I took "Oracle Database 12 c: new performance management and Tuning" the oracle University training. Now I would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054 ' exam. Is this possible?

I guess you ask if you can use the course 12 c as long as the condition of course for the review of 11g.  Over 12 c is not listed as one of the options for the 11 g certification and course requirements are normally specific version - at least with DBA certifications.  If you are already an Oracle OCP DBA, of course, there is no requirement of course for the review of performance tuning.  From what I know the training requirements for other certifications, I do not that you will be able to use it. However, Brandye will provide a definitive answer to whether the course 12 c would be acceptable for 11g certification.

That said, I'm with John - 12 c review is about a community of 85 to 90% in the review of the 11g and is currently about 20% of the price while it is in beta.  What is the point of trying to cross the releases?

  • Can not install Oracle Database 11 g Release 2

This will be my second time trying to install Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 on my computer. I have Windows 7 x 64 and when going through the installation phase, I get many errors, indicating that the files are missing and it will never get past that point. I downloaded the two files for the database:

    Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x 64)
    win64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip (1,213,501,989 bytes) (cksum - 3906682109)

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

You must unzip the two files in 1 single folder.

  • Is there a way we can configure the oracle database to accept connections from particular type. For example, we may limit Server Oracle don't not to accept applications for connection to the JDBC thin driver?

I have an oracle server which is our recovery server disaster. When I switch my application of the primary site to secondary site, we have a window of downtime during which it must implement the secondary site. When setting up the application on the secondary site, I am getting below error please take note that primary and secondary are always synchronized. The application uses the thin driver JDBC to connect to the database.

    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

However when I use the same user name and password to connect to the SQLPLUS it connects successfully. When I use the sqldeveloper or any other jdbc connection, it fails with the above error.

Can someone please advice what may be the setting on the oracle server that limits connections jdbc or any setting related to jdbc on the oracle client

For others this has been resolved with

This is the setting in sqlnet.ora

    SQLNET. ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION = 12

later, commenting on the above setting and restart the listener. It worked.

    Thanks for all the answers

With shared server, you have the following resources imprint.

You need one or more dispatcher processes. They will be processes that deal with the real client connections. Each such process will be a physical process on Linux/Unix, or a thread on Windows.

You need one or more shared server processes. They will be the process that the service of the customer requests. A shared server process can only service application for a single client at a time. But during his life, he can serve many different customers. Each such process will be a physical process on Linux/Unix, or a thread on Windows.

You must keep state data (called UGA or User Global Area) for each client connection. With a dedicated server, the UGA resides inside the memory of the server process. Shared server cannot have the UGA but they need to deal with a number of different clients over a lifetime and so a number of different UGAs.

In addition, 1 shared server can process with your 1st request SQL (and the need to use UGA your connection), and when you run your 2nd SQL a few minutes later, shared 5 server needs to use your UGA.

So the UGA must be shared - and this is why it is stored in the SGA of the Oracle instance.

And this is in short the resource footprint, you need for shared servers.

Keep in mind that a shared server can only service application for a single client at a time. A customer who has a complex query will be shared care for awhile and keep him from answering other customers. It would be ' + selfish + "customer - and such a client must use its own dedicated instead server connection instead. Generally - OLTP queries are ideal for shared servers (because they lack the length) and type OLAP applications are best for dedicated servers (because these are complex and slow to do).

If you want more details on this point - there are many sources available. I suggest you first to the Oracle documentation through (http://tahiti.oracle.com), front of Googling the web for resources.

  • Oracle database can interact with sysbase database in real time?

How to make above function? Please give plan for her.

Yes it is. You must create a heterogeneous connection between these two databases
Take a look at the links below:

  • Oracle Database Express Edition used in a stand-alone database

I have developed databases for years in access. I had a lot of people want me to databases for them. I don't want to make databases in access and then have to worry about sending a database to a different State and then find out that the user has a different version of access installed and it does not work properly.

Can I use Oracle database Express edition to create a database with a front end that I can send to others and they can install on their computer and run it? Or do need to install the full Oracle Express? In other words, is there like a version of the Runtime?

    user13756579 wrote:
I saw that you had to install twice last night, messed up my password. The only thing that that worries me is the database always current running on the user's computer, when well even that they could not use the database for months at a time. These databases are of small databases to keep the data of the members of the group. That is to say. name, address, phone number, personal information and perhaps a scanned document or two.

I have looked at other database programs, but won't put a lot of money if I could develop only 3-5 small databases annually.

You can develop your application in such a manner, that it will start service Oracle XE and stop it at the exit. Set the service to start manually. That's all.

    Thank you.

sqlplus is what you want. Alternatively, the SQL Developer may be more intuitive if you're used to a GUI IDE, (that's another topic).

host is a sqlplus command that opens a command shell - you can get the world BACK on the Oracle database, where PL/SQL does not exist. It is used to temporarily leave the database and do something else at the system level without losing the current state of your sqlplus session.

Short answer: you need not order host for what you are trying to do. It is only adding to the confusion.

Example step by step (it's on Windows Vista Enterprise... Vista Home is the same)

I open a windows command shell

    C:\Users\Brian>dir c:\
Volume in drive C has no label.
     Volume Serial Number is 74D4-C846

                   6 Dir(s) 3,747,790,848 bytes free

Clearly, I'm in the BACK at this point. Connect to the database using sqlplus

                   6 Dir(s) 3,745,767,424 bytes free

The host of sqlplus command opens a new command shell and drops me it. I do order things (file system) Shell instead of being able to issue sqlplus commands until I have to leave the session host.

If you try to change xyz.sql NOW you are looking for a command on a computer named edit.exe or edit.cmd or something. My machine happens to have one - it is an old BACK (not Notepad) text editor

If you do not have edit.exe on your machine you get the DOS error ' 'Edit' is not recognized as internal or external command an executable program or batch file. "

    C:\Users\Brian>exit

    SQL>

I leave the shell and return to sqlplus. Here, I run the SQLPLUS to change the command, which opens your default text editor (usually Notepad)

    SQL > edit xyz.sql

Notepad opens and I enter the following command:

create or replace procedure foo as
    begin
     dbms_output.put_line('Hello, World');
    end;
    /

I save the file and exit in Notepad. I'm in sqlplus.

SQL> set serveroutput on size 1000000
    SQL> @xyz.sql

    Procedure created.

    SQL> exec foo
    Hello, World

  • RMAN can back up/restore different versions of OS without worrying about Oracle databases

    Hello

I am to evaluate Recovery Manager to back up and restore Oracle databases.

I save/restore the Oracle data base diferents versions, these databases are running in different operating systems (AIX, LINUX, Windows)

    For example:
Database Oracle 9 in AIX 5.3 system
    Database Oracle 10 system Lunix
Database Oracle 9 in Windows system

I want to have a single server RMAN for backup/restore all my databases Oracle, is it possible?

A single RMAN server can backup/restore different versions of databases Oracle regardless of the operating system?

If the answer is Yes, do I need to have an operting specif system in my RMAN Server? (AIX, Linux, Windows, etc.).

    Thanks for your help;

On the new server, install the rman recovery catalog and save all databases.

Then you can back up these databases independent of the platform and version by using the recovery catalog.

However, some of the features that you backup cannot be used based on the version of database. For example, backup compression is available on 10g but not in 9i.

    HTH.
