  Hello I have xampp installed on my mac (os 10.4) and just installed DW CS4.  Using an older version of DW (version 6 ) I was able to connect to my localhost without problem.  It is located in the local root folder (usr:Applications:xampp:xamppfiles:htdocs:test :) and the URL prefix for the test server is http://localhost/test/ and everything works ok.)  However in DW CS4 I get stuck the prompt asking me "what URL would you use to get to the root of your site?" and entry http://localhost/ does not work, nor does http://localhost/test/ (the location of my php files) or http://localhost/test/helloWorld.php no more than any other combination of crazy I tried to.

  The error message received when you click on "Test URL" is the following: Dreamweaver cannot use the prefix you have entered to display data in real time. Please, check the configuration of your site or click on Help etc. etc."by clicking Help is not really do the trick.

  Maybe CS4 don't like XAMPP?

  XAMPP on a Mac is relatively rare. For a long time, it has been marked as experiential and "use at your own risk. Most Mac users opt for MAMP. Anyway, if it works satisfactorily, the principle of the definition of a test server is the same for XAMPP and MAMP.

  I can't find a Date.htm file. I think that I removed it before when I had problems. It started after a recent security update. I don't have the financial means to upgrade.

  Too bad. I found it. I thought it would be in the library, but it was in Applications. I removed it and it is fine now.

  Don't worry if your site doesn't work at all in Internet Explorer for Mac.  It's outdated software that has not been developed since Jaguar/Panther.  In no way reflects IE on Windows, and statistics show the majority of Mac users use Safari or Firefox with Camino and opera in behind them.

• Editing text and adding links is crazy in DW CC - 20141

  Getting evidence of editing text requires TWO clicks to put the framework encompassing from blue to orange. I can't highlight and delete the text in several paragraphs (leaving a few boilerplate words at the beginning or a few words at the end). And the text keeps coming back to modify code (rectangle encompassing blue).

  In text edit mode, to add a link, I can no longer look at the properties panel and stretch the "pointer" to a file in the files Panel. The properties panel is grayed out. Yes, a link appears in a heads up/pop-up, but it forces me to go look for the file in file manager.

  These "improvements" are so boring that I come to the Dreamweaver CC to get the work done. These changes go against separating the content of the code, because I can not change my content without dealing with the code. I don't want to have to overcome the UI coding for my text.

  Am I missing something? An option? A Panel? I'm in the workspace CODE. This question seemed worst in the DESIGN workspace. (I use Windows 7 on a PC).

  Unfortunately, not missing anything. Adobe dropped the ball a bit and removed fluid Design view grid put forward they fully implemented the design view editing features in the new editor of Live View. They know the problem and are working.
