It is always sensible in this situation to achieve a malware check

Start the computer in safe mode with network and download and install Malwarebytes (free version for individuals only), updated definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software while you do the analyses.
    http://www.precisesecurity.com/how-to/HT-smodewnet.htm

Download and run SuperAntiSpyware (Free Edition)
    http://www.SUPERAntiSpyware.com/download.html

Some malware is installing the entries of proxy server redirecting internet connections. If you encounter this problem step 2 see in the following link:
    http://www.myantispyware.com/2011/02/21/how-to-remove-Internet-Security-Essentials-virus/

Currently, this is a good combination that seems to detect more malware, but it can miss the malware as all security software can do.

  • \boot\bootsect.exe is not a valid win32 application

I am currently running windows xp pro 32 bit OS. A windows 7 ultimate 64 bit ISO of the OS file is also in my possession. My goal is to begin installing WINDOWS ULTIMATE 64 BIT on a USB. I finally found a promising link via google search. ( http://www.bwana.org/2009/01/11/how-to-install-windows-7-beta-from-a-usb-drive-to-an-hp-mini-1000-without-vista/ ) I managed to go to step 12. In the 13th stage, I'm stuck. I get error -k:\boot\bootsect.exe is not a valid win32 application that I am running a 32 bit OS. Is anyway to change this?

Some sites offer a free download of a 32-bit version of Windows 7 is bootsect.exe. Should I replace my bootsect.exe 64 (present in my file ISO Win7x64Ultimate of origin) with a 32 bit one and create an ISO file with the rest of the intact files, I'll be able to get through the 13th stage?

Also, I have 5 drives in "My Computer". Each partitioned using NTFS file system. My XP Pro 32 bit is in the C: drive. I do not fear to lose the C: data because this is where I plan to install win7 ultimate 64-bit. However, I do not want the files in other readers. My question is-"I'll be able to access these files in other drives after installing win7 x 64 in the C: drive? »

    1 million thanks any help.

If you have purchased Widnows 7 since the MS Store:

When you create a bootable USB device, I get an error on bootsect
To make the USB bootable, you must run a tool called bootsect.exe. In some cases, this tool must be downloaded from your Microsoft Store account. This can happen if you try to create a USB bootable 64-bit from 32-bit version of Windows. To download bootsect:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft Store account to view your purchase history
    2. Search for your purchase of Windows 7.
    3. Next to Windows 7, there is a drop-down list "additional download options.
    4. In the drop-down menu, select "32-bit ISO."
    5. Right-click on the link and then save the bootsect.exe file to the location where you installed the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (for example C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool).
    6. Once the file has been saved, return to the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to create your bootable USB device.

If you do not - Instructions I could find:

Follow these instructions to work around the bootsect error:

    a. download and install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool program, as described on theMicrosoft Store website.

    b. download a working version of 32-bit bootsect.exe . Here is a link to the 32 bit bootsect.exe:

    bootsect7600x86.zip
    From: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/54443-32-bit-bootsect.html

    c. Once downloaded, copy the BootSect.exe file in the same folder that contains the file ofWindows7-USB-DVD-Download - Tool.exe installed. This file in Windows Vista's default installation directory isC:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool\ (you need to look in XP)

    d. application of the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool as described on theMicrosoft Store website. The end result will give you a boot USB flash drive that contains everything you need to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

I'm on a computer running Windows XP Professional and that you want to open an Excel 2007 using Excel 2003 file and I said I need to download and run a program of conversion of Microsoft.  When I try to run the program I get the following message: "FileFormatConverters.exe is not a valid Win32 application".  I have all the updates that are required for Windows XP and Office on my computer and don't know what to do next.  I also tried to run the program by saving the first file and running right from the download process.  Any advice would be appreciated.

  • «.. . DLL is not designed to run on windows... 'and/or'... .exe is not a valid win32 application... ' and/or 'bad image '.

Programs will no longer work until I reboot (uh, it's rebooting) with one of the following error messages: "...". DLL is not designed to run on windows... 'and/or'... .exe is not a valid win32 application... ' and/or 'bad image '.

Since I got a malware infection (CloudShield) I have had this problem since. At one point I was Windows Vista (could be minutes, hours or days - it varies) to get one or more of these messages for a variety of programs and the dll for things that worked perfectly well until there.  The most recent was to explore "Explorer.exe is not a windows 32 application '! Obviously, I couldn't have been using my computer and opening existing as an Excel document files and the Explorer window that is currently open if this were true!  Everything I run worked fine, until suddenly something I try to open opens more and gives me one of the errors above.  This does not happen when I run mode without failure.

I managed to repair some of the damage generated by the CloudShield, including how it has disabled my task manager and other programs of the Control Panel, in what I could find on registry cleaning and removing the exe file that he had pointed to. There is clearly something wrong again. I run sfc/scannow and tried the other recommendations in "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833" who have found no problem.  I use Zonealarm and have run its auditor of the filesystem a couple of times (on the entire Program Files folder and the Temp files) and not found anything wrong either.

I found similar problems in the media, but they always a specific .exe or .dll. I have not found that address this kind of

Although I have not worked as in depth with Windows Vista, I used to install, configure and support business (including beta versions) on Windows NT and XP applications, so I'm not exactly a novice working with programs installed on Windows, I'm completely baffled by this.

If you have been infected by malware, the safest bet is to reinstall.
