Duplicate music files in it directories

WIN8.1, Win Media Player 12

Too many duplicates in the directories of 3 or 4. Is there an easy way (sensitive?) to cut them down? Thank you

There are some online, I've only used a few tools in double myself and I always feel to forget those who.  But the last time I needed one, I asked some work colleagues and their suggestion was DoubleKiller, available here: http://1drv.ms/1pJ1utr

  • How to delete many files duplicate music in Windows Media Center

How to remove several duplicate files Windows Media Center music

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with Windows Media Center and I have a 2 TB external drive, I keep all my multimedia (music/movies) and I just realized that my entire music library has been duplicated several times that I now have 4-5 copies of each music file in my library on my external hard drive. It is not duplicate my movies (thank God!) Why is this happening? How can I get rid of the duplicates? and how can I prevent this from happening in the future?

You can also see duplicates in Windows Media Player library?

Because Media Center uses the same library as WMP, I suggest that you try to reset the media library of WMP. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, delete the folder Media Player. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the duplicates have been fixed.

  • Help me remove music files duplicate 4700 that grows like rot on a

Could not stop the download of multimedia information and have now 4700 music files that continue to grow

    Help, please.

To begin with, I'd stop any application that can be download all these files, Windows Explorer, itunes, Media Player, or other. Set to zero if you have to. Then I would start in Mode safe mode and do a few things.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type sfc in the search box, right-click to SFC. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Music files to iTunes on Windows PC iPhone6:

Transfer music files with 3rd party software... iPhone6 to iTunes on Windows PC:

The 3rd party software that I use has CLEARLY each song correctly ID'ed (it is very visible in the data fields of the software), but when transferred to-iTunes 'album name' and 'name of the artist' morph in to "unknown artist" "unknown album".

Can someone help me? This problem is horrible when you factor because I 18 815 songs on my iPhone & 50% of them are turning to 'unknown files during transfer.

Are the tracks in .wav format? These are not marked, so the standard method of dumping the files extracted in the automatically add to iTunes folder and let iTunes makes sense of them will not work. I wrote a few scripts that match data in iTunes with that on a device through which it might be possible to adapt. File size and length can be unique and readable unit. First of all, I would like to know if I guessed correctly, and if so, I'll see what I can do.

  • iTunes now pointing to music files not completely different!

    Hello

I just migrated my iTunes library on a NAS (sinology DS216-J).

It worked fine for a few days but now when I try to play a track he plays at all and when I go to view in the Finder it points to a photo file even if the music file is safely on the NAS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    JO

I knew from your subject without even opening the thread that has a NAS would be involved in this.  This type of post is usually a SIN in it somewhere.  iTunes and NAS do not work well together. There is not really a solution. For some it works for a while, or even a long time, for others this kind of thing happens. Without rhyme or reason. You are better to use the SIN as a backup drive and keep the iTunes library on a normal external hard drive.

  • After restoring my computer and iTunes download, iTunes can not find my my music files.  They have to be in the specific format or a folder iTunes for a recognized?

I had to restore my computer from the ground upward.  I save my music files and then reloaded after the system restore.  Then, I downloaded the latest version of iTunes.  But apparently iTunes can't find my music restored files.  I use a 10 newly installed Windows.  Y at - it a particular format to place the music files should be put in order for iTunes to see.  Or maybe a procedure that I did not follow properly.  Please notify.  Thank you.

If you have registered to the iTunes library database files, launch iTunes with the SHIFT key is pressed and choose this library. If this isn't the case, slide the song files into the application window open iTunes or add it automatically in the iTunes folder.

I must say that I am not convinced that by using the specified HTML it could succeed to set the file musical itself. He would probably play if the sender displayed to himself and he opened on his own computer, because the file is local (always assuming that its authorized e-mail client reading.)

Note that Thunderbird will not particularly play music embedded in messages, so if someone you send to use Thunderbird, they don't hear it.

It is one of the reasons why I use Thunderbird. Besides having always cut sound. It can be very annoying having noise suddenly pop out of your computer in the workplace.

  • iTunes can't locate some of my music files. Places seems to be the same however. Help?

My old motherboard itself killed a few weeks ago and I finally had time to take out the hard drive and transfer all my files over to my new laptop. The old and the new have been / are running the same version of Windows 10.

I met a strange problem with iTunes (version 12.4.3) locate all my music files now. When I transferred the old files to the new computer, I did it without changing anything. All iTunes folders and subfolders are together just as they were before and so are my music from Amazon and other music files (some from other music sites, more old torn records). Nothing has changed on the level where it was stored, or how files or albums have been appointed, only the computers themselves. I literally just plugged the old hard drive, dragged all the subfolders in my music in the main folder of music on the old pC to the new folder of music from PCs and went on my way. I'm looking for the files on the old HARD drive and comparing them to the new computer and all are exactly the same.

iTunes was no a problem of localization of music and videos in the folder iTunes at all, but it seems to refuse locate others, at least automatically. He finds some of the things Amazon, but not all, and it goes the same for ripped files. It seems to be forcing me to go through and individually, select it "!" marked songs/videos to find them manually on my computer. When I select the option automatically search and find other missing files, it tells me that iTunes could not locate the other missing files in 2000. This happens even with full albums that are located in the same folder. For example, I have a Florence + the Machine album, I bought from Amazon and all songs have been marked as being absent, so I found one of the songs manually in the album folder on my PC where are all the other songs on the album, but iTunes could not find the other songs on this album, even on its own. Normally this wouldn't be a problem and I'd go just to do one by one, but for 2000 files, it's a big enough problem. I'll be sitting here all night or add more just each individual file, even if many are together.

I'm not sure what is the problem, but I'd like an overview of how I could speed up the process from here. I pourrait delete all photos of does to and re-add-the, but that represents only ~ 500 files, the majority is the singular songs and because I can't seem to sort my files missing library I always face the boredom.

The problem of 'missing file' with exclamation points occurs if the file is no longer where iTunes is expected to find. Causes possible is that you or a third-party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parents, or the reader, records it feeds has been a change in the letter of the drive or you have moved a non-portable library to a different path (see make a split cell library for more details). It is also possible that iTunes has changed from waiting for the files in the presentation of pre-iTunes 9 post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice versa, and so looking for a bit in the wrong place.

Select a track with an exclamation point, use Ctrl-I to get information, then click on no when asked to try to locate the runway. Look under the file tab for the location that iTunes thinks that the file should be. Now look around your hard drive. I hope you can locate the track in question. If a part of your library has just been moved, renamed a folder or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse actions. If the difference between the two railroads is an additional music folder in a path, then it is a problem of layout. I can explain more if this is the case. If everything is where it is supposed to be trying to fix the security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

In some cases, iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info, or during playback of a track, but this time, click on search and browse the lost track. Then, it can offer try to automatically correct the other broken links. Although he said something like 'use the same location' I think he expects to find titles in the same provision, artist / album, they were previously, with a systematic change to the path.

If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed files, or the library was moved from OS X to Windows, then chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies it will be difficult to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is pregnant. In this case, as long as the missing files somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script for reconnecting to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works. It may need some adjustments if your media is in a non-standard layout.

If you want me to try to provide specific advice, please post back the following details:

    1. The location of the media under Edition folder > Preferences > advanced
    2. The location of a sample of missing follow indicated under Get Info > file > location that begins file://localhost/
    3. The real path to the file which you gave 2 details

  • Moving music files of 1 external hard drive to another

I have to move my music files from one external hard drive to another.   Many of these files are in the iTunes library, but do not reside in the iTunes/iTunes Music folder.  Is it possible to do so that they don't become 'traces of dead' in iTunes that I'll have to then 'find' whenever I want to access one of the songs?

There is no easy way to do it. It is one of the disadvantages of not let iTunes do its own management of files.

My suggestion would be to first let iTunes consolidate the active player library and only then move it to the new drive.

  • What happens to my music files and libraries as soon as apple Unassigns itunes?

What happens to my music files and libraries as soon as apple Unassigns itunes?

What makes you think that apple will stop downgrade iTunes? They make him billions.

Even if they did whatever it is already downloaded would continue to work and all etc CDs you imported will also continue to work.

The most likely scenario is that you have an older version of Windows (or Mac OS X), that cannot run the latest version of iTunes. If this is used, you'd still be able to run the old version already installed iTunes and still access your existing files. This applies to Windows XP for example.

  • Music files are on a secondary hard drive, because the primary is unable to manage the size of the file?

I have a PC where a hard disk managed programs and a secondary antibody which was for storing files. As I have almost 1 TB of music files, it's the simplest solution. Now the PC broke down and I'm moving to a new PC. Same configuration, but how to make iTunes recognize that the library is on the secondary? I put it in place so that the secondary drive is the home of the media, but I do not see the files that already exist in my library. Is there an easy way to connect them?

Never mind... after hours of searching, I thought about it.

  • I backed up my playlists M3U files before setting up a new computer, but even if music files are there, the playlists now show only a part of the music that was originally in the playlists. How can I get my playlists to work properly?

Sorry in advance for the description potentially lengthy below.

I have the latest version of iTunes on a Windows 10 computer with a processor i5, 8 GB of RAM and a lot of storage capacity.

I recently updated my computer to the above specifications and installed a new SSD as my main and kept my old C drive as a new drive E drive.

I backed up all my iTunes playlists as .m3u files export.

Now that I have set up my computer and installed the latest version of iTunes (I think that I initially ran 9? Or?), my playlists import OK, but the majority of the songs that were in each playlist are not displayed, even if they are there when I see everything in 'My music', and they are in my iTunes folder.

The selections are saved correctly I would say. When I opened the files as text files to check .m3u, good song lists are all in tact and the songs that do not appear in iTunes imported playlists are there in the .m3u.

I tried to re - import playlists, as well as the copy of my music files to my different readers (including the same drive as the .m3u links to and those that they do not). Nothing seems to work. I spent years of compiling playlists are now empty or almost empty, and I can't find a reasonable solution to fix it.

Must the .m3u files be .xml files? Is this a bug between versions of iTunes?

Not sure if it's relevant, but my iPod Touch still has playlists on it. I hesitate to plug them in and try to sync because I don't want them crushed.

Any help would be great, if you please.

I really want to rebuild my entire library of playlists of text files.

    Thank you

"Backup" individual playlists is not necessary and probably will not work in all cases.  All selections are stored in the iTunes (iTunes Library.itl) database and all approaches successful transfer, reproduce or modify your library depends on manipulation of this file correctly.

If you haven't changed anything on the E: drive, you have nothing more that hold down the SHIFT key at startup of iTunes, then when you see this message:

Select the iTunes (the file iTunes Library.itl ) on your E: drive database - if you use default iTunes, this will be in E:\Users\username\Music\iTunes.

  • Space clearing on Mac (music files)

I ask because I once tried to play music after you have removed and he had said that the file could not be found because it does not exist.  If I'm not mistaken, it is because it was an mp3 file and not a m4a file.  I wanted to just some clarification on this issue.  To summarize, I can't have supported iCloud stuff because it was not purchased.  Here's how it works well?

Thanks for the help if you can

    Anthony

Yes and no and Yes and no.

You should not use iCloud as storage for your only copy of the media. iCloud is a convenience to keep access to the House, but not an excuse for a good backup or archiving.

Apple has been unfortunately simplified terminology insofar as it's very confusing when you have only one name to several things like (computer applications) and applications on a mobile device that are not interchangeable - at least not yet. A "iCloud" is when you buy pieces of Apple and there is always a copy in iCloud. Well, I always say, but there is no guarantee which is why you need a copy at home.  Then there's iCloud subscription services include Apple looking at what you have on your computer and put a copy in your space on iCloud (should not be confused with another iCloud space which is your 5 GB backup space) reserved for the music.  You can subscribe to the Match or Apple music and have a copy available here (but I wouldn't trust them with my only copy anyway).

Of course the game services include no video which is a Devourer of real space on a computer.

To keep it simple, but several external drives (a backup) and move your iTunes library on the external drive.  In order to make light and portable computers, that they put in the SSDS that are expensive, so they put those too small to hold a large part of the media that they encourage you to buy from them. So you need to buy external drives you will need to then bored ears, defeating the entire purpose of the light and portable computers in the first place.  The iCloud service is partly in response to this, but read the small characters and Apple itself tells you to keep your own backup copy.

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/alt key (shift on Windows) keys to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.
