• Fonts in linked pictures cause printing problems

  This isn't a question I already solved this problem, I just wanted to save someone else the time.

  Problem: Print job stops at halfway through document

  Error code: 49.4C02

  Printer: HP online (3 different models)

  Program used: InDesign CS6 creative cloud

  I printed this task before and never had a problem. Then one day, after several textual changes, the PDF has stopped printing and send printers in a fatal error that caused their restart. I had no idea of what had happened and why. Everything I remembered to change it's text. It was printing on some printers, but none of the printers on my floor. At first I thought that the file was corrupted, so I re-recorded it. He re-recorded and re-recorded it. I recorded it with all types of export parameter. I even replaced vector illustrations with lousy jpeg images. However, does not. My boss is kind of an important guy for the Government, so when he started to get upset, we all started to scramble for a solution.

  I was wary of the potential problem fonts, but it confused me as they had printed before. I opened the PDF file and go to properties > Fonts and fonts of saw a Type 1. Do not know this, I Googled it and read a bajillion Web sites, still has not found the answer in removing.

  Now, at this point, I had removed this whole family of fonts (Type > Search a font > replace), exported, always opens the PDF, here! WTF, really? InDesign can no longer find this font.

  Well, because in the new CS6, preflight check is no longer something you have to go manually, it works automatically similar to the dynamic spell check. My document had no errors, but I knew that it IS having some kind of error. I went to the preflight window (window > output > preflight), clicked on the tab menu and is gone «Defining profiles...» ». Because the parameter "Default" implemented by Adobe has not actively 'Fonts Types unauthorized' selected, it was not contagious fonts of Type 1, which was originally a day of waste COMPUTER resources and my sanity.

  I made a new profile, verified 'Types of fonts unauthorized', checked ALL the options of 'Type 1', registered and let it scan. What is c? 1 error! Hmmmm... He came from a linked .eps file! I open the file, I must have forgotten to outline the police over all changes. And I'm assuming that because only the police was connected via an element, that when InDesign went to export all policies, it does not access or didn't know what to do with the police who was in my .eps file, until he has done has been transformed INTO a Type 1 font (or as I learned (, a PostScript font) and she as well as all my other fonts embedded in the PDF file. That's why when I was trying to find this font earlier, he could not be found because it was not IN the document, it has been LINKED to the document. This policy on his own prints well, but it is converted to a PostScript font when he returns to a component in InDesign.

  My office all did a victory dance, once we have solved the problem. Ridiculous. I hope now, so if someone ends up having the same problem, what I did, now they know where to look to find the problem!   It's a pretty rare printer that does not support T1 fonts, I think. I suspect that you might not have the fonts embedded in the .eps file and were not put to download to the printer with the work (if they were still installed).

  No problem with attaching a photo to a new e-mail, but you cannot reduce the size of the photo, and that's exactly what I want

  It does not seem likely to me that this is not the default program (it seems that you would be having other problems), but I guess it's possible - and it's the solutiion most likely to read a bunch of articles on the problem.  In addition, there are two other options to try if this does not work.

  Another option is to do a right-click on the photo and click send to / recipient of the message that should activate the same program but maybe to do this way, it will work when the reverse is not.

  This may seem a stupid question, but it's something I can't understand.  When I go to a photo on my Muse Web site a link to a larger file, where can I find the address info to put in the link.  My photos are on my hard drive in photos.  What I have to put them somewhere like photo bucket or the such to get an address to put the link?  Thank you for your help.

• Restoring the broken links to illustrations?

  I placed 8 photos in the first chapter of my book. I think I should have had them in Dropbox when I passed, so that I can continue to work on my laptop in another room on my main computer.  When I went back to work on my desk, I was warned of broken links.  I was unable to restore the links that I had withdrawn my Dropbox photo files.  Currently, they only exist on the pages of my first chapter.  I can't understand how to restore the links that I have been unable to transfer to Dropbox.f

  In terms of geek, the link is a "pointer" to an image. The image data are taken from the image at the time of the output file, and the same image can be linked to any number of times at any size (or resized in ID) without affecting in any way the actual data file.

  This does not mean that image quailty will not suffer during sizing contant, but when that happens, it is not suffereing form the repetition, but rather of the scale causing the 'effective resolution' to be less than optimal. Because you always use exactly the same data, then putting the same file will have no effect. In this case this ist would be necessary to modify the image data directly to get the appropriate resolution (and the increase in resolution is without loss of quality is essentially a chimera).

  This method differs constantly resizing when editing in Photoshop. If you have a group of pixels in Photoshop and their scale, Photoshop must interpolate and create pixels or remove pixels to get the new size. It is destructive of the image and cumulative. Photoshop Smart Objects are more similar to links in ID.

• linked picture missing parts (wtf?)

  Hi all, I met just the behavior of indesign creepiest ever.

  I downloaded an image of google, ( http://www.liftran.com/images/products/374.jpg ), but when I've bind it in Indesign, appears without the thing of green fabric (the preview before it is OK if)... After a analysis further, it is that they are in fact two different (hanger, handle, piston) images as you can see on the second screen.

  I tried to save it from Photoshop .psd but no results.

  There is a shadow in Photoshop. When you select the file to import, switch on "Show the Import Options" and uncheck the box 'Apply Photoshop Clipping Path'. You can then go to object > Clipping Path > options and select the appropriate path.

• Illustrator could not find the linked file

  When I open an Illustrator file that uses linked pictures, I get a warning that it could not find the linked files and asking me to fix all the links one by one! Linked images are sitting in the same folder as the Illustrator file that uses. HAVE this problem only occurs when I need to open the file on another computer (PC or Mac) and I guess that's because Illustrator uses an absolute path to the loading of the images related rather than a relative path based on the location of the file.

  Everyone knows the same problem? All solutions?

  Are all the files in the same folder and they create and save this

  document with all in the same folder. If they created the

  the document with files in other places and then moved the files to the

  good record, it will not work.

• Move Illustrator files to new computer: the LACK of LINKS!

  I just bought a new computer and all my files in project, massively, moved from the old computer to the new. I kept the structure of directories and files EXACTLY as they were on the old computer. Now, all the links of Illustrator (for photos, etc.) are broken.

  Is it possible to do WITHOUT breaking the links? Alternatively, is there a program that will help in the process?

  You can package the files before you move with file > package (and activate related Include files) or repeat after the move with the links Panel.
