Duplicateing many layers...

I have been away fom PS for a while. I used to know how to combine multiple layers into a new layer. But it has been awhile.

Any suggestions?

As I mentioned, if you want to make a flattened copy of layers all now individually hide them all other layers and press command-alt-shift-E or select them and convert to an object dynamic (layers exist in Society and can be changed there).

  • Slow with many layers of Photoshop

    Hello!

    I do experience notable in Photoshop slowdowns when working with large files (more than 4000 x 4000 pixels) with many layers.
    I tried different things, like tinkering with performance options in Photoshop, brush settings and global PC settings.
    Nothing seems to help.

    When you start with a new file (say 4000 x 4000 pixels), everything seems fine. As I work, I create layers more. When the number of layer approaches 80 ~ 100 I start noticing significant slowdowns. The Brush tool becomes lag (delay adds boring), zooming and paning is smoother and everything becomes overall slower.

    When checking in the Manager of tasks, either the graphics card or RAM or processor is fully utilized. Total CPU usage is usually only 20 ~ 25%, 50% of RAM but Photoshop is lagging as hell.

    I think I have a quite decent PC. (at least for this type of workload..)
    My PC current specifications are:

    CPU: i7 6700 k @ 4, 0GHz
    RAM: DDR4, 16GB, 3000 Mhz
    GPU: GTX 980 Ti
    2xSSD RAID-0 for the main system partition (Photoshop "scratch disks" can also be programmed to do this).
    Windows 10

    So, what could be the problem? Any ideas I could try?
    Or should I rethink my working habits of several layers?

    Update!
    After more inexperienced, seems to have finally found the culprit that is causing slowdowns.
    Layer blending Options. Especially those that generate their own semi-transparent area.

    I can reproduce this in the layer file 10:
    (1) create a new file with the dimensions of the 6000 x 6000 pixels (or something bigger) with no background
    (2) draw something
    (3) add option 'outer glow' merger with significant RADIUS
    (4) add a few more layers, repeat steps 2 and 3
    (5) create new layer below all other layers and try to get something in the area where overlap the effects of "outer glow".

    So the main takeaway:
    Be careful adding mixture of options to layers and rasterization them where possible.

  • How many layers is supported?

    How many layers I can have in PS touch?

    A maximum of 16 layers is allowed in Photoshop Touch.

  • How many layers levels can I have?

    I'm working on an image and I want to make changes to only certain parts. For example, I already have an adjustment of levels on a levels layer. Now, I want to make an adjustment of levels on another part after using the quick selection tool and I clicked on new adjustment layer and choose levels. I clicked on the layer > reorganize (I use a Mac) bring layer forward, I'm working on it. I noticed that the big picture, I'm working on that changed according to the order of the levels layer or on any other layer.  But that's okay, because when I send this layer 2 levels after working on it, my image looks the way I want it. I'm doing this right?

    Can I have several levels (or other) of the layers I want? I have a choice either choose create new levels adjustment layer or duplicate the background layer and then will improve > light adjust and levels here? Also, if I want to use the Spot Healing Brush or Clone Stamp tool, can I create a layer for this by duplicating the background layer, or just to make these changes on the image? I want to use layers because the changes are reversible, and if I don't like a change later, I can get rid of him. Last point, once I tried to use the clone tool, but the changes did not. I think I was working in a levels layer. Should I try to use the Clone Stamp tool on a layer of levels or create another layer, if possible, for cloning?

    You make more work for yourself as necessary.  Always perform your choice of area first, then when you create a levels adjustment layer, the layer will be hidden automatically to your selection and you don't have to worry about the order of the layers:

    I do not know the limit of layers, you can have, but it's a lot.  If you encounter the limit, you're doing something not particularly good.

    You are absolutely right on using layers because of its reversibility and power refine the effect using them, so it is usually better to not use to strengthen... Adjust lighting... Levels on the image unless it will be used for a quickie.

    It is usually a good idea to start your editing by making a copy of the background layer and do the cloning or spot on this layer copy of healing.  Apply the same reasons: you can remove the layer of the copy if you get into trouble and still have the original background layer in a first time again.

    The Clone tool works on a layer of the image.  Make sure that the part of the image on the layer is active - it will have a box around it, if it is.

  • First won't matter only first 99 layers of PSD file?

    I'm trying to import a PSD file into PRPRO but only the first 99 layers (all images) will be important. Is there a limit to how many layers, that you can import into a PSD PRPRO?

    My job was about right for duplicated the PSD file, rename, delete the first 99 layers and import the rest of the images. He worked and was pretty simple to do, but adds additional steps to the process.

    And since I'm on the subject of the importation, images are not importing in PRPRO in numerical order in the thumbnail view. The display list, Yes; thumbnail view, no. The layers are in order of numbering in PS. I'll chuncks of layers in numerical order, but not all. The first vignette will be, for example, number 25-65, but then will go through the numbers 1-24; then 85-99; 66-84, etc. I was wondering if anyone might know why it does. Is it possible to thumbnails list digitally after the fact without having to put highlight, drag, and drop to achieve this for later use?

    Thank you

    Michael

    Premiere Pro is limited to 99 tracks.

  • May I know is there a limit on the creation of new layers of folders? It causes errors in backup?

    Currently I am facing a problem on the back ups. When I run a full backup for all my files and folders in the backup utility, the result would be showed:

    "WARNING: Portions of"\PublicFolder\R&D Design Resources\02. " Guides\01. Mechanical\Low MH access\Injection Molding\Problem in Plating.htm Molding\Skip Injection"cannot be read.  The saved data is damaged or incomplete.
    This file will not restore correctly. "

    It happens all the time when I checked in the report generated when the backup is complete. And is not only one, but more than 50 errors have occurred in different places of the files and folders.  This has to do with the layers of the files and folders that were created was too large/too deep?  Is there a guideline on how many layers of folder can be created?
    I would like to get useful information.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards
    Melissa.

  • Trim layers

    I'm cutting some layers, but nothing does nothing.  I want clips to start at, say, 20f, then finish in 100f.  [and] work, but spend the entire clip.  In addition to drag the rear end (many layers are well beyond the time of the composition), how to cut the layer?

    CTRL and ALT + [or] does nothing.

    Thank you!

    Thank you all, it turns out it's my keyboard was not working (so weird, never had a selective keyboard not working)

  • Digital art, files of large multi layers and increasing problems with Photoshop - advice please!

    Hi all

    I am a digital artist, who does about 90% of his work in Photoshop. However the gel, crash at launch and at the exit of RAM reviews (even on opening 1 small file) have become more frequent until this week I can't work at all.

    Records of work because they are implemented today:

    (1) 1928.11 GB (external)

    (2) GB 2560.76 (external)

    (3) F 286.17

    (4) 40.49 GB (boot)

    Although a lot of arrangement of these discs have all failed.

    It is not uncommon for me to work on the art that has 40 + layers in a document of 300 dpi (the 750MO PSD file size) 18 x 18 inches. (Even this does not end where JPG size for some of the clothing I hope to do my job). Again, for a year or two I did not seem to have any real problem with the files of this size. Originally, I was with WIN 8.1/Photoshop CS6. But the crash. Gel and off RAM review has progressed to the point that I had to stop and restart everything several times per hour often lose work - always lose time and focus.

    I have a specific computer for design only, so I have other things running while I'm working. My stuff of protection antivirus is up-to-date.

    3 weeks ago, I upgraded to Windows 10 and went ahead (despite having the full Creative Suite CS6 on expensive Disk) and a subscription that I can not afford for Photoshop CC. I want to get some relief from frequent problems. I don't have. The problems have got only worse/more frequent. I can only do one or two little thing in any given job. So, I have to stop or lose my job. This morning, I can not open a 47 MB file and a picture of 24 MB to bring it.

    As a bonus, since the "revaluation" of CC Adobe married now often hold for 10 to 30 seconds when scrolling. This has never been a problem in the past.

    I purge. I rearrange "scratch disks". I keep a historic minimum (4) States... All the things recommended in all of these items online on this seemingly common problem with Photoshop. I want it to work. I am not a technophile and feel like I have to return to college for a degree computer SCIENCE or art my work/income - in total. I am also very aware, it can just some obvious problem my artsy, non-tech brain does not see, so hopefully someone here can help you.

    Example: showing why so many layers are needed. Often much needed individual 'twisted' once again towards the end of the design work, so cant more be combined while I add them in.

    In clear simple any help would be greatly appreciated - single to the top of the preferences for the way I work in...

    Thanks, Nola Lee KelseyNaturalist-web nola kelsey.jpg

    Windows 10 - 32 bits, and that is the problem.

    A 32-bit operating system can use 3.76 GB of ram no matter how much you have, simple math - 2 ^ 32 = 4,294,967,296 bytes 4294967296 / (1 024 x 1 024) = 4 096 MB = 4 GB

    Solution to your problem - reinstall 10 64-bit Windows.

  • went from 2015 PS CS3. so many things have changed I hate the new version.

    I'm so frustrated. Has been forced to change computers and from the 2015 PS CS3. I'm on a deadline and so many things have changed I hate the new version. Not an improvement, that I can see. I do a greeting card with many layers and whenever I open the file it is a multicolor search mess - Neon colors acid trip, blocks, especially the file I used last step a new I starts. Go crazy! Can anyone help! Thank you!

    Uncheck the box "Use GPU" in preferences > performance as a convenience cheque. Restart PS.

  • I think that I broke it... blank layers?

    I have a file of project super sillious. Average of many layers, probably more than 1,000, and when I went an addition as 1001, all the layers disappeared... well the area cropped for each did. I have created several compositions, to work around the problem, but is there a setting/preference I met, broke, killed, corrupted for why this happens?

    It's not exactly "run out of diapers. The layers are still there (that is, their images should appear in the Composition Panel). The bug is that the timeline cannot make representations of the layers a lot in mode list. The limit is of ~ 30 000 pixels of vertical height. given that each layer a little more than 20 pixels vertically in the timeline panel, this equals somewhere between 1,000 and 2 000 layers to trigger the problem.

    To fix this bug requires rewrite how we draw list views. This isn't the highest priority now because typical compositions is not only a lot of layers and those who tend to use the precomposing to manage.

    If this is done in your path, you can influence the priority to fix this bug by presenting a report here:

  • merging layers

    This may sound can resemble a question very amateur, but I am inexperienced with this program, Adobe after effects CC. Is it possible to merge all my layers into a single layer?

    I want to complete this action because I have too many layers in my composition and to organize all the layers I'm already done with, all the answers are appreciated.

    Thank you.

    First select all your layers... I'm on a Mac, so I hold the SHIFT key, and then left click on my mouse to select the layers that I brought to compose before. They are all highlighted (looking grayish) right-click on your mouse on the selected layers and a tab will pop up, scroll and click on pre dial. You can change the name of the composition before of all your layers in the tab at the top. And then click ok. When you are finished, you can always double click on the new computer to see what's inside

  • How to pass the screen several layers at once? (as a "whipe" - effect)

    I'm quite new to Adobe After Effects and I have the following chalange:

    -J' have many layers (imported AI)

    -I want all these layers to move off screen (as if they fly on the screen)

    How can I do that easily? To do this by hand (to select all the layers and individually defining their position with time markers) is a lot of work)

    Thank you!

    Edit: I want to keep their relative positions

    Use a Null object, and all your layers to her parents. OR precomp all these layers in another publication. I'm on an iPad if not I will add Help links. But look for Null and precomp or nesting. It will be useful.

  • Script to change the selected layer to one of the drop-down list in the layers palette colors

    Hello!

    I was wondering if anyone knows of a script that would allow me to change the selected layers (single or multiple selection) in 'Light Blue' or all the colors in the menu drop-down? (see attached screenshot)

    I found the following but it changes all layers and is the RGB color.

    -----

    say application "Adobe Illustrator"

    set current_Layer in current document

    view the dialog box "in the current document there is" & layersCounter & "layers." & "Recolor label layers?"

    Repeat until (layersCounter = 0)

    set color of layer layersCounter in the current document to {Light Blue}

    set layersCounter to layersCounter - 1

    as far as I can tell this is only possible with a few other modifications... Since 'selected' is not a property of "layers" javascript cannot determine if you see a highlighted layer in the layers panel.

    you could do one of 2 ways. Depending on how many layers you want to change the color, you can either make those visible or hidden (for example, if you want to change to 80% of the layers of a specific color, hide others 20%). and then simply add a clause inside the loop if for.

    var doc = app.activeDocument;

    var layers = doc.layers;

    Blue of var = new RGBColor();

    Blue.Red = 79;

    Blue.Green = 128;

    Blue.Blue = 255;

    for (i = 0; i<>

    If (layers [i] .visible == true) {}

    var = aLay layers [i];

    aLay.color = blue;

    }

    }
