  Hi people,

  I'd be keen for some advice on a project that I am considering. The owner of this site is extremely unhappy about the performance and appearance: Florist Flower Queenstown & Whangarei, specialize in weddings, functions... and asked me to consider support and make changes.

  I downloaded the files and opened some of the html pages in DW. There is no template file and it seems that each page is built from the images. To change the site would be quite difficult, as it seems.

  Apart from anything else, there are several errors of W3 and the basket does not work.

  However, as you guys have been super useful for me in the past with the queries of DW, I'd like to know what you would say: Edit this site to reflect the owner requested changes or to start again?

  This poor Lady paid $3 k for this and they ask for more money to operate properly and perform SEO on a regular basis.

It is not until the user withdraws the nasty look Paypal shopping basket will be seen. Most gateways like Worldpay are very ugly business, so using a shopping cart "made-to-measure" helps to maintain departmental and good user experience until the final checkout process.

I took over as webmaster month last in a company and want to change the companys Web site. How to download files on the web? I can do it with Contribute but not Dreamweaver.

  Create a local site folder in DW.  Site > Manage Sites > new.

  Go to Advanced > remote info and enter your log in details (FTP, URL host, username, password).

  Test the connection to the server.

  Then GET the files from the server.

  An existing site HTML files can be reused in Muse as Muse only works with files having the extension as .muse.

  However, you use apps like Dreamweaver to edit your existing HTML files.

  Your links to the includes/ice/ice.js on the site of subpages are incorrect.

  Must be:

  .. Since your include files are out of the root directory.

  So if for example you have a subdirectory to another subdirectory (e.g. subdir/anothersubdir /) the link to understand it because this page would need to read this title:

  You can go to Site > Manage Sites > export to create files .ste with your settings to be imported into the new version of the site. This way your info ftp and other site specific parameters will meet instantly, rather than having to create new definitions of site by hand.

  Other that that, there really nothing that needs to be done for CC to understand your old files.

  When installing CC, make sure you click on the advanced settings in the Installer link and disable "Remove older Versions". You can easily have CS5 and installed CC at the same time to make the transition less sharp. There are some pretty big changes between CS5 and CC can take you awhile to get under your belt. Have the old version will allow you to continue to work with something that you know while you do the adjustment with the new software.

  CC has more Spry example, if whatever it is done using the framework Spry will no longer offer that you dialogue windows when you want to change. You will need to either open the old program or switch to the jQuery version (if it is available in the DW interface). It won't 'break' your Spry effects, it just will not allow you to change from the windowed interface (adjustments should be coded manually or in the old software).

  Unfortunately not. Muse is a street in this regard. You can download the assets of the existing site, but you will need rebuild the site of Muse.

  I went the same route. I started to want to learn web design and the Muse is an excellent tool. The code it generates, however, not to use it in Dreamweaver. This could be done, I think this isn't worth it, even for a real Geek. Once you get to Muse you will find there are things missing, stuff, you want to do, but are just tough in Muse or you can buy a widget. It is possible in DW and you get which through subscription, so it makes sense. Me what I know now, I'll go directly to DW to learn, except if you want results right now. If you don't want something to cause I stay with Muse and maybe learn to animate CC to add some pizazz to the site. If you only want a simple layout and a couple supporting stick with Muse pages if you want a larger site use DW.   Yes, an existing site can be converted into delicate design, but there is no magic wand that will do it for you. It is mainly to create rules of style with questions from the media. Do a search for media queries tutorials. There are many available.

  Basically a media query says "apply this style if this condition corresponds to the browser window. The most frequently used terms are min-width and max-width. For example, the following styles apply to a different font size:

• Easy way to import existing sites in CS4 to CC

  Newbie with CC... I just downloaded the trial 30 CC of Dreamweaver after you have used previously, until 2 days ago CS4. The first opening of CC of Dreamweaver, I had the ability to import settings from a previous version of Dreamweaver. I thought that this would bring in all my existing sites? However, it seems that the dialog manage sites is completely empty. Can someone tell me if there is a quick way to import all my previous definitions of the site of CS4 without having to manually import .ste files? I am not sure I have ALL the .ste files, but perhaps most of them. It's just a real pain, having to import one by one. Would be VERY grateful for any advice. Thank you all.

  If you have previously exported all your CS4 .ste files site definitions, you can use these files to import settings into DW CC.  That said, CC is quite a leap of CS4.  In fact it might work better if you manually create the new CC site definitions.    Site > new Site...
