EBS R12 dataguard physical standby

Hi all

BSE R12.2.4

RHEL 6

Most of the physical standby of companies used to be opened read only for reports.

It comes to unload part of the load of PROD for better performance.

Most of the reporting tools are 3rd party like Jasper, Crystal, Java, .net, Apex, Toad, Sqldev, etc.

My question is can a simultaneous Manager EBS reports can execute on a database read-only?

Thank you very much

    Hi experts,

    Should  I make the import before or after the configuration of the standby database?

    Do the IMPORT in the first place.

    If you don't you risk ruining the FRA on the primary and the side of the watch. Roll forward stops applying the second FRA hit the limit of the day before or worse another day or two more later, when you think you're in the clear. Even if you do not use any shipping FRA for a reason this remake is not a good idea on a new system of Data Guard. You might have another question and you just made it by performing an import of this size. On most systems you would add additional 500 more redo logs to the mix.

    Also, you can duplicate using RMAN standby database after import very easily.

    I probably expected a few days after I imported before primary futures a less that I built the day before.

    I have a solid duplicate document and will share if you have decided to go this route.

  • DG 1 physical standby

    Hello

    11.2.0.1

    We have a DEV database which is also as critical as the PROD db since there are many strategic projects running on it.

    This DEV database has been configured with dataguard physical standby on the DR server.

    Well, that's what I read in the documents only as I'm newly taken over as a dba. Setup has been done outsourced

    by 3rd party, and I can't talk to the implentors, as they were long gone.

    When I check the DR server that only the PROD is running and the DEV was arrested for the last 12 months.

    My question is if the physical standby is stopped for almost a year, can it still be activated? or is it still valid?

    This will affect the performance of the primary database? Since he could always check heartbeat for her? or delay some process as archivers?

    How to disable the physical standby from the primary database?

    Thank you

    Petra k.

    Hello;

    "If the physical standby is stopped for almost a year, can it still be activated? or is it still valid? »

    No and no. Even a tiny production database would have generated and remove too many archives in a year for the old standby at any value. Rebuild it.

    How to disable the physical standby from the primary database?

    You could do just that: (primary side)

    ALTER system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = reporter;

    And you can clean all the parameters for DG too.

  • 2nd physical standby (dataguard)

    Hi all

    Can you give me docs on how the program installation/create/configure a 2nd physical standby (dataguard)?

    Hello;

    Sorry for the delay. I live on the other side of the world, and I have a few questions to do with my family.

    Port 1521 is the default value for the listener, so if your listener uses different ports, they need to be taken into account in the firewall.

    The error you are getting is related to network. You check the configuration of the receiver and confirm the port you are using.

  • DataGuard (activate a physical standby as a stand-alone database database)?

    Hi all

    Can I please ask advice on how it would activate a physical database ensures for 11.2.0.4?

    Note - I do not want to return the "standby" to watch again...

    Note 1 – I don't have (and don't use flashback technology to do this) - so I can't use a watch "snapshot"...

    Note 2 - the 'primary' current cannot be touched.

    Something like below?

    Repeat stop applies to pending

    SQL > alter database recover managed standby database cancel;

    Stop redo pending transaction logs.

    PRIMARY

    SQL > ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2 = DELAY;

    Activate and open the database physical sleep.

    Physical STANDBY

    SQL > ALTER DATABASE ENABLE PENDING DATA base;

    SQL > STARTUP MOUNT FORCE;

    SQL > alter database base_de_donnees ensures together to improve performance;

    SQL > ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

    Concerning

    It wouldn't affect Production (primary). It's just the steps of failover.

    The same applies to the role transition, but in a role transition, you must first pass at the primary level of Eve and the day before, you must run the digital switchover to make primary.

    You could refer to this https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e41134/role_management.htm#SBYDB4769 you would get to the difference of the steps for the passage and failover.

    Hi all

    I solved my problem now. I'm just being dumb of me

    In the init.ora, I see that there comment #.

    #log_archive_start = true

    Since it's the eve before db, it did not matter if its commented out.

    But when I switch to it, now, the question to which it can not automatically archive the online redo, it is why ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE wait forever

    Thank you ALL.

  • Waiting for redo log file missing when restore main database using RMAN backup that was taken on the database physical standby

    Here's my question after tons of research and test without have the right solutions.

    Target:

    (1) I have a 12.1.0.2 database unique main enterprise 'testdb' as database instance running on the server "node1".

    (2) I created physical standby database "stbydb" on the server "node2".

    (3) DataGuard running on the mode of MaxAvailability (SYNC) with roll forward in real time 12 default c apply.

    (4) primary database has 3 groups of one-man redo. (/oraredo/testdb/redo01.log redo02.log redo03.log)

    (5) I've created 4 standby redo logfiles (/oraredo/testdb/stby01.log stby02.log stby03.log stby04.log)

    (6) I do RMAN backup (database and archivelog) on the site of relief only.

    (7) I want to use this backup for full restore of the database on the primary database.

    He is a DR test to simulate the scenario that has lost every primary & Eve total servers.

    Here is how to save, on the database pending:

    (1) performance 'alter database recover managed standby database Cancel' to ensure that compatible data files

    (2) RMAN > backup database;

    (3) RMAN > backup archivelog all;

    I got elements of backup and copied to primary db Server something like:

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_nnndf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq099p_.BKP (data files)

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.BKP (spfile & controlfile)

    /Home/Oracle/backupset/o1_mf_annnn_TAG20151002T133357_c0xq15xf_.BKP (archivelogs)

    So here's how to restore, on the main site:

    I clean all the files (data files, controlfiles oder all gone).

    (1) restore spfile from pfile

    RMAN > startup nomount

    RMAN > restore spfile from pfile ' / home/oracle/pfile.txt' to ' / home/oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.bkp';

    (2) modify pfile to convert to db primary content. pFile shows below

    *.audit_file_dest='/opt/Oracle/DB/admin/testdb/adump '

    * .audit_trail = "db".

    * full = '12.1.0.2.0'

    *.control_files='/oradata/testdb/control01.ctl','/orafra/testdb/control02.ctl'

    * .db_block_size = 8192

    * .db_domain = "

    *.db_file_name_convert='/testdb/','/testdb /'

    * .db_name = "testdb".

    * .db_recovery_file_dest ='/ orafra'

    * .db_recovery_file_dest_size = 10737418240

    * .db_unique_name = "testdb".

    *.diagnostic_dest='/opt/Oracle/DB '

    * .fal_server = "stbydb".

    * .log_archive_config = 'dg_config = (testdb, stbydb)'

    * .log_archive_dest_2 = "service = stbydb SYNC valid_for = (ONLINE_LOGFILE, PRIMARY_ROLE) db_unique_name = stbydb'"

    * .log_archive_dest_state_2 = 'ENABLE '.

    *.log_file_name_convert='/testdb/','/testdb /'

    * .memory_target = 1800 m

    * .open_cursors = 300

    * runoff = 300

    * .remote_login_passwordfile = "EXCLUSIVE."

    * .standby_file_management = "AUTO".

    * .undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS1.

    (3) restart db with updated file pfile

    SQLPLUS > create spfile from pfile='/home/oracle/pfile.txt'

    SQLPLUS > the judgment

    SQLPLUS > startup nomount

    (4) restore controlfile

    RMAN > restore primary controlfile to ' / home/oracle/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20151002T133329_c0xq0sgz_.bkp';

    RMAN > change the editing of the database

    (5) all elements of backup catalog

    RMAN > catalog starts by ' / home/oracle/backupset / '.

    (6) restore and recover the database

    RMAN > restore database;

    RMAN > recover database until the SNA XXXXXX; (this YVERT is the maximum in archivelog backups that extends beyond the scn of the backup of the data file)

    (7) open resetlogs

    RMAN > alter database open resetlogs;

    Everything seems perfect, except one of the file log roll forward pending is not generated

    SQL > select * from v$ standby_log;

    ERROR:

    ORA-00308: cannot open archived log ' / oraredo/testdb/stby01.log'

    ORA-27037: unable to get file status

    Linux-x86_64 error: 2: no such file or directory

    Additional information: 3

    no selected line

    I intended to use the same backup to restore primary basic & helps record traffic and the downtime between them in the world of real output.

    So I have exactly the same steps (except STANDBY restore CONTROLFILE and not recover after database restore) to restore the database pending.

    And I got the same missing log file.

    The problem is:

    (1) complete alert.log filled with this error, not the concern here

    (2) now repeat it in real time apply won't work since the Party shall LGWR shows always "WAITING_FOR_LOG."

    (3) I can't delete and re-create this log file

    Then I tried several and found:

    The missing standby logfile was still 'ACTIVE' at present RMAN backup was made.

    For example, on db standby, under Group #4 (stby01.log) would be lost after the restoration.

    SQL > select GROUP #, SEQUENCE #, USE (s), the STATUS from v$ standby_log;

    GROUP # SEQUENCE # USED STATUS

    ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

    4 19 ACTIVE 133632

    5 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    6 0 0 not ASSIGNED

    7 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    So until I take the backup, I tried on the primary database:

    SQL > alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = delay;

    This was the Group of standby_log side Eve #4 was released:

    SQL > select GROUP #, SEQUENCE #, USE (s), the STATUS from v$ standby_log;

    GROUP # SEQUENCE # USED STATUS

    ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

    4 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    5 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    6 0 0 not ASSIGNED

    7 0 0 UNASSIGNED

    Then, the backup has been restored correctly without missing standby logfile.

    However, to change this primary database means break DataGuard protection when you perform the backup. It's not accept on the production environment.

    Finally, my real questions come:

    (1) what I do may not do on parameter change?

    (2) I know I can re-create the control file to redo before delete and then recreate after. Is there any simple/fast to avoid the standby logfile lost or recreate the lost one?

    I understand that there are a number of ways to circumvent this. Something to keep a copy of the log file waiting restoration progress and copy up one missing, etc, etc...

    And yes I always have done no real-time applies "to the aid of archived logfile" but is also not accept mode of protection of production.

    I just want proof that the design (which is displayed in a few oracle doc Doc ID 602299.1 is one of those) that backs up data backup works effectively and can be used to restore the two site. And it may be without spending more time to resume backups or put the load on the primary database to create the database before.

    Your idea is very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    1--> when I take via RMAN backup, RMAN does not redo log (ORL or SRL) file, so we cannot expect ORLs or SRL would be restored.

    2nd--> when we opened the ORL database should be deleted and created

    3rd--> Expecting, SRL should not be an issue.we should be able to do away with the fall.

  • Unable to set data EBS R12 loading mappings in FDMEE

    Hello

    I try to incorporate EBS R12 and HFM, using FDMEE 11.1.2.3.500. Here are the steps I followed:

    a. set up the EBS_DATA_SERVERS and the PHYSICS of PATTERNS in ODI to point to the EBS Instance using user applications

    b. set Source EBS R12 system and click INITIALIZE. (Validated that initialization is complete without errors)

    c. selected the ENTITIES of ACCOUTING suitable SOURCE for Source R12 system

    Now, when I define a new IMPORT LOCATION, I am unable to see that no matter what EBS the SEGMENTS of the SOURCE under the grid of DATA SUPPORT MAPPING format to import

    Is there something hurts? Also strangely, I'm not even in the SOURCE ACCOUNTING ENTITIES RESPONSIBILITIES when I want to define the Drill Through function

    Thank you

    Mohit

    One of the reasons that you might not see entries in the drop-down segments are filtered by the entries according to the language of the browser or the language settings of the user FDMEE for localization purposes. You might want to try adjust the configuration > user settings > language of the user FDMEE to see if that can do the segments appear.

    We have a system of source English EBS 12 test with and if I change my installation > user settings > user language in FDMEE for something else that the English United States then save and return to the screen of import format, segment menu drop-down boxes are now completely empty. If I change to en - us while they are back once again. I believe that the language accepted by the browser or the user language setting in FDMEE must match the language of 'base' on the source system registration screen.

    With a little luck it might be

  • Test of physical Standby DB 11 g

    Hi all

    My company is considering a DR test in a few months, and since I never did this until I was wondering what would be the best way to go on the DB pending tests. This is a database of 11G (11.2.0.3). I read the following articles:

    http://gavinsoorma.com/2009/09/11g-snapshot-standby-for-real-time-testing/

    http://www.Pythian.com/blog/testing-a-physical-standby-database-in-Oracle-10G/

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/articles/SQL/11g-DataGuard-083323.html

    From what I can tell the snapshot method is the easiest. My main question is when the primary method still must send the archive logs to the waiting or can I defer only to archive log shipping? How we test normally the site of DR is completely disconnect the network connections and put everything in place for the primary will not be able to speak to the waiting and vice versa. Or is the best method to follow the other article that speaks using the flashback database?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    From what I can tell the snapshot method is the easiest. My main question is when the primary method still must send the archive logs to the waiting or can I defer only to archive log shipping?

    Are you in 11g, yes instant is a nice feature to test your intelligence. If you enable the destination, there is no problem. Meanwhile if too many records are generated and then it takes a long time to get a site to DR.

    How we test normally the site of DR is completely disconnect the network connections and put everything in place for the primary will not be able to speak to the waiting and vice versa

    You can also completely disconnect the primary DR and tests after the conversion of the physics on the eve of the snapshot if it is your condition to do so.

    Or is the best method to follow the other article that speaks using the flashback database?

    In traditional flashback, you will need to take care just like the creation of restore point with guarantee, mode standby manually and run again then flashback to the restore point. Snapshot is really simple and easy to use. If am in your position of course I use the standby database snapshot.

  • RAC & DataGuard (physical pending)

    Hi all

    I am trying to get a high level overview of how CARS & DataGuard behave in the following configuration. I wrote my understanding of how things work. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    (1) node RAC (primary) 2 with a physical standby of single instance.

    (a) same init.ora parameters related Eve would have configured on both nodes main cars.
    (b) redo apply service to sleep could merge the redo leave the 2 wires of the primary and apply it to the night before to preserve the synchronization.
    (c) during RAC primary instance must be to the top outside of the instance of Eve.
    (d) during the downgrade as a primary RAC instance should be in place outside the instance of Eve.
    (e) during the failover ofcourse the two primary instances would be down that guarantees the fail on.

    (2) node 2 (primary) CARS with a physical standby 2 node

    This is when it becomes complex and I'm not really sure how a, b, c, d, e would be in this scenario. Appreciate if you could throw some light on this and the list of what
    a, b, c, d, e could look like in this scenario.

    I'm assuming that only one instance in the standby THAT CARS should be in place when the watch is in configuration CARS to do it again apply to the work.

    Also, if there is a white paper procedure step by step details to put in place the 2 scenarios above, please let me know. So far, I could not find that the MAA white paper, but which was not very helpful. If you prescribe a good book for RAC & DataGuard would be too great...

    Thanks for your help

    >

    (1) node RAC (primary) 2 with a physical standby of single instance.

    (a) same init.ora parameters related Eve would have configured on both nodes main cars.

    Usually rac nodes share their spfile on a shared diskvolume or through the ASM. So they were all identically DG parameter

    (b) redo apply service to sleep could merge the redo leave the 2 wires of the primary and apply it to the night before to preserve the synchronization.

    Fix

    (c) during RAC primary instance must be to the top outside of the instance of Eve.

    Seems logical to me
    Edit: actually during normal operation the two RAC nodes are up, so during the transition to digital they are both active too
    This is the configuration that is important. As soon as the wait becomes primary, it could be that he only talks to one RAC node for its files of log-apply

    (d) during the downgrade as a primary RAC instance should be in place outside the instance of Eve.

    This single is the only race in step c.

    (e) during the failover ofcourse the two primary instances would be down that guarantees the fail on.

    Fix. Remember that during a failover of the RAC config would be déconfigurée the setting of the DG and must be added again as before.

    You may need to take a look at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/pdf/MAA_WP_10g_RACPrimarySingleInstancePhysicalStandby.pdf

  • How to open a physical standby database "Manual" in read/write mode

    Hello

    I am running Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64 bit Standard Edition Production on Linux version 2.6.9 - 42.0.8.ELsmp ([email protected]) (version gcc 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6 - 3))

    I created a physical standby database, but since I am running Standard Edition, I don't use the features in DataGuard. I use the utility rsync to copy on the data pending archivelogs, and I periodically applied to the standby database.

    The standby database is started in this way:

    startup nomount pfile='/u01/oradata/orcl/initorcl.stdby';
    ALTER database base_de_donnees eve of Mount;

    Everything works perfectly, I can "open database in read-only alter" and then I can make selects in the tables to confirm that everything is up-to-date.

    The thing is, if I stop the database and then perform the boot simply:

    stop immediately;
    start-up;

    The database opens with an error message, but it is always in read-only mode...

    I read that the default behavior for a database ensure must open read-only, as I am experiencing, but I would like to know what is the right way to open it in read-write mode correctly (I understand that after this, my watch will not standby more and I need to recreate my database pending).

    Thank you

    Carpet

    Try: -.

  • Problem with data hold creating a Physical Standby Database turorial

    There is a tutorial for creating a Data Guard Physical Standby Database:
    http://www.Oracle.com/technology/OBE/11gr1_db/HA/DataGuard/physstby/physstdby.htm

    I tried to install it on two servers. One for a primary database (deuxieme for the physical standby.
    I have the error on creating C. the database of watch on the #6 action network:

    «On the rescue system, set the ORACLE_SID to your < SID physical standby > environment variable (i.e. orclsby1) and start the instance in NOMOUNT mode with the text initialization parameter file.»

    When I try to connect to the instance that is idle, there is an error pops up:

    C:\ > sqlplus / as sysdba

    SQL * more: version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production Thursday, May 21, 16:28:10 2009

    ERROR:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    I ' v checked listener, and it is managed. There is no database service because there is still no database.

    The question is did some data installed a guard configuration using this tutorial? Are there errors in there? What should I do to complete the installation?

    On Windhose for any service must have been created using the oradim command.
    Oracle tutorials are usually centered on Unix, because Windhose is an odd man out, so they do not discuss.
    "Please do the needful" and create the service before the beginning of the instance in nomount mode

    Tip: oradim is documented and has a help = clause of y.

    IIRC there is an option in control database (in the part of the interview) that automates everything.

  • ASIC can run on the same server/db like EBS (R12.1)

    Hello

    We have an EBS (R12.1) environment and intend to use the CPSA. I've seen environments where the CAWC runs in its own environment/database, etc. and connects to an instance of the EBS. Which is the only type of available configuration or can CAWC run fully within an environment of EBS/instance on the same server? If so, what are the consequences of such a configuration, for example on the performance.

    Thank you

    NAT.

    Hi Nat,

    ASIC can be configured in two ways:

    1 centralized - where the EBS and VCP reside on the same application server.

    2 decentralized - where the EBS and CRS are on two different application servers.

    Basically the motor nucleus of CPSA of planning does all the planning in the memory of the application server (and not in the database). This planning process is highly require a lot of resources (memory) and requires a huge memory (according to the data, the type of plan and many other factors). If the application servers are not the right size, this led to the poor performance of the application. And if both the planning and EBS reside on the same server, there are possibilities that you slow the global treatment through the functions of the company. That's why decentralized architecture is preferred, where the planning process running on another remote computer of your EBS and it didn't there in not affecting transactional modules.

    Beyond that, you have the ease of maintenance in terms of correction, update, addition of multiple of VCP modules, if you're on a decentralised architecture.

    Centralized architecture is also not rare. Many companies run their planning and EBS on a single machine.

    I hope that the above gives you a point of view, using which you can choose what suits your business best!
