  • Trying to understand how the Eloqua cookies work and relate to a user

    Greetings,

I'll just start where I think my basic understanding is for the moment and move what I seek to clarify and accomplish.

    High level understanding:

    • The user hits your Web site that contains the "Eloqua traceability Code" in this topic.

    • Cookie is created that is grouped with ".". Eloqua.com.

    • The user goes to a form and submits their contact information OR surfed a bit before hitting a form

    • … At this point, I get a little misty... *.

    • Eloqua treats the presentation (or create a new record or at the e-mail address and adds the information as prescribed in the existing record)

    • (Will not enter treatment programs because they are not relevant to my question)

    • Eloqua is to the top of the confirmation page

    * So here's what I'm foggy on...

    1. How/where the cookie will be created. I followed to this 'image' tag in the elqImg.js file. (http://now.eloqua.com/visitor/v200/svrGP.aspx?pps=3 & siteid ={SITEIDHERE} & ref2 = elqNone & tzo = {TIMEZONECODE} & ms = 933 & elqCookie = 1). This is the only method of creation of the cookie, calling this URL?

    2. This GUID in the ELOQUA cookie, is the one that is now linked to the folder of the user once they succeeded to convert?

    The goal

What I do, it is a construction of a method aside server to validate users return, those who have converted for example via a form and are known to me.

I have an idea what happens to the code, I'm just here to chop the process on the side of Eloqua how it handles data as well as what look for it system to properly attach the USER = this cookie GUID (if that even happens).

If it's worth whatever it is we're always on Eloqua 9 If this has an impact on the method.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you kindly

    Hello Adam,.

I'm not quite clear on the use cases that explained you at the end, but I'll explain how the creation of cookie:

When you followed the scripts on your page - in this case, you have the old synchronous tracking scripts, the call to the function img.js below

results in the creation of cookie. Please note that there is no code client which translates into the creation of cookie, but when this line of code above is executed, this triggers a call to our svrGP.aspx page - as you have already noticed, and exist on our server-side. This page performs certain functions among which is to create a GUID and drop a cookie on the browser if it isn't one already. This page is also responsible for the creation of a visitor profile, which is a record in our visitor table in the database that has a GUID primary key - which is what contains the Eloqua cookie.

    Thank you

  • Eloqua Cookie Documentation

Is there documentation on what is stored, prepared and comes the Eloqua cookie? All documentation on how to write additional values in the cookie?

The cookie only contains the GUID. Everything else is BGN eyes where written on our servers using the GUID as a reference.

Change the cookie is unfortunately not supported, so there is no documentation around it. Where you need to do something else by using cookies, it would be really better to drop another cookie rather than modifying the Eloqua cookie.

  • PHP: Seeking users by e-mail of the Eloqua GUID

I'm looking for simple instructions on how I can get the users Web site e-mail address of the Eloqua GUID with PHP...

I have seen a few examples with javascript, but I can't seem to find the side Server?

    Steve

This is an old issue, but for those who can land here via search and so on...

As you said, you can use web data research to obtain data through JavaScript client-side (using the Eloqua Cookie to customize your Web site, FAQ: data Web site searches).

For these server-side data, get the GUID (you should maybe wait for the page to load so that the cookie is loaded, retrieve the GUID with JavaScript, and then send it to the server with an AJAX call) and make a call to the SOAP API (Eloqua SOAP API Documentation) to obtain the profile of visitors (Eloqua API how-to: request for visitor profile data).  Condition that the visitor has been linked to a known contact, visitor will have known contact ID profile data - use ID to call the REST API (The API REST Eloqua - contact tracing) and get some contact data you want, including the address email contact.

  • Dissect of Eloqua own AdWords Landing Page and URL with query string parameters, please!

I presume that for AdWords landing pages are one of the most common types in use. I'm at a new company and try to create an approach that uses the latest methods. HAFS is gradually, and a large part of the information contained in the Topliners is old (2011) as these popular posts

What is the best way to track Google adwords through Sales Force?
How to capture Sources referring to forms and Landing Pages using query strings

and the references using javascript to analyze the parameters in the screens that is 2009 and is not exactly what Eloqua uses today.

I started to look at what Eloqua uses in its own marketing efforts and saw the potentially useful parts and parts that are confusing. I thought it would be useful if someone could dissect the code of the landing page and explain how each part of the code is. I'm OK with short descriptions and references to other articles or messages to explain the different parts that have not changed.

Here's a page url to use. I added 'x' before each additional parameter then click top ruin the campaign stats.

    http://demand.Eloqua.com/LP=3461?elqoffer=xGartnerMQ & GoogleCampaign = xEloqua & SLS = xPPC_Google_Eloqua_2012 & gclid = xCKGFzcHyh7YCFQThQgod7lMAyg

Here are some specific questions that I hope can be answered:

    • What you rely on Google to deliver you in their reports vs. what you capture discrete parameters: elqoffer, GoogleCampaign and sls
    • You use the gclid itself? How?
    • Is there a new better method for parsing of URLS and using hidden fields settings?
    • How do you use Eloqua cookies at the same time to send the form of Adwords?
    • You dynamically change the landing page?

    Thank you!

    Hi Mike,.

I'm on the Ops of Eloqua Marketing team and can shed light on some of your questions.  I hope this helps!

    • What you rely on Google to deliver you in their reports vs. what you capture discrete parameters: elqoffer, GoogleCampaign and sls

    • elqoffer - we use elqoffer to indicate that the offer is valid for adword.  The value we deliver is used for many things.  Of course, we use it for reporting purposes, but we also set up our steps to use this value in a hidden field to redirect to the appropriate page supply once the form and also send the appropriate autoresponder of form processing.  We set up a dropdown list (aka select list) cards offer URL values (for the page of the offer) and another list of choices cards offer values to email ID (for the answering machine).
    • elqchannel - we also usually include a query string for the elqchannel who tells us the General source of the Contact (e.g. Google, Bing, etc.).
    • SLS - is essentially the Source of lead (sls = source of specific lead).  We use it to fill a hidden fields that reach "lead Source - Original" and 'Lead Source - the most recent'.  For us, the source of the specific lead is a very granular (and non-General, such as 'research') but includes a lot of information based on a strict naming convention.
    • That's what we use Eloqua to adwords, but we also use an SEO company to help us optimize our search spend.  To do this, they provide their own tracking code we put on the landing page initial as well as the page of the offer (ie. confirmation page).  To get the code on our LP, we use the cloud "Static content" component that allows you to place any custom code you want in the body of the HTML code.  Unfortunately, I don't have details on what exactly is captured with this code, or how it is used.
  • You use the gclid itself? How?
    • I don't know the answer to this one.  It's someone else on our team that works closely with an SEO company, so I think they know.
  • Is there a new better method for parsing of URLS and using hidden fields settings?
    • YES!  You may have noticed, we have some Javascript on our landing page that does a few things.  First of all, he did a Web data search in Eloqua to see if you are a known visitor and if so, we can pre-fill the form with information we already know the visitor.  The other thing is the JS is populate our hidden fields with the values of query string.  We started to do this before I had a cloud component that eliminates the need for JS custom.  You can use Form Population App to do all that for you.
  • How do you use Eloqua cookies at the same time to send the form of Adwords?
    • I'm not 100% sure I know what you're asking here, but my answer to the previous question can also respond to this one.  Data search Web first checks the Eloqua cookie to retrieve your email address, and then it uses this email address to search for your Contact field values and pre-fill the form.
  • You dynamically change the landing page?
    • We're not changing dynamically the landing page.  Usually, a visitor to click through to an Eloqua email or visit a page PURL.  Dynamically present the offer page based on the value of the query string for "elqoffer."  Looking for an application Cloud released in the coming days that will allow you to place the dynamic content on this initial landing page based on your cookie.
  • The way we structure our campaigns is based on the balance between reporting requirements while maintaining their operational efficiency.  For example, we do want to create a new campaign for each offer that we have.  That would quickly overwhelm our team.  For 2013, we have created 3 campaigns:

    1 research

    2. 3rd party Emails

    3 display ads

Each of these campaigns have only 1 formula on it (one for research, one for email and display ads).  Each offer has its own landing page (see screenshot below).  The campaign of the report combined with the data of the form layout give us the requirements we need to understand what is working and what is not.

TIP: If you have custom data objects, you can also consider creating one that seizes all shipments form for each of your forms in 1 place.  This way, you need only 1 set of data instead of individual export for each form of export.

    Example of a search campaign:

  • Prevent outside access to a form of Eloqua

I have an email campaign targeting a select list of contacts and you want to only allow these contacts go to the landing page.  E-mail links have a query string that I can check and block foreign access to the landing page via a direct url.  However, if the planned contact had to follow the message to a friend, that won't stop the friend access to the form that the query strings would be present.

As a second check, I could use contact data searches and compare the e-mail to E-mail contact provided, but if they are on a new machine and that you do not have an Eloqua cookie, then this would not solve the problem. Since it is a sort of re-engagement campaign, they are relatively old contacts and this could be the case.

I'm looking for ideas on how to frame this problem and solve it for as many opportunities as I can.  Please post ideas or answers if you have.

    Thank you

    Donald

Thank you to those who submitted ideas for this problem.

I solved this problem using strings of query on the links in the email that go to the screen.  To ensure no outside access, I use JavaScript to check the query string and if it is not present, I redirect them to the home page of the client. This will prevent any external links to access the form.

In addition, when someone receives email (they'll will receive an email for every single product they have purchased), click and send the form, they are placed in a contact group for the single product via a processing step.  I then use the research data of contact group when the form is responsible for checking that the contact is not in the contact group for the unique product specified in the query string by e-mail.  Are they in the contact group about the unique product, then I redirect to the homepage of the customer.  This method makes sure the contact can access only the form once for each unique product.

Hope this is very convenient for someone on the road facing a similar problem.

  • Remove unsubscribed Contacts of Eloqua to reduce the cost of the subscription

I asked the customer a question related to my post here on Topliners, on how long is the user cached data stored in Eloqua and what is their status holders remebered?

I'm still waiting response for cached data; However, it was confirmed to me today by the customer support that unsubscribed status is preserved forever. So, even if you remove all your opt-out of the system, remove contact can be added; However, Eloqua will always have this user marked as not subscribed at the very least. The rest of the cached data is still up in the air (until I can probably answer in the coming days).

This brings up an interesting question, especially for those who want to renew their subscription Eloqua and exceeded their allocation size of Contact database and do some data cleansing. Ripe fruit would be to remove hard-bouncebacks, employees of your company, etc. (However, there are reasons why you do not want to delete all contacts that is unique to each business rule, as to buy a rejection list of non-net-new prospects, prospects rating rented which cost per each send email to avoid the mix of organic conductors and also in case you intend to suppliers accept or use another tool to make outbound e-mail etc.); However, if these rules do not apply to you, it seems that we can clean up a massive amount of contact records and reduce your allocation of subscription database, which reduces the costs, without negative impact.

Customer support wrote to me today: "When a contact is deleted, Eloqua maintains the subscription status and bounceback of that contact at all times" and for those of you asking on how long to cache data is stored oudu record to delete (mentioned as a subject of suplimental thereon), I got this response: "now about the question regarding the repopulation of the contact field data when you re-created your contact system. read your eloqua cookie and used data associated with your existing profile yet to fill again the contact data - FYI related to a contact record profile data lasts about four months in the system (even after that contact has been deleted). »

  • Is it possible to prevent people randomly to submit an Eloqua?

    Hello

I have a scenario that I need to set up a form so that only the existing contacts Eloqua can send the form.

Is there a way to get there?

    Thank you!

    ADI

I see three possibilities, depending on whether you care if people randomly, even see the landing page or not.

If you don't want to even visit the landing page, you can use JavaScript to make a visitor research data as soon as they arrive on the page. If research confirms that the person is an existing contact, then do nothing. If this isn't the case, then redirect the visitor to another page.

The downside there is that Outlook not being able to see the landing page when they already own an Eloqua cookie. If they have deleted their cookies or for any other reason, they are currently not cookied they will be redirected.

Another method I can think of works if you will worry if people randomly display the page, you don't want them to submit successfully. Again, this would be done with JavaScript on the page - attach a function to the change event on the email of the form field. When the message goes, do a database search to see if someone with this email address is already in Eloqua (note it works or not they have a cookie). If the address is not in the database, you may do whatever you like - disable the button submit or redirect to another page, or whatever.

Finally, you could just do all within Eloqua using conditional processing steps. To implement a condition on all of your processing steps - I think that it will work as Tim suggested to just check if their ID exist, but if it does not work, you can also see if the creation date is in the past. If you like you can put in place a conditional step to redirect people not in the database to an 'access denied' page on presentation or something.

The only drawback of the method is that people will still be able to submit the form (so it will be saved in Eloqua as a form submission). However, since none of the steps of the treatment runs and their sending the form do nothing - otherwise said, they will not be added to the database or receive follow-up or any emails that you do following the presentation.

  • How to send form for specific sales reps data?

    Hello!

Here are a few of the quick background on the situation: we often send emails that point to pages that include forms of destination. These forms are used to keep things as content. Several times the prospects to receive these offers are being developed on by our sales team. So rather than lead to our telemarketing group information, we want it to go immediately to the sale. It would be just to give them a head that lead could be warmer.

My questions: How can I change the form of treatment so that it checks the contact record and look up which lead should be sent to the commercial attaché? Is it still possible? Or are there other ideas about how I can make sure these wires to attend the assigned rep?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Ok.. now I have the complete picture.

Here are some steps that you must follow.

    1. Insert the email address of the seller on the contact field, for which he or she should get email notification for.

    2. create a field on the form called Email seller (individual who is to receive notification of the form)

3 implement javascript on the landing page using the Eloqua Cookie to customize your site to fetch and fill in the e-mail address of the seller on the field above. (You can even try it with Form submit cloud app install and use the form submit Cloud App)

    4. pull and pass value of field address of the person selling e-mail in the hidden field on the form.

    5. in the screen, select Notification Email processing step.

6 to the E-mail address of the recipient, select, the form field, and then select the name of the field e-mail address of seller.

    7. you can choose which fields to show to the seller.

Once you do the above, you should be all set.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • Can I evaluate and fill out a form with data from a custom data object?

I'm not a developer, but I'm trying to find as much information for my web team so they can implement this for me.  We use the E10.

I have some information for the contacts stored in a data object custom I want to use for pre-population information access door and in another form.  For example:

    1. User enters his email address into a form and hands
    2. A search and contact and custom data object (CDO)
      1. If the contact has a CDO with the required information, he fills the following form with the information
      2. If the contact does not have the required ORDER, it displays information and a link to the place where to go next

Is it possible, and where should I direct my developers learn more about treatments?

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

You can certainly do so using data for the Eloqua Web search (Setup > data Web Look Ups). A database search allows you to request data stored in Eloqua, bring up the page and with a few JS, we determine if they will go on track 1 or 2 you described above.

Is that an advanced feature requires knowledge of HTML and JS. Here is a good article on data search that should help:

Using the Eloqua Cookie to customize your Web site

If you have any specific questions, our support team is very familiar with this feature and can help to solve problems or answer specific questions.

    Hi Tero-

Ah ha - I understand.  Yes, maybe the title is misleading.  On this dashboard, benchmarks are static, since they are calculated only once per quarter and compares to all companies, regardless of the index.  Unfrotunately, for now, we can put only the specific index comparative analysis on the dashboard of reference.
