VinodXLS is a microsoft proprietary format. You cannot use UTL_FILE or SQL Loader to load the XLS file in your Oracle DB. What you use is heterogeneous services. Here's a form asktom link that explains it in detail. [url http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:4406709207206 #18830681837358] ASKTOM: Heterogeneous Services

How to download in Excel (XLS) format?
Hello
I installed the 4.2 APEX. According to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35124/int_rpt.htm #CHDCFHFE, users can download XLS format of the reports. But there are options PDF, CSV, HTML and e-mail only for my pages. How to activate XLS?
Thank youHello
Excel and RTF export are available only if BI Publisher is used as a print server. Other options for print server support only CSV and PDF export.

Hello
I would like to upload Excel file to database using application, I know we can do with CSV
http://avdeo.com/2008/05/21/uploading-Excel-sheet-using-Oracle-Application-Express-apex/
But, is it possible to download XLS files?
Thank youHi 841846,
APEX 4.0 came out last year, and right at that time, Kris Rice (Oracle) has published this blog:
http://krisrice.blogspot.com/2010/02/yet-another-Apex-listener-EA.htmlThe APEX Server I use, did the upgrade, it does not work.
Oracle.com doesn't have this feature, so not possible to show a demo.
If you can get the changes made to your server, it works fine, excel upload to a collection, where you can INSERT INTO your table via a process page anonymous PL/SQL block.
Create another anonymous PL/SQL block process to remove the header line.Make sure you have only 1 sheet in your excel spreadsheet, he'll throw everything in the collection.
Hope that helps.

BlackBerry Classic best app for classic excel?
which is better Excel app for classic. docs to go very low - does not recognize the links. Download xls sheets should be easy and error-free. Android store by amazon is poor, the search for an app shows you tons of unnecessary applications and too broadly. isn't, identify what you're asking.
Ok thank you. is there anything in the Android store which works better?

Insert the page elements when loading data
Hi all
I use APEX 5.0 and using wizard to load data to download the data.
My table has 7 fields and I need to insert 3 fields in the table while loading data.
I have created a process after Parse the data downloaded as below.
The result is that the 5th field will be First Row column as 'Y' and no 6th and 7th column. There is value of 5th field only.
When click on next to data validation page, it shows the 5th field with column field and 6th without the name of the column.
Please help me to the point where I must change my code.
BEGIN
APEX_COLLECTION. ADD_MEMBER)
p_collection_name = > 'PARSE_COL_HEAD ',.
p_c001 = > 'HUBCODE ',.
p_c002 = > 'UPLOAD_FILENAME ',.
p_c003 = > 'UPLOAD_DATE');
FOR UPLOAD_ROW IN (SELECT SEQ_ID
OF APEX_COLLECTIONS
WHERE COLLECTION_NAME = "SPREADSHEET_CONTENT")
LOOP
APEX_COLLECTION. () UPDATE_MEMBER_ATTRIBUTE
p_collection_name = > 'SPREADSHEET_CONTENT ',.
p_seq = > UPLOAD_ROW. SEQ_ID,
p_attr_number = > '5',.
p_attr_value = >: P2_HUB_CODE);APEX_COLLECTION. () UPDATE_MEMBER_ATTRIBUTE
p_collection_name = > 'SPREADSHEET_CONTENT ',.
p_seq = > UPLOAD_ROW. SEQ_ID,
p_attr_number = > '6'.
p_attr_value = >: P2_FILE_NAME);APEX_COLLECTION. () UPDATE_MEMBER_ATTRIBUTE
p_collection_name = > 'SPREADSHEET_CONTENT ',.
p_seq = > UPLOAD_ROW. SEQ_ID,
p_attr_number = > '7'.
p_attr_value = > SYSDATE);END LOOP;
END;Want to close this loop and hope that it will be useful for others.
In the end, I managed download document using the latest plugin for APEX 5.0 excel2collections.
As MK pointed out, I can control my data using the plugin.
Another point more directly is users can download xls or xlsx files, do not need to convert them to csv format before downloading.
I thank all of you for the help.

I use NetBeans IDE 7 to make GUI. I wonder if there is a way to let the NetBeans IDE 7 dealing with the construction of management background since JProgressBar and jTextArea does not at all. I have set jProgressArea value and jTextArea text manually - I believe that they must be fixed by SwingWorker (or is there any alternative?) to do their job properly. So my question is: can I do this using the view Design of NetBeans IDE? I don't see this option.
public class JFrame extends javax.swing.JFrame { public JFrame() { initComponents(); } private void initComponents() { jButton1 = new javax.swing.JButton(); jProgressBar1 = new javax.swing.JProgressBar(); jScrollPane1 = new javax.swing.JScrollPane(); jTextArea1 = new javax.swing.JTextArea(); jButton1.setText("START DOWNLOADING XLS FILES"); jButton1.addActionListener(new java.awt.event.ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { jButton1ActionPerformed(evt); } }); jTextArea1.setColumns(20); jTextArea1.setEditable(false); jTextArea1.setFont(new java.awt.Font("Tahoma", 0, 11)); jTextArea1.setRows(5); jScrollPane1.setViewportView(jTextArea1); } private void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { try { new JFrame().callPowerSystemInformationGetFunctions(); } catch (MalformedURLException ex) { Logger.getLogger(JFrame.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } private void callPowerSystemInformationGetFunctions() throws MalformedURLException { getCrossborderPowerFlows(); jProgressBar1.setValue(50); getCrossborderTransmissionCapacity(); jProgressBar1.setValue(100); } private void getCrossborderPowerFlows() throws MalformedURLException { jTextArea1.append("Executing getCrossborderPowerFlows!"+System.getProperty("line.separator")); /*implementation*/ jTextArea1.append("Exiting getCrossborderPowerFlows!"+System.getProperty("line.separator")); } private void getCrossborderTransmissionCapacity() throws MalformedURLException { jTextArea1.append("Executing getCrossborderTransmissionCapacity!"+System.getProperty("line.separator")); /*implementation*/ jTextArea1.append("Exiting getCrossborderTransmissionCapacity!"+System.getProperty("line.separator")); } public static void main(String args[]) { try { javax.swing.UIManager.setLookAndFeel( javax.swing.UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName() ); } catch (ClassNotFoundException ex) { java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger(JFrame.class.getName()).log(java.util.logging.Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (InstantiationException ex) { java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger(JFrame.class.getName()).log(java.util.logging.Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (IllegalAccessException ex) { java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger(JFrame.class.getName()).log(java.util.logging.Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (javax.swing.UnsupportedLookAndFeelException ex) { java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger(JFrame.class.getName()).log(java.util.logging.Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { new JFrame().setVisible(true); } }); } private javax.swing.JButton jButton1; private javax.swing.JProgressBar jProgressBar1; private javax.swing.JScrollPane jScrollPane1; private javax.swing.JTextArea jTextArea1; }

CFFILE:upload - accept - problem
Greetings,
My desire is to restrict downloads of files in .doc / .pdf / .xls documents.
Everything seems to work fine when I download .doc or .pdf documents.
However, when I try a download .xls, I get the error message displayed in
my code section < cfcatch > < / cfcatch > below. I understand what the error
message indicates, but do not understand why.
I tried the two application/msexcel - and - application/ms-excel and have
has received the same error. So maybe I have the wrong syntax for excel
component "".
Does anyone know the correct syntax to use for the excel component?
Is there something else I need to do about excel files?
Also does have a work around for the new microsoft extensions?
Example: docx, xlsx
Thank you for this insight.
Leonard
-My code below-
< cftry >
< cffile
action = "upload".
destination = "C:\path\to\the\folder".
FileField = "upload_doc."
nameconflict = "overwrite".
accept = "application/msword, application/pdf, application/ms-excel" >
< cfcatch type = "application" >
Type - lettering
Message - the MIME type of the file uploaded application / vnd.ms - excel is not accepted by the server.
Retail - only files of type application/msword, application/pdf, application/ms-excel can be downloaded.
Make sure that you download a file of the appropriate type.
< / cfcatch >
< / cftry >The MIME type that is appropriate for the Excel files is indeed application / vnd.ms - excel. This is the value that you should use in the attribute accepts .

I have recived an e-mail message with p.j. I was unable to open reason given was, necessary downloaded free microsoft office trial version software and have the confirmation number, now what that?
Frank
xls files are created by Microsoft Excel program.
You don't have to have the Microsoft Office Suite installed in order to open xls files.
All you have to do is Excel Viewer that is designed to open all xls and xlsx files.
Here is the download link to Excel Viewer. It's a FREE program.http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=10

XLS-models with BI Publisher using and download the reports with APEX
Hello
I already create PDF reports with RTF Templates. In the APEX, I create a button and a process of "Download" to get the PDF-reports the BI Publisher. ". We use version 11.1.7.
Now I try the same thing with XLS-Templates. I create the XLS model in the editor of BI and where it works very well. Now I need also an APEX-"Download" - Process to download the XLS reports to the client. The method already used doesn't work for RTF models.
Kind regards

Lack of options to download IR: XLS, RTF
I have (Windows XP) in Database 10 g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0-3.2.1.00.10 Apex. I only IR two download options: CSV, PDF.
Apex.Oracle.com (Apex 3.2.1.00.10) I have 4 options: CSV, XLS, PDF, RTF (photo s. http://progkor.inf.elte.hu/a/DownloadFormats.png).
Why Miss XLS, or RTF?
AlbertHello Albert,.
I think you'll need BI Publisher to be able to offer other choices. Also, if you do not have BI Publisher, I think you need to actually set up reports of formatting for the XLS, or RTF output. I can't say for sure because I have NOT BI Publisher.
Don.
