KB2483185 fails to install even after difficulty there 50593

I am unable to apply the update to Microsoft KB2483185 February.   I think it started because of a failure of file download, but that has been corrected and now is stuck because MS of a workaround does not work.

As stated on the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2483185, I ran Microsoft Fix it 50593 (and in fact have managed to activate and deactivate in trouble several times during troubleshooting) and I tried the update again with no joy.

I contacted the support of MS, and they walked me all first through a process of liberation of the previous downloads, and then trying to apply the fix in Mode safe without using MS Update, installing got message error "Setup cannot copy the file shimgvw.dll.

MS continues to insist the that put up-to-date may be broken, despite the fact that I run and successfully installed several other fixes of update since I first tried KB2483185.

I think the parameters of access control for C:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll are confused.  I should also mention that Windows Picture and Fax Viewer no longer appears in my context menu (instead it lists 'shimgvw' but choose just gets an error message.

The original for KB2483185 web page gave an alternative manual to fix my web searches have found several different suggestions for the parameters to use with the 'Cacls.exe' command to set the access control for shimgvw and he 50593, but this info is no longer available.

Anyone know where I can find the official news of MS on the manual alternative to fix 50593?

Or does anyone have any general suggestions for my problem or specific settings to use for Cacls.exe to ensure shimgvw.dll has appropriate access control settings?

Difficulty running it 50590 would have allowed to this workaround. Difficulty running it 50593 (which you already did) would have disabled (or "cancelled") workaround.

If you would run difficulty he 50590 but have not run difficulty he 50593, KB2483185 fails to install & explain your situation:

Note that before installing the MS11-006 security update, you must cancel this work systems where you previously applied around it.

So no, something (for example, W32/Alureon-Variant or another infection) is originally failed to KB2483185. And Yes, I want to contact you the MS Support again once (be sure to quote your case of origin or SRX): this time, you will need to firmly insist on talking with technology to 'level 2 '.

Also to give tech a link to this thread for reference.

Note: All the foregoing assumes that you have a functional application of the antivirus installed AND that there is no "leftovers" from a previous installs a Norton or McAfee application.

I find it peculiar that you just bought a HP computer brand new, still-in-the-box, which came with Windows 8, not 8.1, preinstalled Windows. That said, cross your fingers, roll up your sleeves and try the fix following multiple step, I cooked up just for your computer...

    ACTIONS

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline.  IMPORTANT => NO SKIP & perform all steps in one uninterrupted session!  [If a step said to restart, restart! ]

1 right-click on the link, select SAVE TARGET as.... & download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above and select run as administrator to run the Norton utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. right-click on the following link and save the download to your desktop: ie8 - rereg.all.zip [1]

4B. right click on the file that you saved in # 4 has & select EXTRACT ALL. This will create a new folder in Office also appointed ie8 - rereg.all. The folder contains both scripts below (plus a third that will NOT be).

    Note-online scripts are good for IE9, IE10 & IE11, too,

    5. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the task bar), open the folder created in step # 4 b above & double-click on the file named ie8 - rereg.32on64.cmd to run the script.

5 b. Repeat this for the file named ie8 - rereg.64on64.cmd then restart.

    6. reset Internet Explorer by the MANUAL of instructions on this page-online http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Note => for best results, check the option Remove personal settings .

7 run the Windows Update Troubleshooter from start to finish by the first paragraph on this page-online http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates [2]

    8. restart once more then test by launching a manual check of updates & see if KB2887069 any/all others updated and allows to install now. Follow all the instructions.

    9. assuming all went well, see if Windows 8.1 is available through the store Windows and, if so, if it will be properly installed. Still, follow all the instructions.

Can you please try to install Adobe Application Manager of http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774.

If this does not work then the safest course would be to remove all Adobe Creative Software using the uninstaller programs located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.  This should then remove the Adobe Application Manager folder also within public services.  Once the software is completely uninstalled and Adobe Application Manager is deleted, then you should be able to reinstall it from https://creative.adobe.com/.

  • Plugin Flash will not install even after installing the latest version of Flash

When I go to a site that contains Flash content, it says "a plugin is required to view this content" and there is a link to install the plugin. In addition, there is a message at the top of the page that says "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" with an option to "Install missing Plugins". I click on the link to install the missing plugin, and a dialog box appears that says "the following plugins are available: ' and 'Adobe Flash Player 11.0.1.152' lists with a checkbox next to it. The box is checked, and I click on 'Next' to install. He's going through the motions and then told me that 'no plugins were installed. There is a link to manually install the plugin, which brings me to the Adobe's Flash download page. I unchecked the box for pair McAfee Security download and downloaded the latest version of Flash (to be honest, I downloaded actually this exact version even about 10 times today). The dialog box appears, I save the file and once it has downloaded, open the folder that contains (my downloads folder). I then, close all programs (including Firefox) except for the folder of Windows Explorer I want to run the installer from. I double-click the Flash Installer to perform the installation. The installation process is complete, the installer tells me that the download is successful, and my browser opens upward with a message "Successful Installation" from the Adobe Web site. Yay! My installation is successful... Orrrrrr not. Return to the page with the Flash media - always have a message saying that I need the plugin. Try to download plugin once again... no dice.

THEN, I go to "Manage my Add-ons" thinking maybe I need to activate the plugin. There is no plugin Flash (or Shockwave) listed on any of the menus - it is as if it does not exist.

I downloaded the latest version of Java because I read somewhere that Flash requires Java work; I installed the "add-on Compatibility Reporter" so I could force Java to be enabled. It made no difference whatsoever, best I can tell.

I also went to the Adobe homepage where you can see what version of Flash you use (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) and it does not even show that I have installed Flash. In Internet Explorer, it shows that I have installed Flash, but it's the previous version (but this is probably due to the fact that I downloaded Flash in Mozilla, not IE, and they use different modes in each browser - so an update that you download from a browser does not necessarily apply to the other browser).

So in summary: I don't know what on Earth is wrong here, but I'm about as frustrated that I've never been in my life. I don't know why the installation of Adobe Flash is said she is successful (it sleeps for me?), but there is no plugin appear in my menu manage add-ons, and I googled all the possible combinations of content in this message and have not found a solution that works yet.

It seems that you have found the 64-bit version of Flash. Is your Windows 7 64-bit?

I did read your entire post, but NPSWF64_11_1_102.dll which is Flash 64-bit; This turns into a novel when it should have been a short story.

First, uninstall all Flash your system by following these instructions from Adobe

Second, get the 32-bit versions of the following. Why? Unless you use an unofficial Firefox 64-bit version, the regular Firefox is a 32-bit browser and needs 32-bit Flash.

Third, test Flash on websites where you had a problem before.

If this does not work, my last suggestion for you is to follow the instructions from Adobe for troubleshooting. I don't know what's happening with your system, which could possibly be the cause of the problem.

If this answer solved your problem, please click 'Solved It' next to this response when connected to the forum.

  • I don't get 'the update could not be installed' even after disabling all & restart - why?

He said as another instance of Firefox is running, but there isn't.
    I use Windows 7, Firefox 5.0.
I disabled the Logitech, SunJava devices & everything, no luck. Nothing else works except the Windows stuff.
It's the first time this has happened - there is a problem with Firefox?

If there are problems with the update then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

    • Uninstall your current version of Firefox.
    • Do not remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.

Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

If the files have already been downloaded, you must delete the files in the folder updates\0 and updates.

You can remove active - update.xml and updates.xml so if any.

    Hello

Please try to install the software with a new administrator account. A new local administrative account can exclude network strategies, corrupt profiles and configure administrative accounts: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-7

If the error continues to appear, restart Windows in modified mode, and try again to install 12 elements: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/restart-windows-modified-mode-windows.html

  • Repeatedly to get BSOD on Windows 8, even after the new re - installed.

    Hello

I installed a new copy of Win8 about 3.5 months ago, and last week I started having these BSOD errors (possibly after a windows update):

    1. NTFS FILES for error SYSTEM
    2. IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
    3. LIST OF CORRUPT NFP
    4. SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION

Everytime I restarted my computer, I had another of these errors. So I decided to update the installation of Windows 8, and because the update remained stuck on 39% more day I left it. At this point, it was simply impossible to connect to windows whenever I tried because the BSOD would leap upward before that windows won't even load.

    Attempts at recovery:

    1. Fully formatted HARD drive, installed Windows 8, but it was just a matter of time until that the BSOD was back again after a windows update. I suspect that these errors are all drivers related issues, but how can we know which driver is causing the conflict exactly? What can I use to read the Dump files easily?
    2. Research showed it could be things like adapters wireless usb etc, and I noticed that my usb adapter list win8 as a compatible platform. I went to the store and bought a usb adapter which is 8 compatible windows. I also bought a HARD disk that is compatible win8 just to be sure. I tried another new facility at the new disk and he succeeded. I installed the driver of usb wireless network card compatible win8 since the accompanying CD and the BSOD was back.
    3. Completely re-formatted the HARD drive tries again, another installation, but once it has reached "Installing updates" IRQL LESS or DIFFERENT error popped up again. I don't think it actually installed updates because the computer was not connected to the network somehow, because the usb adapter is no longer connected to the computer.
    4. I tried to install another after a quick format once again, and when she reaches the "Install updates" step the BSOD came back (no cable Ethernet or a wireless connection to internet).

    Issues related to the:

    1. A full format really helps the situation?
    2. Is it possible to have driver problems during the installation of windows on a hard drive completely wiped out?
    3. Why it would fail to step "Install updates" even if there is no connection to the network, so no way to download the updates?
    4. Is it possible that the other components of my machine cause conflicts?
    5. If not, how can I solve this problem? What are some other things to try?

Here are the specs of my machine:

    • Graphics, GTX 670 1 800 MB of memory.
    • 16 GB of RAM DDR3 Corsair Vengeance.
    • Processor 3.5 GHz Intel core i7 - 3770 k

    Thank you

    Hello

It turns out one of my RAM chips was defective.

I ran a diagnosis of memory, which has detected hardware problems, then I ran my computer with each piece at a time to determine the defective one.

My computer works fine now. I think that everything else is fine as well.

I thank very you much for all the help. I'll reach out again if something else happens.

You chose the option in iTunes to download the firmware first and install it in a second time after that?

  • Cannot install Vista SP2 (or any other update) even after the KB947821 application

I tried for months getting my wife's cell phone to install SP2 and other updates of security, but they keep failing.  Microsoft's response is to use the analysis tool... but it does not work.

Unlike some others, the tool reports having installed successfully (KB947821v12) but I then try to install SP2 (or other updates from windows update) and I get an error message.

The system is a Dell inspiron 1525 Dual core * address email is removed from the privacy * and 3 GB RAM under Vista Home Premium, SP1 (32-bit).  System Norton antivirus installed, licensed and fully updated. I've removed almost any other piece of software besides the pilots, office 2007, and Norton, run a registry cleaning tool, defragmented the drive hard, etc.  Still getting the same error.

Try to install SP2 (KB948465) starting from the .exe downloaded from microsoft (have tried so many times, I couldn't wait to download each time!), gives me the message "Installtion failed", details show the 0x800f081f error code

Through windows update, I have the following four updates available, I have several times to install these and get the error code 8007371B for all:

    • KB2508272 (Cumulative security update)
    • IE8 - 8007371B (also tried to install IE8 by uploading it directly on the site of ms, as opposed to windows update)
    • KB2079403 (security update)
    • KB956250 (.net 3.5 Sp1 update)
    • KB68930 (Windows PowerShell 2.0)

Come to be able to install KB890830 today (27/04/2011), but even after installing that others do not work!

'Something' interferes with operations in Windows\winsxs. This 'thing' is Norton or malware. Have you checked one of the logs generated by the update system (or CheckSUR) tool when he was executed?
They are located in and named it.

    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
    Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

It looks like you will need to either Configure the system to boot or uninstall Norton, then run is the removal tool, in order to resolve the error, 8007371 B, elrao.

At the moment, it may be too late to solve the inconsistencies that are produce in winsxs. Your other options are-

    (1) contact Microsoft for assistance in obtaining the security updates installed (KB2508272 or KB2079403). However, KB2078403 was published last summer, and should be installed now. This isn't a good sign.

Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.
