  Please follow the methods.

  (a) open your Outlook Express e-mail program.

  (b) select the option 'Tools' in the Outlook menu bar. Click on 'accounts '.

  (c) choose the option "add a new email account."

  (d) market through the Outlook Express e-mail Setup Wizard. During the configuration of the e-mail, you will be asked to enter your e-mail for Hotmail, the password and the Hotmail server settings. To the incoming mail server, enter pop3.live.com. Enter the mail server setting outgoing smtp.live.com. When you are prompted for the "account name", just enter your Hotmail email address.

  (e) test your Hotmail account in Outlook Express by sending a test message. This is done by clicking on "New message" and send a message on your behalf to your Hotmail address. Once the message arrives in your Inbox, you will know that your Hotmail account is not working properly

  I'm having a problem where I get a sign in error whenever I try to access my Hotmail account using my smartphone or windows live mail.

  I CAN however use my web browser to connect and access the account in this way.

  I tried using 2 different laptops (windows 7 on both) and my android phone.

  I have reset the password twice and still have no chance to access the account outside the approach of above web browser.

  It seems that if you have activated the two-step verification when you changed your
  password. If you did, you can not use this password to authenticate in stupid
  programs like Windows Live Mail which cannot ask or submit to security codes. You
  need to generate a unique password app to use in situations like this.

  Just a suggestion. You have Norton Password Manager?  Seems that it is no longer supported and has a conflict with Hotmail which will not fix itself.

  I get all my emails in windows mail to people who have been corresponding with me. These contacts are in my address book, and they receive the mail that I send them.  This mail does not spam or in the deleted messages folder or any other folder.  There is not difference between the email I receive from these contacts and emails that I don't get.  All my mail is traversing on my blackberry and Qwest web site (the DSL provider), but some do not come through my PC in windows mail.  It cannot be a security setting because, as I said, I get some mail from these contacts, even if the mail attachments.  There is no error message to alert me that there is a problem with the mail they send me.  I called Qwest and they said it was a problem with microsoft do not transfer windows mail.

  It's good to know - it looks like it would solve the problem entirely if I checked unvoid server after, say 10 days, because that would give enough time for each device download all messages.  But that would create another problem?  What happens if I forgot to check my email on one of my devices for more than 10 days? (I mean the PC or laptop, not the Blackberry, because he keeps serving messages regardless of whether or not I visualize them.)  I noticed that I don't get always the messages on my computers until I logged on to Windows Mail and I click on send / receive - so the messages come through.  Maybe they wouldn't have come through after 10 days.  Should I choose a longer period of time, or it would not make a difference?

  It seems that Avast is blocking messages from anyone not in your contacts list (much too tight fixed).  Disable the function of checking email and see if that solves the problem.  If so, run it without the option of e-mail enabled - it does not really help as long as you take normal precautions (as not to open attachments from people you don't know / trust and things like that).  If you don't know how to disable this feature, contact technical support Avast (I do not use the product so I don't know how, but it's probably under Options or something like that).  If this does not work, try to go to Microsoft Security Essentialshttp://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Microsoft-Security-Essentials-Download-131683.html where I know that this problem is not happen and see if that solved the problem.
