iTunes now pointing to music files not completely different!

Hello

I just migrated my iTunes library on a NAS (sinology DS216-J).

It worked fine for a few days but now when I try to play a track he plays at all and when I go to view in the Finder it points to a photo file even if the music file is safely on the NAS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

JO

I knew from your subject without even opening the thread that has a NAS would be involved in this.  This type of post is usually a SIN in it somewhere.  iTunes and NAS do not work well together. There is not really a solution. For some it works for a while, or even a long time, for others this kind of thing happens. Without rhyme or reason. You are better to use the SIN as a backup drive and keep the iTunes library on a normal external hard drive.

Update for Sierra and now my Apple music does not appear I have a subscription and I am unable to get my music on the cloud?

    Hey there Scotchman2926,

I understand that you are experiencing some problems with Apple music on Sierra. I have a few suggestions to help you solve this problem. First of all, if you are unable to access the iTunes Store as well as music from Apple, use the information in this article to help resolve this problem:

If you cannot connect to the iTunes Store - Apple Support

If this does not resolve the problem, you might try signing out of your Apple ID in iTunes and then connect again.

Thanks to be come to the communities of Apple Support and let us know how it goes.

    See you soon.

  • music files not recognized on the use of the TV

I have 1/2 my problem is resolved by changing my opinion 16 GB in MSC mode, it is now recognized as a device of my Samsung TV, but it does not recognize that there are files of music loaded does anyone have suggestions on the machine, I bought the view because it should be compatible (my Zune was not).  I'm not very tech savvy, but I downloaded WMP music in MP3 format (?).  I hope someone can help.  Otherwise so far so good!

you load your music files in the view when your device is in MSC mode?

files loaded into the PSG will not be recognized when you use the msc mode...

(i.e. the TV will try to read files from the view and custom view there files because they were loaded to MTP)

  • How to add music to iTunes without copying the music files

How to add music to iTunes without music copied to an iTunes Media folder or anywhere else?

I read the answer is to go into the advanced settings and uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Media when adding to library". Which is excellent and this option is not checked, but iTunes keep copy of the music into an iTunes Media folder...

Anything ripped CD, converted, downloaded from the iTunes Store or added via the automatically add to iTunes folder will eventually iTunes Media. If you add a folder of files stored outside the media folder and the option is disabled, then iTunes should not be generating copies in the media folder. Can you describe a specific example where you can see the new arrival before and after importation?

As a backup to one side and the migration of an iTunes library is much easier if all the content is organized inside the iTunes Media folder, but this is no reason not to try and find out why things are not behave correctly for you now.

  • iTunes for Windows 8 music files library.

I have Windows 8.1. I have the music on a CD on iTunes that I have converted to another format for transfer to another service. Problem is to load up on this other site, I need to have the individual securities listed my music folder. Only the "iTunes" folder, then a file "iTunes Library" arises which brings back me to iTunes, with individual tracks, but not in my files of music so I can click on the individual titles for the feature browse for download.

I clicked on music folder, then 'Preferences', as an e-how website suggests, but I can't find anything to fix. When I try to add to the library (there are already in iTunes when I open iTunes) iTunes a pop up said: 'You don't have administrative privileges for this function,' or something like.

    Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Hi Henry,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Unfortunately, we don't have much information on the extraction of music from iTunes.

I suggest you to use Windows Media Player to rip music and check if it records individual files.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/RIP-burn

You can also contact iTunes support and see if they can help you check out the music.

  • I tried to install a game on my computer, but every time that happens at a certain point it says "file not found".

I tried to install a game on my computer, but some time during the installation it says "Windows cannot find the file. "Make sure the file exsits and try again. I checked to see if it was compatilbe with my operating system and it has been. What should I do? The game is Lego Star Wars 2 the original trilogy. My computer is Windows Xp.

    Hi Jesusfreakmir123,

-How you try to install the game? It is with the downloaded file or installation disc?

If you try to install the game with the installation disc, copy the contents of the disc to the hard drive and then run the installation and check if the game is installed successfully.

Keep me updated on the status of the issue.
  • Can I re - rip music files under a different type? WMA to mp3.

Stupidly, I ripped my CD of music for Windows Media Player. The default setting is for wma files. Now I want to download my music on the Amazon Cloud, and he does not accept wma files. I do not accept MP3 files. Anyway I can fix this error in novice?

You can change the settings in Windows Media Player to rip to mp3, but it would be much faster and easier to convert wma to mp3 files. Here is a free Converter:

    http://download.CNET.com/free-WMA-to-MP3-Converter/3000-2140_4-10494267.html

I am surprised Amazon won't accept (or convert) wma files there are a lot of people in the same situations that you, myself included.

  • I backed up my playlists M3U files before setting up a new computer, but even if music files are there, the playlists now show only a part of the music that was originally in the playlists. How can I get my playlists to work properly?

Sorry in advance for the description potentially lengthy below.

I have the latest version of iTunes on a Windows 10 computer with a processor i5, 8 GB of RAM and a lot of storage capacity.

I recently updated my computer to the above specifications and installed a new SSD as my main and kept my old C drive as a new drive E drive.

I backed up all my iTunes playlists as .m3u files export.

Now that I have set up my computer and installed the latest version of iTunes (I think that I initially ran 9? Or?), my playlists import OK, but the majority of the songs that were in each playlist are not displayed, even if they are there when I see everything in 'My music', and they are in my iTunes folder.

The selections are saved correctly I would say. When I opened the files as text files to check .m3u, good song lists are all in tact and the songs that do not appear in iTunes imported playlists are there in the .m3u.

I tried to re - import playlists, as well as the copy of my music files to my different readers (including the same drive as the .m3u links to and those that they do not). Nothing seems to work. I spent years of compiling playlists are now empty or almost empty, and I can't find a reasonable solution to fix it.

Must the .m3u files be .xml files? Is this a bug between versions of iTunes?

Not sure if it's relevant, but my iPod Touch still has playlists on it. I hesitate to plug them in and try to sync because I don't want them crushed.

Any help would be great, if you please.

I really want to rebuild my entire library of playlists of text files.

    Thank you

"Backup" individual playlists is not necessary and probably will not work in all cases.  All selections are stored in the iTunes (iTunes Library.itl) database and all approaches successful transfer, reproduce or modify your library depends on manipulation of this file correctly.

If you haven't changed anything on the E: drive, you have nothing more that hold down the SHIFT key at startup of iTunes, then when you see this message:

Select the iTunes (the file iTunes Library.itl ) on your E: drive database - if you use default iTunes, this will be in E:\Users\username\Music\iTunes.

  • ITunes is will work with the CDs/files not ripped/uploaded via iTunes?

Does anyone know if iTunes game work with CD/files not ripped/uploaded via iTunes?

My main purpose for the purchase of the service would be to get versions without loss of quality to everything that I ripped as MP3 back in the day, rather than having to re - rip everything.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Yes.

    http://www.Apple.com/iTunes/iTunes-match/

If iTunes is not the music, it will upload your file. The only reason why it wouldn't, that is if the file is damaged. iTunes will tell you if it is unable to download a specific file.

When you sign up for iTunes game, you can use THIS article to learn more about icons that can see for downloading songs.

  • Help! Trying to get iTune music files off Windows Live Photo Gallery, I swear that I never put there. Any ideas?

I don't remember adding iTunes for Windows Live Photo Gallery, but they're stuck there and will not allow me to remove them... and on iTunes... these music files move no matter how hard I try!

You must move your iTunes library to a non-default location
libraries folder structure so that they will not automatically be indexed.

  • Music files lost on PC, but still on the phone

Hi, for some reason any selection of music files (not all) went from my PC when even records are still show here. However, the files are still on my Z3 Xperia SD card and play very well, but I can't transfer them here back to my PC... it's weird! I tried moving them via PC Companion and Media Go, but no luck.

Is there any other way of pulling the files on my PC?

    Tony

You mean you don't see all of the files when you open the folder in the phone which contains the files in Windows Explorer?

If Yes, go to settings-> Apps-> all-> storage media-> clear data-> OK and then reboot the phone (this will not delete your files). The phone will then rescan all your media (this can take some time if you have a lot of media files). Then check the PC again. You should be able to copy them by drag and drop in Explorer.

  • music files in .aiff format with encoded path names, but are not displayed in Windows Media Player or iTunes.

I have several CDs with music files engraved on them, but when I play one any of them in WMP or iTunes, music plays, but each track does not have a name.  They appear as the track track 01, 02, etc.. The music files are in .aiff format. Now, here's the clincher, the same CD will play in my car stereo and display the name of the track.

Are you sure that they are in the format .aiff? It looks more like an actual audio CD for me (in this case, the music files will have a .cda extension when displayed in Windows Explorer).

If it's an audio CD, then it probably has info CD-text engraved on it. You can install the plugin WMPCDText allowing WMP read this info. Unfortunately, there doesn't exist a plugin similar to iTunes.

  • Installed iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 s and now the application iTunes music does not work?

I have installed iOS 10 onto my iPhone 6 s and now in the music App my itunes not displayed to the top.  Why?

    Hi jimkk,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It seems that you do not see your music on your iPhone 6 s after the upgrade to iOS 10. I'll be happy to help you recover your music on your phone.

Connect to the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC or Apple TV - Make sure that you are connected to iTunes and the App Store on your iPhone with the same ID you use in iTunes on your computer.

Synchronize your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer via a USB - if you do not use the musical library of iCloud but syncing your music via iTunes, re - sync the music you want on your phone.

Turn on iCloud library - if you subscribe to Apple music or iTunes game, you turn on iCloud music and then download the songs you want available when you are offline in order to play.

    Good listening!
