  I have a proposed solution, but I put t know if it will help you must try it simply;

  Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list CD/DVD
  Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  Then restart the laptop and allows windows to reinstall the CD/DVD drive again.

  Hello, I bought last December 2010 a tower HP which includes 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB of memory, she understood 2.0 Cyberlink DVD and CD Burner Deluxe which was already part of my package of included software.   I am trying to create a DVD with DVD Studio Pro. My internal DVD drive no longer works. I have an external DVD burner - slim portable DVD writer.   I found a thread that has addressed this issue, but does not help me to solve my problem. Meg the dog was told this to her in question written by Scott Stark. I tried his solution of generation and format, but after pressing the burn a window appears saying "insert disc please insert acceptable DVD recordable media."  I tried to use another blank DVD, it did not help.
