Drive problem hard "smart hard disk error".

Hello, about 6 months ago, I bought my HP envy m6-1252so, and since then it has been slow til to get totally stuck showing the "blue screen" error message, a month later, I turned on and showed me the message "no device found", then I went where I bought it and they said it was a software problem. That's why the guarantee would not fix because it takes that hardware problems (I have 3 years warranty). A friend, who is a maintenance-pc professional told me that the hard drive has problems and he screwed up, he has absolutely everything deleted hard disk ensuring that it would be totally free from virus and he reinstalled windows saying that I'm having the same problem soon, I had since re - install windows all almost 2 weeks because that the problem won't let me run windows showing me the message "error of. smart disc"and it could not connect to windows. My question is how could get my replacement of hard disk without having the same answer "it's a software problem?

Sincerely, Milton.

Milton,

The "SMART Hard Disc Error' returned by your computer indicates that the hard disk has failed or is about to fail. Please see test of hardware failures (Windows 8) and/or test a hard drive in the BIOS for instructions on testing your computer for a hard disk failure. If the error codes are returned or a test does not complete, please contact the official HP support in your region / country, via the Portal to support HP worldwide, to file a warranty claim.

You will need to use the HP recovery media, you created when you first set up your computer to restore the computer to a factory state after the hard drive has been replaced. If you create your personal HP recovery media, also contact HP support in your region / country, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • SMART Hard Disk Error - replace hard disk?

A couple of days, I got an error when I start my computer (HP Pavilion dv6-6071eo), saying "SMART hard disk error" followed by a message telling me that SMART disk check has detected and imminent failure. He told me to my backup files, and then press F2 and do a hard drive test. On the last row, it displays "Hard Disk 1 (301).

I tried to run the hard drive test, which does not instantly. I also ran the BIOS hard drive test. It meets the short test without problem and then stopped quite some time after the long trial began with the error "Disk Hard 1 full 305. My computer has also been slow over the last week.

From what I've read so far, it seems that I need to replace my hard drive. Is this correct? If so, it would be a suitable replacement (functional): http://www.dustinhome.se/product/5010151237/western-digital-black-2-5-320gb-7200rpm-sata-300-16mb/#i.... Also, would it not interesting (and possible) upgrade to an SSD for reduction of noise and heat, which is a problem with this laptop (and several other portable simular at HP) compared to other laptops.

In addition, it might be good to mention that my warranty has expired.

Have you checked to see if there is a free space left on the hard drive? A complete hard drive will make the system work very slowly and it may also keep the system working properly if it is fairly comprehensive. The fact that you take the short test means that there is nothing major to mechanically wrong with the drive. Just right-click on the icon for the main C:\ drive likely "computer: and select 'Properties'.» If the disc is not actually full, then I suggest to replace. If you can afford a SSD, Yes, there is no doubt that is the way to go. There is nothing wrong on one ssd, other than an occasional fight to install it. I have been using SSD for awhile and I had installation problems we often see reported here, but do not be discouraged, we are here to help.

  • SMART hard disk error message

I have a Pavilion dv4-2045dx and I got the "SMART hard disk error" message since last night after my daughter felt my cell phone and I had a Crash report screen. Let him sit in the hope it to cool and start as expected. No luck...

I already looked for several responses to the problem, but always returned empty-handed. I did the hard reset and I checked everything in the Diagnostices system only to control memory and battery by the way. I have not yet contacted HP about this. If I can fix it myself, I would rather to do.

Anyone know of a way I can fix this WITHOUT having to buy a new hard drive?

    Thank you very much

Sorry to bring bad news, but... If you have a SMART hard disk error then the drive is toast. There is no way around that.

The INTELLIGENT notification system gives you a report that the BIOS sees when it queries the hard disk during the Power On Self Test, he always does before the start in the Windows operating system.

I hope that you have created a set of HP recovery cd. If you did, then you still have your operating system intact. If you do not, you can buy a replacement of HP recovery disk. They are inexpensive.

  • Smart hard disk error: "Press enter to continue and it starts OK.

I have run chkdsk full and sometimes without error, but at startup it says Smart hard disk error. Press ENTER to continue and it starts OK

Go into the BIOS and run the drive Diagnostics (long version).

Normally, when you get a SMART disk error this means imminent disk failure.  Smart drive test checks the environment of hard disk and is much more than chkdsk thorugh.

A cautious soul would replace the disc if the diagnostic test is a failure.

Is your laptop still under warranty?

  • HP LAPTOP: SMART HARD DISK ERROR

Hi rebotted my laptop not had long and it is now coming up with smart hard disk error?

-What can I do or I just take it back.

    Hello

If you're still on schedule when you can return the laptop, then this is what I would say - a Smart error would indicate that the hard disk is running out.

You must back up all important data and replace the hard drive.

    S.M.A.R.T.

You can run a HDD diagnosis to confirm the hard disk error.

    Hello

My Portege R200 shows "built-in HARD disk error" start-up. " In the BIOS screen, it says "no drive" on the HARD drive.

What should I do? I checked the connection and the drive is connected to the fine. I heard no noise when starting.
Is this HARD drive problem? or maybe motherboard? Help!

    The HARD disk rotates upward?

Try resetting the BIOS to default settings.

Other than that, I think that it's not just you can do except send the laptop to a repair center.

  • SMART hard disk error (301)

I WANT m6-1120sw my friend. When I turn it on it shows SMART drive hard error, said diagnosis: "SMART Check: NOT AVAILABLE, short DST: caution. His old HDD, I replaced it with a new one, but nothing has changed. -What would be a problem with the SATA controller on the motherboard or is it something different?

    Hello

Smart disk error indicates failure of hard drive. You still get any ID failure?

Since you have already replaced it & not showing is not available, the probability is for the connection by defective SATA cable or SATA controllers or motherboard itself.
What of all the other disk hard test - wide?

Try HD Tune Pro software currently running on the system.

You may have to contact HP for repair.

    Thank you

  • HP 23-g116 5CM44802Q5: smart hard disk error

I just started to have an error...  Error Smart hard drive on my desktop and it has only 1 year.  What could be the problem.  y at - it an easy fix?  May not have a hard drive problem, it is not used every day.

    Hi katcopass,

That looks like you have a hard disk failure. To make sure that we should launch a hard drive diagnostic.

To access the menu diagnostic you want to start typing the ESC key as soon as you turn the unit on and it should bring you to the start menu. Press F2 it and it will bring you to the diagnosis.

If the diagnostic fails, it should give you a failure ID 24 characters; in this case, you want to exactly copy down and call customer service. According to the model, there are three main numbers:

    • For the home and specific products, dial + 1 800 474 6836 (e.g. ENVY, Pavilion, lines of spectrum)
    • For the company's products, please call + 1 800 334 5144 (e.g. Prodesk, Probook, Pro tablet lines)
    • For Elite Business Products, call + 1 866 625 1175 (Elitedesk, Elitebook lines Elitepad)

You will need to provide the following information to the representative answering:

    • Serial number
    • Product number
    • ID failure of 24 characters

    Thank you!

  • 15 - e016TX: SMART hard disk error

When I started the laptop before 2 days I got this smart disk check error 301. I registered number free and portable compain is under warranty, so I have no problem, but I want my hard drive data.

It's true on some models, but see the manual. In your case, the hard disk appears in the section "automatic client repair" and there is an accessible sign of the customer in order to remove the hard drive and always keep the warranty. Just reseating and affects upward before sending it to HP.

If he really bothers you to open it and I do not understand if this is the case, there are other ways to get data but require some advanced tech skills as booting from a live recording of LInux and these methods would still require some sort of external storage drive to store data. A large USB key would work. After the back if you want to discuss these possibilities.

Respected by all those that I got a "SMART disk error" error smart disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure no data loss Please save the content immediately and run the system diagnostics hard drive test. Hard drive 301.
    Now what should I do?
    My model number is 17-f114dx
Please advice me a good way to solve this problem.

    Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 750 GB hard drive - the drive on the following link is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 104 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the original operating system (Windows 8.1) on the new drive and then upgrade to Windows 10 once again.

A better option, as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the original 8.1 upgrade, would be to simply perform a new installation of Windows 10 as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

  • SMART hard disk error after replacing HD

    Hello!

I SO hope that this someboidy is able to help me.

I'm NOT a novice but I am confused.

I replaced with the same model HD HD CQ58 provided with COMPAQ because the old HD was shot - how it happened escapes me.

Anyhoo, after screwing a new HD I wanted to put OS on it, but I get the following error just after pressing set button / stop:

    SMART disk error

INTELLIGENT drive control has detected an imminent failure. So no los data, please backup the content immediately and run the system diagnostics hard drive.

    Hard drive 1 (301)

    F2 System Diagnostics

    ENTER - Continues start

I will return the LINK later.

First of all, I pushed ENTER. What has emerged is:

I pressed F2 and this is what happens:

    I get the diagnostics Menu.

    DST short: NOT AVAILABLE

    ==============================

For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/PCDiags

I tried the LINK, it does not exist.

I also went in the Boot Options in the BIOS to boot from a USB and put the USB HD in the first place.

When I restart it does not recognize a USB key. I tried Windows 8 and UBUNTU which ususally works on all the machines I've fixed so far.

    No chance whatsoever.

    As I mentioned earlier:

    I'm puzzled.

I have no recovery CD and cannot make one because I'm not running Win8 on any of my PC.

    Thus, any suggestions?

    Help, please

    Thanks in advance

    Henry of Kai

    First of all:

Thank you all very much for taking the time and you answer!

And now, for what happened after I did all what has been proposed:

    Nothing.

    The message remained the same.

Still no hard drive (even if it was new)

Then I took a hard drive to work with Win7 on it from another machine, put it in the Compaq and... nothing.

I tried the USB with Win8 (NTFS with Rufus) does not.

I don't know why, I tried again, but when I used the same USB with UBUNTU Live - 14.04. on that I had taken or tried before... He recognized at startup.

Weird hard drive wiped completely since it was not recognized by the BIOS (one with Win7 on it... data paths but I had backup ).

So, now I'm running the faithful Tahr on the Compaq and it works fine.

I will try to put the original Win8 on it, but the system doesn't seem like more since USB NTFS NTFS are not recongised at startup.

Well Anyhoo, I got the machine to work.

Would have been nice to know what was wrong with him to solve future problems, but at least I had to register in this forum

So I could bore you guys with questions in the future.

    Take care

    Kai
