Dynamic XFA forms and Acrobat Professional

Hello

I have the following statement of our software provider and want to check if it is correct: «you can't create/modify dynamic XFA forms with Adobe Acrobat.» Creation of dynamic XFA forms requires Adobe LiveCycle Forms Designer supplied with Acrobat 7, 8, 9 and X Professional; and is not included in Acrobat Professional XI. You can fill out the forms using Acrobat Professional but they are static forms. »

Is this correct? Between the change in the way that LiveCycle designer has been distributed (provided with Acrobat Pro then separately) and Acrobat Pro vs. Adobe FormsCentral, it is not easy to see what is necessary to do now with Acrobat Pro XI.

Thank you!

R.

Yes, this description is correct. It is also important to understand that there is no connection between the LCD and FormsCentral. Two things are very different.

CF is a service based on the web for the design of forms, their distribution and then collects the results. Since it is more what remains of him is his desktop application that can be used to create a (simple) PDF forms from scratch. The resulting file is a standard PDF Acrobat format, not a form of LCD.

  • Forms and acrobat 9 Standard

    Hi all

Calling for first time, long time listener.

I have a small problem with forms in Acrobat.

    I. have created a PDF of an old Word file, with a few tables where you can fill in your name.

    2. in Acrobat, I open the newly created PDF file, and click the FORMS button-> add or modify forms. All pop up, and I can start to change the names of the boxes and other whatnot. So far so good.

    3. then I save it to my desktop. Still a fine.

    4. I send e-mail to my collogue, where it opens it and fill the form. And here's the best, he or she cannot save it. They can print only. They use the drive and I have Standard.  Its something to do with extended permissions. But as far as I know, I have not been quantified it. They have all the necessary permissions.

I'm doing something wrong? Or maybe my discussions? Of course, the problem would be solved if they all used Standard or even only a PDF printer any.

  • How can I work with livecycle forms in acrobat DC

I have forms of clincal data for a few years and have gradually understood how to distribute forms and collect data.  To do this, I have been using Acrobat 9 or 10 Pro and works with Live Cycle.  Today, I upgraded to Acrobat Pro DC, and I learned that my program Live Cycle has disappeared.  I read in another forum post that Livecycle and Acrobat pro have be "unbundled".  I tried to take my form and edit it in Acrobat Pro DC and got an error message that says that I can't change the shape in DC.  So, I tried to understand what is the replacement program.

    So:

A: can LiveCycle and Acrobat Pro DC co exist

B: is Live Cycle always the right program for the manufacturing and workign with these forms

C: is there a way to take the previous forms, I was working with Live cycle and convert them into forms that can be changed in Acrobat Pro ms?

If the form is a dynamic XFA form with autoexpanding fields, tables or new pages, you will not be able to convert an AcroForm, which is the type of native form of Acrobat.

If they are static XFA forms, you can create a functional quasi-doublon in Acrobat. If you use FormCalc, you must reprogram in JavaScript, and any JavaScript must be reprogrammed to essentially different Acrobat style. If you still have access to Acrobat 9, you can enjoy a bug allowing you to convert the XFA an Acroform, but he will lose all programming and certain properties from the field. I not really recommend this, but it is an option if you're desperate.

It may be easier to just get the latest version of LiveCycle Designer.

  • No support of the XFA form?

    Hello

Recently, I needed to host a few PDF documents made by the tax administration through EchoSign. They were in XFA format and imported. However, I couldn't text EchoSign labels to work (XFA forms do not support field names that have semicolons). In addition, the rendering of form boxes was distant: http://i.imgur.com/Im8vB49.png. (It seems perfectly fine in 3 different readers PDF, but not the EchoSign one.)

The problem seems to be that EchoSign does not support XFA forms. Surely, this must be wrong, I thought at the time. The standard for XFA forms dates back to 2007, and Adobe has been pushing for a while. Adobe obviously holds both LiveCycle Designer and EchoSign, so they must be able to work together.

Five hours and five programs Adobe later, I had no solution. I googled for a competitor to PDF Editor and was able to convert XFA forms in AcroForm files PDF compatible with less than 10 minutes and add text tags. I lost a lot of time purely to learn that Adobe (Acrobat, LiveCycle Designer) products may work with other Adobe (EchoSign) products.

As an outsider to these questions, it seems really, really bad. I mean it's 2014, getting close to 2015 and that standard is so old that even the IRS uses these forms, but Adobe EchoSign can even support one of their own native Adobe formats? It's completely confusing.

Maybe this isn't the right place for this kind of feedback; I do not know. I just did not see any active discussion on this via Google from 2011.

EchoSign supports static XFA forms, but dynamic XFA forms will not be processed at all except if flattened first. Normal PDF forms can be processed by Echosign and most of Acroform fields will be converted to EchoSign form fields, especially if using Acrobat 11, convert to characteristic EchoSign.

EchoSign is also not a PDF reader, when you get to the stage of signature that you see a raster of high quality of the downloaded file with fields EchoSign superimposed on top.

For static XFA, you cannot use the new text ISAM format label this syntax included ':'. You can use the old style of place text tag to name your fields, although the old style does not allow the recent additions of functionality. I have attached an old marking guide.

A better way to use text tags in the LC Designer is to use text boxes and use current text with the {{}} tags and colon instead.

Or if you lucky to have access to a full LC Server, you can create a workflow that ends by flattening a XFA dynamic/XDP and send the PDF filled but flattened the Echosign API to get a final signature.

Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat Professional. And I would like to create web forms via Adobe for my site. What I have? or is it included in my Acrobat Professional software?

When you say that web forms, do you mean HTML forms or PDF forms? For web forms, Adobe has a number of products, you can use, including FormsCentral and Dreamweaver. For PDF forms, you can create them with Acrobat.

If you want to create HTML forms with FormsCentral, which calls the web forms, you will need a subscription for the FormsCentral service. The FormsCentral application that comes with 11 Acrobat is used to create local PDF forms, but if you want to create web forms with him you will need a subscription. Note that there is a free subscription, but it is quite limited.

How can I get rid of him. I have a valid license. What is the cost and benefits, the upgrade to Acrobat 9 professional to the latest version (I think it's X)

No, X is not the last. In fact, X, as 9 is now unsupported. After X XI, after that XI was DC. DC is the current version. No upgrade price from 9 more, unfortunately. You can subscribe to DC, and this is recommended because it gets new features faster and includes future updates (probably will be necessary as Microsoft moves to Windows 10 edition when they feel like it, instead of waiting for Windows 11/12 etc..)

  • Official RP-5217-PDF form barcode of Directorate of taxes New York not no projection in DC, but shows that in earlier versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro.  Is there a solution? or is the broken form?

New York requires the fulfillment of its RP-5217-PDF form for all real estate closings.  The form automatically generates a bar code.  My office uses Apple/Mac computers and the barcode appears in all versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro before DC.  DC watch version the form without a bar code.  The form is available here: https://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/current_forms/orpts/rp5217.pdf is there a preference setting in DC that I'm missing, or is broken for the most recent version of the Adobe on a Mac?  Help, please.

I thought it was resolved in the continuous version of Acrobat and Reader, but maybe not... You can report the problem here: feature request/Bug Report Form

A workaround would be to upgrade to XI player for now. I agree this is a major issue and hope Adobe will solve it soon.
