Dynamic text without scrollbars question box

Hi all

I have an application that has a dynamic text box that pulls in the XML content and I would like to have the text box to grow, instead of using a scroll bar and I was wondering if someone did or can point me in the right direction? I have not quite some research and only find examples on how to do this in AS3 and I use AS2 and CS3.

Thanks in advance!

If you use AS2, then if you manually stretch the width of the textfield object to what you want it to be, you can use the following to be automatically resized itself unwelcome to adapt to any text assign you, tfield corresponding to any instance name assign you to the object textfield in the code example...

tfield.autoSize = 'left ';

TField.Text = "all your text from xml file is";

  • Display number in the area of dynamic text without rounding

    Hello

    I use AS3 and try to place the extracted value of an OC in 2 dynamic text boxes. I use a couple of numbers of test (2.25 and 1.25). Strangely when I run the following script, I have trouble getting my test numbers in areas of 2 text (T1, T2). (Before the numbers stopped show altogether, they have been rounded up and that he seemed to be 10 x greater than they actually are, without my something like that.) Note: The script also displays the text (T3, T4, T5, and T6) boxes with messages like "above average" based on the scores don't know if these screens are correct, since I can't show 2 numbers inspired by the poster.

    Here's the code. I have to do something wrong:

    Any help appreciated.

    Try just the text assignment clear ole to the textfields.

    T1. Text = "ole plain text."

    If you're not yet see anything, my inclination is first ask you to check if the font for the textfield color could match the background.  If this isn't the case, then are hide you, rotation, or animate these textfields - in which case you should join the police for them.

  • Dynamic text with a button box

    I can't reference a dynamic text box in a button class.

    Here is my explanation:

    var rollButton:SimpleButton = new btnRoll;

    The name of the instance of the field text is: rollTxt

    Here is my code: rollButton.rollTxt.text = "1 Roll;

    Here is the error:

    1119: access of property may be undefined rollTxt through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.

    The button itself works very well, and this way to access text works on all my other text fields in the program. Since it is a button I have to referece a frame or something?

    You hit it right with your last question.  Impossible to place a dynamic textfield or movieclip instance or whatever it is inside a simplebutton control and order them by name.  You may be able to create your own version/class that extends from SimpleButton to include a textfield.  Otherwise, you can create a MovieClip and use it instead of a control SimpleButton and do what you intend.

  • Dynamic resize TextArea without scrollbars

    There is an example of a text box dynamic resizing without scrollbars on the link below, but it does not work with htmlText, only normal text.

    Any suggestions on what are the changes to the code to make it work with htmlText?

    It's link with the example:

    Maybe this:

  • Dynamic text can use or opacity?

    I did a search on this forum for "text opacity Dynamics" and came up with nothing, so I apologize if this has been covered before.

    I have boxes of dynamic text with scrollbars on a page. I did a video for each of them and I'm fading from 0 to 100 of opacity in the timeline panel. When I scrub the timeline, it works. However, when I post, the text doesn't dissipate. The scroll bars didn't and the fact the static text, but none of the text boxes that are defined in Dynamics.

    I thought about the discoloration of a white rectangle (the background is white), from 100 to 0 on top the dynamic text, but I have some animation going on in the background that would be covered as well.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I thank very you much for your time.

    OK, I thought about it.

    You must select the dynamic text, click on the Embed button, and then click Auto Fill, then click OK.

    Incorporation into the dynamic text allows him to fade in and out.

    Thanks, Scot! No problem, in Scotland.

  • load dynamic text field text, font is not displayed correctly

    I have a flash movie 8, in which there is a dynamic text field, load data from the server. Data loading beautifully and appears in a text field as html.

    This text as html field uses a style sheet and that works fine for everything except the font. With the help of Flash, I've specified a font of DIN-Medium for the dynamic text on my stage box and still the text that appears when I publish to my Web host seems to be Times New Roman. WTF?

    My style sheet specifies no any font family.

    Can anyone tell me how I could get the dynamic text box to display the text using the font DIN? Do I need to export the police in the library of my animation flash or something?

    I have it working now. The question was how I chose to incorporate fonts. I changed some incorporate settings and it seems to work now.

  • Dynamic text to a text file path

    Hello!

    Can someone help me because I can't understand it... I have a text file in the same directory as the flash and a dynamic text with the name box: news, var: News. I need to load in the file text news.txt. The dynamic area is within other MCs when I do this command on root-stock layer I get this inside the text box:

    _level0.instance10.instance12.scrolledMC.news

    The command I use is simple, but I don't know how to put the correct path in it: loadVariablesNum ("news.txt", 0);

    remove the variable you assigned to this textfield.  causing a problem.

  • Targeting the area of dynamic text inside the moviecip to the variable

    Hello

    How we don't target a dynamic text box to change the color of the border within a clip? Example below is not working

    theName = ("answerPrint" + arryCount);
    boxName = ("box" (arryCount + 1));

    _root.pagePrintPartA [theName] [boxName]. Border = true;
    _root.pagePrintPartA [theName] [boxName]. BorderColor = 0x00cc66;

    Thanks for the backup, but I should of stated what was that that:

    theName = ("answerPrint" + arryCount) ;// Variable name within the area of dynamic text inside MovieClip
    boxName = ("box" + (arryCount + 1)) ;// Instance name of real dynamic text box inside MovieClip
    _root.pagePrintPartA [theName] [boxName]. Border = true;
    _root.pagePrintPartA [theName] [boxName]. BorderColor = 0xFF0000;

    In certifying this script you showed me where I went wron (do not see the forest for the trees). The last two lines should be:

    _root.pagePrintPartA [boxName]. Border = true;
    _root.pagePrintPartA [boxName]. BorderColor = 0xFF0000;

    I was aiming for back. Thank you very much DazFaz.

  • Simple question: loading files .txt in dynamic text boxes

    Now, I can load the external .txt file into the box without problem. But when the .txt file contains HTML tags, even when I put the dynamic text box to "Make text as HTML", they display correctly.

    Any ideas?

    Hello, the problem is the display of html content?
    Maybe you load the text incorectley.

    If you want to load plain text then use:
    my_box. Text = "Adama";

    If you want to load the html text, you must set the variable called "htmlText" instead of "text" and set html = true before loading html content:

    my_box.html = true;
    my_box.htmlText = "Adama";

  • Problems with the formatting of the dynamic text box

    I'm under the questions with the help of HTML formatting for a dynamic text field. I know these are weird and I can't understand how to get the formatting right.

    I have on my scene a dynamic text called «content_txt' inside a movie clip instance «content_mc» box When he enters the frame, I just broke down the "content_mc" of the alpha of 0 to 100 with a scenario animation. So that this works, I have to incorporate the police in my text field 'content_txt '. However, the only way I get get the HTML formatting to work is if I do not embed fonts.

    The dynamic text field is configured to render as HTML. In my layer actions, I put the text:

    this.content_mc.content_txt.htmlText = "<b>Hello world,</b> it is me again."

    In summary:

    1. If I do not embed fonts, the alpha fade does not work but HTML formatting doesn't.

    2. If I incorporate police, the alpha fade works but HTML formatting does not work.

    How to solve this? It's driving me crazy!

    then you're not g-d instructions.

    You should have two textfields.  the one on the boards that you started with and that incorporates your normal font (not bold).  and a slide that takes the same family of fonts with license "BOLD".  Repeat the test.

  • Dynamic text with custom scrollbar

    Hello

    I am adopting oriented programming OBJECT Scrollbar 2 of Lee Bremelow to load external text. So far without success. This tutorial uses three classes. There is in the FLA scrollbox movieclip, within which are the dynamic text field (txtField) and the custom scroll bar (consisting of two elements: the thumb and track).
    If I copy some text in the text field, everything works. If the load external text in the text field, text is loaded but it doesn't scroll.
    Here are the codes of all the classes:

    Ok. Solved. Use this code to load the text in one place:

  • How can I load a. In a dynamic text box TXT file?

    I'm sure that many people know how to load a .txt file in a dynamic text box. But I did not. I want to be able to reference a txt from the server file in the text box. So that when I change the text file it changes in the flash animation without even modifying the file flash itself. Thank you.

    If you want to follow this tutorial, you should go with the LoadVars class. not loadVariablesNum()

  • Adobe animate CC HTML5 - setting length max on a dynamic text box

    Hi guys,.

    I hope someone can help...

    I'm trying to set a maximum length of a dynamic text to only 10 characters box.

    These work perfectly by the way:

    Screen.tab01.txt.text = labelSomeText;

    Screen.tab01.txt.color = "#424242";

    However I can't get this to work:

    Screen.tab01.txt.MaxLength = "10";

    Can someone please advice what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you man!

    You do not specify if you speak a native textfield object, or an element of HTML text overlay.

    For HTML text input elements, the property to set is "maxlength", all lowercase.

    For native textfield objects, there is no max length, width property maximum of only. You will need to manually apply any character limit in the code that defines the contents of the textfield object.

  • How could I add together the numerical values in the dynamic text boxes?

    I do an application and I currently have sections such as travel, rent, etc., where you can press one of two buttons to increase or decrease the total number (fresh) for this article. All totals are displayed in the dynamic text boxes - here is an example of the code for a section-

  • Can I put Chinese and English characters in the same dynamic text box?

    I translate a game in several languages, which is Chinese. I noticed that in an area of dynamic text where English characters are included, they are not displayed when the .swf is exported. The police is embedded in the document with the selected characters. It seems that any character language is initially displayed in the text box, the other language is impossible. For example, if there are Chinese characters first, then English, the English will not display and vice versa. No matter what work around on this? I use Flash CS5 and Actionscript 2.0. Thank you!

    Use two different textfields, one above the other.  assign to the visible property of the textfield useless were false.
