E3000 Streaming to Xbox 360 USB Storage Media

I am very satisfied with my purchase of the E3000 to date. However, a function seems to allude to me. One of the main reasons for buying this router was due to its media server functionality. I wanted to be able to stream on my UPnP devices (ps3, xbox360, etc) without having to keep my power of a PC running pig. I set up the HD using tab of the advanced configuration of the router storage and created several actions on the Media Server tab. The good news is that I am able to access the share on my PS3. The bad news is that I can not on my Xbox360s. As the Xbox360s has built in Wireless N, I really wish I could listen to this system. Has anyone found how to do this?

Well, it's been confirmed that it was something with the Xbox. An update that I found when I lit there today waiting seems to have corrected the problem. Works like a charm. No stutter or anything. Awesome and exactly what I wanted to get this router!

  • How do I share files on Xbox 360 without Windows Media Player or 3rd Party applications

Windows 7 sharing media files to the xbox 360 without media player

I know that I can use Media Player 12 in windows 7 to share files on xbox 360 using the libraies, but I used to be able to share without media player and I would like to be able to do it again, but I can't seem to get my shared folders will appear on xbox. I don't know if I need to use folders to share public or not, but someone has all the answers on this for me?

I use my xbox 360 to watch the video content streamed from my PC pretty much every night through a continuous connection to the xbox. You do not need Media Player or any other 3rd party application to video media IF THEY ARE THE RIGHT SIZE for a XBOX, you just need the PC configured for videos, turned on and networked with the xbox

It is simple and quick, and depending on the content, there are two methods that I use:

    (1) as Etzel42 has described - in Windows 7 Control Panel > network and sharing Center, go to Advanced sharing > Media Streaming, select "chose the flowing media options...» ». If the Xbox 360 is running and put in place on the same (Local) network as the PC it will be displayed here but the value "blocked." Just change "Authorized" and click ok. (If you do not see the Xbox 360 listed here then the Xbox and PC cannot see each other on the network. You must address this issue before anything else).

Once that streaming media is running, the video files you want to share with the Xbox is in addition to your video library. This can be done in en allant going to the computer, right-click on the 'Vidéos' library, go to 'Properties', then include the video or files to share. As a double check that all video files are available for the Xbox, open Media Player and see if he can see all the files/folders that you added. Close Media Player now, you do not need it works for watching videos on the xbox

Now, go to the Xbox, go to the dashboard in my Xbox and video library. You should see the name of your PC as a selection. Open it and then open the folders that you added to PCs video shops and once again, if media files are in the right play on the Xbox, watch now format!

    (2) configure the Xbox Extender and Windows Media Center, and then run Media Center on the Xbox, this will allow you to play any kind of media format on the Xbox that you can play on the PC. It is ideal to play the Xbox formats cannot be opened natively too, it's pretty darn picky.

In both methods you have not need of any application is running on the PC. Simply be turned on and available for the Xbox via the network. The Xbox will do the rest. In fact, one nice feature of the library on the Xbox 360 is that if your PC is in standby (Sleep), Media Center will wake up the PC.

  • Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center interfere with the operation of the Vista computer.

Since the implementation of an Xbox 360 for the family to use, turning power switch and return to the dashboard caused Windows Media Center on the laptop family to turn on automatically, which, in some cases, interrupts programs and blocks computer. Sometimes the computer will be same turns on automatically when the XBox is turned on.

I've done everything I can think of to stop the problem, including 'disconnect' XBox WMC in the "Uninstall" the XBox and the XBox settings in the settings of WMC. I do not anticipate using WMC in the near future, I just want to stop this crazy to happen.

Thanks in advance for any help and please ask if you need more information on my problem.

    Hello ebduhamel,

    1. what type of connection you have between the computer and the Xbox, it's a cable or a wireless connection?

    2. is it to wake up the computer from standby or everything just stops?

I suggest you try the steps below and check if you have the same problem.

This could be possible only if media sharing is enabled on your computer.

I suggest that you turn off media sharing and make sure you always have the same question:

    a. click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click media sharing.

    b. turn off media to find that others share and share my media to check boxes, and then click OK.

By clicking OK, you confirm that you want to turn off sharing for yourself. You will also be asked if you want to turn off sharing for everyone who uses this computer. Note that if you let one of the selected check boxes, some sharing services may continue to run in the background.

    c. When you are prompted to turn off sharing for everyone who uses the computer, follow these steps:

To make your changes apply to all users of your computer (including yourself), click Yes.

  • Running and Xbox 360 via Windows Media Center

Hello, I am a new student of college, and because my funds are limited I am using my Xbox 360 via my PC monitor. When I bought my computer, I got also a HDTV Tuner with composite video options. Through their software, I could connect my xbox and see it, but I was wondering if there was a way I could do it through Windows Media Center or something similar. I saw that there is a cable that goes from the Xbox to VGA, but I think that there will be problems with the sound (where I have the red/white audio cables?). Not sure if there is a converter or not, but like I said before, funds are limited. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hear from someone as soon as possible.

    Tyler Campbell

    Hey TechTyler,

Since you have only one monitor and want to connect your PC and X - Box for the same monitor, I suggest that you try to find a separator that would help you get out of the XBox and the PC. You can use one of those to get the result on the same monitor of 2 devices. Who would use a VGA cable to connect 2 devices. You will be able to switch between your PC and the X - Box.You can try to search separator you can use to connect two monitors. I hope this information helps.

However, we at microsoft do not recommend or suggest one of these, you will need to use them at your own risk.

    Thank you

  • Xbox 360 scan windows media center for the new music?

I just added some new music to my windows media center and the music does not appear on my xbox 360. is there a way to synchronize?

    Hi nwills,

Ideally, the Xbox 360 should automatically scan if new music is added to Windows Media Center. However, you can also manually synchronize as follows.

a: you can connect the Xbox. The Xbox Dashboard, select 'My Xbox', then select 'Windows Media Center' to receive the eight-digit code. This code allows your Xbox to recognize your media player on your computer.

    b. you can set up Windows Media Center on your PC. Click on the "tasks" and select "Add Extender". A screen will appear asking you to enter the eight digit of your Xbox 360 code.

    c. play music on your Xbox. Select 'Windows Media Center' in the menu 'My Xbox' and start playing music.

  • Beyond bandwidth USB - for wireless XBOX 360 USB controller adapter

When I plug in the adapter for a XBOX controller wireless I get the message: USB bandwidth exceeded.
It seems that the receiver is trying to monopolize an incredible part of the bandwidth. I need only to run a single controller.
Is it possible to say to the adapter does not get all?

It is impossible to disconnect other USB devices. The device that seems contradictory e b is headphones Razer Megalodon (my only sound source).

I found my problem.  Given that the mine has been specifically with headphones, I spent a day about making term research trying to find the problem.  The problem with mine was that the 360 adapter tries constantly to receive voice entering, even if none is present.  So when I tried to use my USB headset, basically, I was trying to use two different USB audio devices and Windows wouldn't not just that.  So I gave the 360 receiver since I cannot tell to not search for audio / voice and have ordered a playstation 2 controller adapter.

  • Media center immediately crashes when I try to add the extender for the Xbox 360

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I try to add the extender for the Xbox 360 to Windows Media Center. When I go to Media Center tasks and add an Extender, Media Center crashes immediately after I enter my Xbox console 8-digit code and click Next.  I have disabled the firewall of the router and firewall windows without success.  Restart the computer and the Xbox has not helped either.  Any suggestions that I can not yet put in place the Extender?

    Thank you.

    Hi Eric,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum!

According to the description of the problem, it seems that you have trouble connecting Xbox 360 extender for Windows Media Center.

I will certainly help you with this issue.

Here are some methods that you can try in order to solve the problem.

Method 1: Disable the antivirus software and make sure.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Clear the Xbox 360 console system cache and check.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971755

Method 3: Reconnect to Windows Media Center

In the event that something happened to your connection, try to disconnect and reconnect to your Windows Media Center computer.

To disconnect and reconnect to Windows Media Center:

    a. in the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open Control Panel.
    b. Select computers, Windows Media Center.
    c. Select Disconnect.
    d. Select the installation program and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Media Center Windows Installer.

The last five entries are exactly the same as above.  During this attempt, I had turned on the Firewall Norton back after that defining carefully all the rules required by the above mentioned article.  The results are the same if I have the active firewall or disabled - just says error message the connection has expired when the firewall is disabled.

I hope someone can help me with this - I have spent all day trying to solve this and I'm at the end of my rope.

OK, so I spent all morning pour on my router configs without success and then realized that my drive mapping had stopped working when I updated to my current router E4200.  So I double checked all configs in Windows file sharing and realized that I had activated password sharing which prevented the player sharing between my laptop and my laptop children without creating the same user accounts on each box.  Who sets and I was able to get my shared drives. Then I pulled upward to Media Center again and got exactly the same answer as before.  I thought I was really puzzled but thought I would try and open shared files, I could see on my Xbox AND THIS TIME IT WORKED!  It must have been the password of sharing that prevented the connections between the Media Center on my laptop and Xbox and he disguised himself as a firewall or setting a timeout problem that led me down the wrong path.

Thanks for the suggestion check the router settings.  I would not have thought to double check my disk sharing settings otherwise.

  • Can share files with the XBox 360 to Windows 7, but unable to connect to Windows Media Center

I reinstalled my system of exploitation of 64-bit Windows 7 to Windows 7 32 bit and reinstalled the documents to the user and the location of the program on a separate hard drive data. I was able to add both my XBox 360 on Windows Media Center Extender at least 15 times before that, but it's the only time wherever I reinstalled with 32-bit and moving the location of the documents to another drive (even if I still have them settle there but just by changing the location under properties after the operating system is installed).

When I try to add the Xbox 360 as an Extender, it goes up to like making up the 'contact' on the Xbox loading screen, but then the Media Center on the PC says something in the sense of "Windows Media Center has encountered an error... »

Anyone can shed some light on this situation?

    Hello

You can try to reset Windows Media Center, see these steps.

    (a) click Start
    (b) open the Control Panel, then programs and features.
    (c) click on "Tor disable features of Windows of the URN"in the left pane.
    (d) develop "multimedia functions", uncheck "Windows Media Center". Click 'Yes' to continue and click OK to exit.
    (e) and then restart the computer.

Once the computer is restarted, perform the following steps.

    (a) reopen 'or turn off Windows features turn on'. Enable features. "Windows Media Center". Restart the computer.
    (b) launch Windows Media Center, initialize program.

    Check if the problem persists.

  • E4200 with Win 7 - could not connect to the sharing of files on the USB storage device

Hi, I tried several disks now, but am mainly interested in getting my Iomega 1 TB drive to work, but none of the 3 I tried to do. None of the USB drives I had when buying this router on the list of "approved" ridiculously short which is of course not noticed when buying the router, but the discs are recognized, I can FTP to one of them (Filezilla), format, create to-DOS, etc. via the web interface... the only thing that does not seem to work is to map the created actions. The error obtained net use is 'System error 1231' giving in 'Map network drive', 'Windows cannot access\\192.168.1.1' with 0x800704cf error code. I get what I pass credentials or not. Please advise, external storage has been the main reason that I bought this router and I need to know if I should return it. Thank you

I know that sounds totally absurd given that FTP and what - not worked, but I swapped the USB cable I was using between readers and the router, and presto, it worked. I been in this business a lot of time and work with Cisco equipment all the time, so I know how ridiculous, this sounds like a solution, and perhaps in the context of permutation that cable thing happened I can't remember since I was a package 6 deep at the time... but it works now... now, if I can get just the AVI 1080 p files to stream to Xbox 360 without the video do rough I will be gold... but that's another thread. Thank you all.
