Dudas Técnicas between vmware sphere4 o otro virtualizador

Hola

I would like my asesoran sober unas cuestiones Técnicas para improve el performance of the company in which laboro

is that me han pedido, el Análisis're muy poca information as tengo y is sober the platform of sphere4.

tenemos una Máquina fisica UN Hp Blade 2 processors (8 cores in total) fisicos her license del VMware vSphere Essentials Plus I serviria

para los technical of the empresa can hacer virtualizaciones comprometer usar los 8 carrots in each vps as ellos creen?

Necesitaria buy algo mas.

currently estamos usuando version gratuita para test lastimosamente pero no podemos usar mas 4 processors in los vps that crean.

If alguien me pudiera dar mano by poder resolver esta ingconita that I have, to thank los.

In vmware las maquinas office solo las puedes define como con maximo 8 vcores. If you intention are aprovechar los 24 cores en UN mv solo aren't possible.

Experts of HI, need some advice what is the difference between vmware.log vmware - 1.log, vmware - 2.log... Why are there different logs created. I understand the vmware.log is to check when the VM not suite or something, but not sure the rest feed files. Thank you

Log files are rotated once a virtual computer is turned on or when the file reaches a certain size. The vmware.log (without number) is the current log file. By default, the old files are kept for purposes of troubleshooting. You can - even if I do not - recommend disable this behavior, or even configure the virtual machine to do not create the log files at all.

  • Data store space used not maching between VMWare and 3PAR

    Hello world

I have a strange behavior between our environment VMWare and 3PAR storage system.

I checked each data store of our cluster and for each of them, the space used in vSphere Client does not match the size of the user 'used' their volume associated with 3PAR.  The value displayed in VMware is higher.

For example, our data store named DS03 has space around 1 TB in VMWare.  And when I checked in the Console of 3PAR, I see that the volume created for this data store has a size of the user 'used' 722 GB.

While doing some research, I came across this post: ability to store data about the free space is not the same thing in VMware and 3PAR

But the problem I encounter is quiet different. It's the opposite. I do not understand why the displayed value is higher in VMWare...  We are also running vSphere Server version 5.1.0

    Any advice? Ideas?

    Thank you very much.

It's the ASIC 3PAR inline zero detection function stripping zeros of incoming data until they land on the disc. Www.3parug.com try this happens a lot.

  • Unable to ping Virtual Machines between VMWare

I currently have two VM installed and have two Windows XP.  I can ping the computer host for virtual machines, but I can't use a ping on the other. VM - get "Request timed out".  Two virtual machines are in network NAT configuration.  I also tried to put on a team, but they still cannot ping each other. Did I miss something? - I think that changing the Bridge connections can work, but I think that NAT should also work. - especially when they are in a team.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure that the security/AntiVirus/firewall software does not block ICMP requests and if need be, temporarily disable the firewall/AntiVirus/security software during the test.   Note also that some AntiVirus/firewall/security software fix protocols on the network that are still activated card to temporarily disable the firewall/AntiVirus/security software.

If it does not then need to see output of the ipconfig/all command on the host and the guests.

Copy & paste the following commands, as is, and then press ENTER...

On the host computer in a in a command prompt. (Start > all programs > Accessories > prompt)

    ipconfig /all > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\host_ipconfig.txt"

This will create a file on the desktop of the host named host_ipconfig.txt

On the guests in a command prompt. (Start > all programs > Accessories > prompt)

    ipconfig /all > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\guest_ipconfig.txt"

This will create a file on the client named guest_ipconfig.txt Office

Note: Of course change the name of the guest_ipconfig.txt file to make the difference between the guests.

Archive the files together unreleased and attach the .zip file to a response message.

  • Sharing LUNS between VMware Clusters

We currently have a 3.5 divisΘe in farms host.

Y at - it problems with sharing LUNS between clusters in the same farm.

I don't think that it is a good idea, but I can't seem to find any documentation indicating one or the other.

Of course you must have shared LUNs within the cluster.  But it seems that you ask if you must share LUNS between clusters.  Yes at least one logical unit number.  This way if you need to move virtual machines between clusters, you can.  And of course you mentioned your lun model.

  • Configuration of IPSec in VMWare ESXi can be applied to virtual machines running?

    Hello

I have an operating system running inside VMWare ESXi 5.1.  Let's call is "MyLinux".  It is a modified version of Linux which does not support IPSec.  So I try to get VMWare to manipulate IPSec for MyLinux.

I used esxcli orders to successfully create configurations for IPSec between VMWare itself and other systems.

However, I wonder if I can use the same esxcli commands to configure IPSec between MyLinux and other systems?  In my tests, VMWare does not perform tunneling IPSec data between the running machines and other virtual systems.

It is an illustration of the configuration I created for MyLinux in VMWare.  I also have a security policy that is not visible.

Name Source address Destination address State SPI Mode Encryption Algorithm, integrity algorithm to life

    ExternalToMyLinuxSA EXTERNAL. IPv6.ADDRESS infinite mature MyLINUX.IPv6.ADDRESS of hmac-sha2-256 0 x 256 transport 3des-cbc

When I captured a trace TCP ping between MyLinux and the external system, MyLinux never sent the IPSec packets. Everything was sent in the clear.  This suggests that VMWare does not apply the rule for MyLinux, but I would like to confirm.  Thank you.

    Kwabena

When you configure IPSec on ESXi, you sécuriserez the VMkernel traffic, not the virtual machine... If you want to protect the traffic of the virtual machine, you will need to enable IPSec on guest operating system.

Here is more information on IPSec on ESXi: VMware KB: IPv6 and IPsec configuration on vSphere ESX and ESXi 4.1, 5.x ESXi

  • IPSec on VMWare ESX 5.1 communication problems

    Hello

We have 2 computer systems.  You running us VMWare ESX 5.1 and the other is running Ubuntu 14.04.  We have problems for IPSec to work between the two systems.  We cannot find any documentation or known issues with IPsec on VMWare ESX 5.1, so we're going to reach out to the community.

    Here's what we did:

    1. we configured Ubuntu and VMWare systems to use IPv6, we can ping each other using IPv6.

    2. we configure IPSec on an Ubuntu operating system by following the instructions below:

    https://help.Ubuntu.com/community/IPSecHowTo

    3. we have followed the instructions below to configure IPsec on VMWare.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1021769

    Here's the problem:

When 2 Ubuntu systems run IPsec, they are able to ping each other.  However, when allow us IPSec communications between VMWare and Ubuntu, the ping is suspended.

Here is the result of the configuration of command esxcli on VMWare:

    UBUNTU. IPv6.ADDRESS-> Ubuntu IPv6 address

VMWARE. IPv6.ADDRESS-> address IPv6 from VMWARE

Name Source address Destination address State SPI Mode Encryption Algorithm, integrity algorithm to life

GoToDPSP UBUNTU. IPv6.ADDRESS/64 0 VMWARE. IPv6.ADDRESS/64 0 in ipsec transport GoToDPSA

    Here's what we found:

After debugging the problem (using tcpdump), we found that the VMWare system sends the ESP packets, but never sends a package AH (required for IPSec authentication).  Even when the encryption protocol is null, the system of VMWare would always send ESP packets, but never once sent a package of AH.

Here is the resulting execution trace: Ubuntu - ping-> VMWare:

    ...

    IP6 UBUNTU. IPv6.ADDRESS > VMWARE. IPv6.ADDRESS: AH(spi = 0 x 00000256, seq = 0 x 16): ICMP6, an echo request, seq 1, length 64

    IP6 UBUNTU. IPv6.ADDRESS > VMWARE. IPv6.ADDRESS: AH(spi = 0 x 00000256, seq = 0 x 17): ICMP6, an echo request, seq 2, length 64

    IP6 VMWARE. IPv6.ADDRESS > UBUNTU. IPv6.ADDRESS: ESP(spi = 0 x 00000300, seq = 0 x 3), length 160

    Summary:

There seems to be a problem with IPSec in VMWare ESX 5.1 on IPv6.

We noticed that the downloads section of the site support provided patches for VMWare ESx 4.x and earlier, but lack of patches for VMWare ESx 5.x.

Are there known issues in this area or available patches to fix this problem?  Your kind suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply, but here the analysis of what is happening and why you are experiencing a problem.

The Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) to IPsec protocol will encrypt a payload of the packet and can

Optionally authenticate the packages as well. You do not include orders allowing you to set the

Security Association (SA) and political security (PS), but the output in your post indicates that you

you want to encrypt the payloads both authenticate packets in mode of transport between the hosts.

I don't know why the Ubuntu IPsec HowTo examples using protocols AH and ESP to encrypt and

authenticate the packets. In our view, it is best done in a single step with ESP, ESXi only

offer the option of AH with IPsec. Of course, this requires configuring the ESXi server and your

The host with a configuration of IPsec compatible Ubuntu (or any other operating system).

To illustrate, suppose the ESXi server has the address 2001:db8:1 and the host of Ubuntu has the

address 2001:db8:2. We will use cbc-3des for encryption of the useful and hmac-sha2-256 load for integrity

authentication mode of transport - just like in your message.

On the ESXi host, the commands to do this might look like this (of course, you need to generate your)

own keys and not re-use those I did).
