What is the difference between Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail
I have a laptop with Windows 7 and 'Windows Live Mail account'. It seems to work very well! About 11 months later, I bought a desktop computer with Windows 7 and I tried and tried to get this computer to the top in the same way, but with a different e-mail account. Whenever I try to set up mail, it always comes back with Windows Live HotMail. My question is: is there a difference between accounts "Windows Live Mail" and "Windows Live Hotmail?" If there is a difference, why can't I created a NEW Windows LIve Mail account on my new desktop computer if I use an email 'different '?
Internet service provider (ISP) - those that you get your Internet from.
Email Service Provider - the people who provide you your e-mail services (usually can be understood by your email address - as @hotmail.com, Hotmail/Windows Live Mail or @gmail.com average Google mail...) Etc.
Email Client - the application on your computer that you use to send and receive email from your provider. Could be Microsoft Outlook (all versions), Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, or you can simply use Internet Explorer/Firefox/Safari/opera and so on to connect to the web interface of your e-mail Service provider and consult your emails in this way.
Sign here is just one thing. Your real account. You may have several.

Issue of mail from Windows Live contacts
I just bought a new computer with vista and windows mail. My old computer used XP and outlook express 6. In express, I had my contacts every day in the directory of Contacts main identity as well as several subdirectories like school, Viet Nam Vets, etc.. I do not send contacts to the group, but what I do is go through the appropriate directory, that I like to use, then select the names that I want to send. I find that windows mail does not appear to allow me to do. When I used to start an email in outlook express and go to 'From', all that would come up is my main identity Contacts (from which I could choose who I want to send the e-mail to), and I also want to send to people in another of subdirectories, I was going to click on the arrow down, and these directories would all belong to me access. Now in windows mail I tried to make the contacts in the group for my previous under directories, but when I go to 'To' on mail every contact I have seems to be a very long process to select the people I want to send to. How to achieve the same thing using windows mail?
Geoff I Hall, take a look at the following links, I think they're what you're wanting to accomplish:

2. which version of the Windows operating system is installed in the computer?

4. are you aware of any recent software or the hardware in the computer changes?
Please provide us with this additional information so that we are able to help you the best.

Duplicate E-mail from Windows Live contacts
I created a few new contacts. When I wrote an email and sent to 3 contacts, one of the names of the contact appeared twice, so when I went to send the e-mail he wouldn't let me because the address of one was not in the right format. So, I deleted the contact and he added once again, and it's the same thing. What is the cause and how do I fix?
Thank you!
Please repost your question in Forum Windows Live E-mail to: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop where experts in this program will be happy to help you.
Good luck!

I don't use any anti-virus or anti-spyware, except Windows Defender.
I suspect that you see the effects of a hijackware infection. Since you have no applications installed virus protection (and, I suppose, you have not installed in Windows XP is), my recommendation is the following:
Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows XP. (Because you upgraded from Windows XP to Win7, you can not do a clean install of Win7.) Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!
CF. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps
Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or a network otherwise and before using a USB key that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:
