  There is a fade in wmp tool that might do the trick - (I've never used it myself you have to experiment!)

  Play any track and go to playback in progress pane in WMP (rather than component library) - right-click in any space and you will see "improvements". Go over it and you will see "Crossfading and volume control.
  Try it and see how you go... I would not play around with any other audio effects however; some of them can make things sound pretty dire!

  Finally - leave you a memo for you remember what changes you made and how you got there. It's so easy to forget (well that's when there are my age!)

  If there is no music or vocal content at this time, you can just Alt + click on the Audio portion of the Clip (must temporarily unlink the Audio from the video - if the Audio is separated, just click Select top) and then use the scissors/razor cutting tool, on each side of the 'blip '. When you have a cut on each side, you have the choice, and here would be my workflow: drag this segment to a lower Audio track and position it as a part of this Audio Clip "calm." Now go to the good, quiet Clip and use the razor/scissors to cut a segment, the same duration as the segment with the blip. Remove the segment with the blip, and then Rt-click on this segment we just cut to the right, enough Audio, then select copy. Here is where we "outsmart" PrE, as he wants to help us *, and we do not help here. At the end of the timeline, beyond your Clips and move the CTI (current time marker) according to the last Clip of just a little. Press Ctrl + V (paste) to obtain a copy on a free Audio track.   There are different ways to do you project:
