Off topic, I know, but you can work some magic for another problem. When I boot, when half of the icons appear in the notification area, I get a message that Windows Firewall is disabled. After the last icons appear, the message disappears and the firewall turns on again. It's annoying, and I'd love to [repair]. Thank you.

Assuming that the message "the Windows Firewall is disabled" comes from the Security Center (Windows), looks like you see what we call a "race condition". Essentially, Security Center is loading before the Windows Firewall was fully charged (may be due to the amount of NAV system resources then uses what he loads and runs his own control over the firewall).

Until the warning goes away in a few minutes, don't worry, you see a normal behavior (for Windows XP).

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running on an Intel i7 2600 system with an ASUS P8P67 motherboard.  Intel virtualualization has been enabled in the bios.  Windows XP mode has been installed on the system and the operating system has been updated with Service Pack 1.  Windows Virtual PC has been downloaded and installed, but does not appear in the start menu in the programs list. Now download for Windows Virtual PC will not allow to install another, nor that the first installation can be uninstalled because it is not on the list of programs. Virtual PC folder of Windows in the Program Files x 86 folder has only a folder with two files integration components; IntegrationCompnents.iso and Precompact.iso.

  • Problem with task bar and appearance of the start menu.

My account is the only account on my computer of the family that seemed to have lost the look of Windows Vista in the start menu and taskbar, as well as the windows that appear. It seems to resemble an earlier version of windows, but with the arrows and vista available, wait his gray. I went into the control panel to see if I had changed it accidentally, but he says he's still the appearance of vista. • Why all the users do not appear on the start screen?

Our MacBook Pro has two users with administrator privileges. At the start, that a user is displayed. How the other user is on the device without going through the first users of connection and disconnection?

If only a user will appear, how to change the user who first appears?

You have activated the automatic connection?

«System preferences > users and groups, select the "connection options" in the list on the left.»

Unlock the control panel and disable the automatic connection if you want to start on the screen that allows you to choose a user to connect as.

It is better for safety if you disable the automatic connection. I would also say that you do not work as an admin for 'everyday' tasks if you can help it.

    Hello Shirley,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Communities.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess this must be frustrating. Let me try and help you with the problem.

What do you mean exactly by "Microsoft shut after having security problems?

Kindly, follow these methods and check if that helps:

    Method 1:
Check if all applications are in the section "my applications".

If you are able to find the apps in the "My apps" section, then refer to this article and PIN back to the start screen.

What happened to the apps on my PC?

    Method 2:
Now try to run the Troubleshooter of Apps. This tool can automatically identify and fix problems with applications and store.

    Method 3:
Also, for the problem the Bank of Windows, let us try emptying the cache memory store:

    a. type in the right edge of the screen, and then click Search.
    b. enter run in the search box and then press or click run.

    c. Enter the command wsreset.exe run and then press or click OK.

Let us know if it helps. If you have any other questions, we will be happy to help you.

  • recently programs do not appear on the start menu?

I checked in properties in the start menu, but do not see anything wrong with it and I need to know how to put the 'programs' recently back to the list in the menu start? At the moment it is all areas even after opening certain programs and check again, yet show blanks. The pinned programs above are correct.

I think it was caused by the update of Advanced SystemCare version, but I don't know, I have tried to use the system restore to go back before I installed this update, he told me that it can not be restored to the point. b. right click on an empty area of the start menu, and then click Properties.

    c. click Customize.

  • Windows Fax and Scan does not appear in the start menu

: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and you want to (a) send faxes via a modem local fax and b scan docs from a local scanner. I mean, there should be a program Windows fax and scan shown in the start menu. I clicked all programs on the start menu, and it doesn't always show. Suggestions?

    From: Hal

Fax and scan is available in Windows Vista Business and Ultimate editions, it is not available in any of the Windows Vista Home editions.  Since you have a version of Windows Vista Edition family, the only option of fax is a third-party product.  These products work under Windows Vista:

    Snappy Fax

    http://www.snappysoftware.com/

    RKSFax

    http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

    VentaFax

    http://www.VentaFax.com/

    FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 7.5

    http://www.FaxTalk.com/products/ftfcp/index.htm

I have seen reports that the free version of BVRP also works with Windows Vista:

    http://www.usr.com/BVRP/bvrp.asp

    BVRP PhoneTools

Given the above comes with the new USR modem, I don't know if it will work with no - USR modems.  Alternatively, you can send faxes via your Internet connection provided you are willing to pay for an Internet E - Fax service:

  • New hard drisk does not appear in the start menu

Original title: how to install windows vista again portable hard drive

Hai I bye a hard disk for my computer laptop is 550 HP Seriers notebook, because my previous hard disk have complaints, but when I corrected this hard drive in the laptop the start menu does not display of hardisk why?

    Hello

    1. you have a single hard drive connected to the computer?

The issue could be related to the physical connection of the hard disk, I would suggest that you check the physical connection of the hard drive and check if that helps. You can also get in touch with the manufacturer for details on the connection.

The issue could also be tied to the BIOS settings. You can get in touch with the computer manufacturer for help with the BIOS settings.

    Note:

BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • (Impossible to write in the InDesign Server forum) - [Java/Corba] images appear only as gray box

Hello, sorry to post here, but I can't post in the Forum ID. click on "post message" deletes the text...  We are working on our first plugin for InDesign Server. We create Documents with boxes and placing graphics (in PDF format) in this field. The problem is: after you open the document in InDesign, we see just boxes grey and without pictures. The links in the document are ok and when we print, we see the images. In my opinion, the internal preview of graphics are not created. Printing uses the original file, and there we can see the image.  In the code, we create a rectangle with addRectangle() and place the image with the command place(). Is there anything else that we have to see the image in InDesign?  Thanks for all the ideas Klaus Friese

    Hi Klaus,

Take a look at the following to be called at startup:

    InterfacePtr iServerSettings (iSession, UseDefaultIID());
    If (iServerSettings)
    iServerSettings-> SetImagePreview (true);
