  Have you checked your download folder? Also you can put where you want to save a file to the desktop as, for example.   In the standard user account, users can NOT install anything because the facility, they would need admin right.

  They can still download but you can stop using Group Policy as mentioned.

  AppLocker is also advised to do, it's in the Group also policy.

  There is no API to download the files, RIP vsphere. You can use HTTP put and get, as suggested by William in the post above, to perform the upload/download operations, which are similar to the operations carried out by vSphere Client data store Navigator. You can also see examples of file HTTP which are delivered with the vSphere SDK package, which illustrates the use of HTTP put and get.

  once renamed, if everything continues to work, you can move, remove and delete them.  If you have a problem, restore the original names.

  I find it easy to insert a sign $ before all the folder/file names I want to test.  find and restore the names of these files/folders is particularly easy.

  I assume you have XP Pro and that you encrypted files by using the Encrypting File System (EFS).  When you use EFS, the these files decryption key is stored encrypted with your certificate store.  When you use EFS, you * MUST * back up your certificates or risk permanently losing access to your encrypted files.  Details are provided in this article which is required reading if you use EFS:

  Jump down to the paragraph "why you should back up your certificates.
  Line background here, is that you have two options to recover the access to these files.  The first is to restore your certificate from the backup of the certificate that you created by the article above before you reformat your computer.  The second option is to completely restore your previous system from a backup of the image-style you did your system before reformatting and reinstalling.  Otherwise, I fear that you have permanenty lost access to these files.

  EFS is affectionately known as the 'Recycle Bin delay' in this forum.

  I've never heard of this bug. I suspect it is nothing to do with the bridge and more likely bridge reacting badly to a flaw in the filing system.

  If I were you, I would do a full control the integrity of the filing system, but also to see things like network / mapped drives, drives external and software driver and possibly anti-virus software - basically nothing that changes the behavior of the operating system.
