade from windows 8.1 for windows 7 on a HP Pavilion 500-298w?

Can someone direct me to the instructions?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can buy a license of Windows 7 64-bit.  Buy external DVD media.

You can find the HP Windows 7 64 bit drivers posted here.

This document will instruct you on how to disable the UEFI mode and the mode of inheritance.

Don't forget to create the external HP recovery media before attempting to change the BIOS settings and installing Windows 7.

  • Pavilion dv6t-7000 failed to create a virtual hard drive for a dual boot Windows 7 / windows 8

Hi, I just bought this system, a Hp Pavilion dv6t-7000, Enterntainment CTO notebook PC.  I want to take the amount of space between the C drive and create a virtual hard disk.

Disk 0 is severed as follows:

    System:

199 MB NTFS; Primary partition, Active system

C: 678.60 GB NTFS; Boot, page file, crash dump, primary Partition

D recovery: 21,53 Go NTFS; Healthy primary partition

HP_tools 108 MB Fat 32; Healthy primary partition

I would take 50 GB on C: and create a virtual hard disk to install windows 8 to have a dual boot system.  Can someone point me to a credible link that describes how do this or share the solution?  I tried a process described in TechRepublic where you create a virtual hard disk, and then start on Windows 8, shift f10 in an admin window and try to use diskpart select vdisk file that does not exist, that is to say, I'm not.

Is there anything else I need to do?  I can do this via disk management?

    Thanks much for any info.

I found this process is here.

It seems similar to the process of the technology of the Republic, but it has a few key differences. Give the TechNet process a try it may work because of the extra steps, he has.
