Elements 8 and laptop computers UltraHD

Hello

I am currently using Photoshop Elements 8 on my Windows 7 home. I have a 21 inch Full HD (1080 pix) and everything works fine with a great resolution. I have never felt the need for item-level, because the version I have satisfied my needs. There are versions of new item every year to come, but I don't see any major improvement, only the new stuff which no real added value to the software. I guess that's part of the business logic that we live in today.

Anyway, as I travel a lot I thought to buy a 15-inch laptop to be able to edit my photos so that I'm missing. I have seen that some manufacturers such as Dell or Asus offers screens of laptops with a resolution HD Ultra (2160 pix), which is twice the Full HD resolution. Don't you think that element 8 will work with a Full HD screen?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards

If you mean that if I use PSE8 on a computer laptop UltraHD the fonts menu in the Organizer, software editing Photo and Camera Raw will be displayed much too small, as well as for example the tool icons in the editor?

Yes, a lot of posts on this problem on old versions of many programs.

When you say that PSE13 and 14 can display these fonts from the menu at 200% size, you mean they can also if poster fonts correctly without magnifying glass to 200%, right? Then the fonts displayed 200% without problem?

Yes, the ability to adjust your view to 200% fact display fonts and icons to an appropriate size while keeping the high resolution for the images that you change.

Note that the 200% feature is implemented in the editor. It does not work in the Organizer, which uses instead of the ability of Windows to change the "chipping" of your fonts freely, 125, 150, 200%. Two different ways. The editor ignores the settings of Windows, the Organizer does not account the functionality of 200% of the editor.

' "I'm sure you'd be very satisfied with a 15" display with a resolution of normal ": Do you mean that I sew, buy a computer 15 "laptop with a normal Full HD resolution and use my PSE 8 instead of the upgrade?

Before hidpi views are available, you can work comfortably in the editor without problem and organizer. "In my opinion, it's the hidpi poster which are ' only of the new stuff that don't real added value to the software" feature is great for small screens on smartphones and tablets, but your eyes can compensate for the small size in inches, which is obvious with the fonts and menus. The use of elements means spending a lot of time looking at the screen. That means forcing your eyes or looking for loved ones to small fonts. Not ergonomic at all. Outside available to interface, the image itself is always seen with constant zoom for a global or detailed view. Absolutely no benefit for the hidpi screens.

You can of course install PSE8 on a "standard" definition screen Same Full HD would give small fonts, but it's ok for me.

Do you know that if for example I work/adjust my pictures with PSE14 on my laptop, I can then copy it to a USB key, transfer of my computer at home to put them in PSE8 Organizer and still be able to keep games version I defined in PSE14? I will be able to work more images in PSE8 editor then?

Your problem is common for people who want to edit and organize the place of their computer.

Of course, you can edit your images, assign a print, write metadata in tags and use a USB stick for transfer to your main office. Who will "import" of these files with their labels, but not the version games, albums or batteries, which are kept in the catalog.

With elements, the general solution is to keep your catalog and your image on an external drive files (pretty small and inexpensive today). You plug the external hard drive Alternatively. Just put the drive letter the same on both computers.

With Lightroom, there is another solution: mobile of Lightroom, but it's a different story.
