Embed fonts by Save to PDF in Illustrator

I have a problem with embedding fonts using Illustrator using the PDF file "save under". I know that this can be done by describing fonts before you save your PDF file. Even when the fonts embed is check in the presets it always shows the fonts being active in the Acrobat before the flight. You can also see them active in the document properties window in acrobat Pro. I played with it for hours and I want to see evidence that there is no active fonts when publishing PDFs to clients.

Thank you!

It is confusing to me because the fonts are embedded in a PDF file when they are available, as seen on another system and no font substitution takes place. Your screenshot shows that the fonts are included. Problems occur when the fonts are not embedded. In any case, Acrobat is not a function that converts fonts to outlines, which results in a different set of problems.

Whenever I have a file I or any type of file and want to use the option "save under", when I select illustrator PDF completely freezes. I have to force quit and then restart to resume work.

My work around was to save as a file, open the file in adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and "save under" PDF through this program. It works every time. But the option "save under" PDF in illustrator crashes whenever I use it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

What model Mac? How much RAM? How much free space on your drive to work?

    You can also try this

    1. quit Illustrator.
    2. go to user/username/Library/Preferences/Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and parameters, the entire record of the trash not only the contents of the folder...
    3. launch Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.

  • When you save a Word document to PDF format, how can I do NOT to incorporate fonts (essentially save as image only)?

When I 'print' a Word document to PDF fonts are included.  I guess that in doing so, it is then possible to make the file editable.  If I take a picture of my document and save it as a PDF, then obviously, the fonts are not included.  I want to have one PDF file like the other, but the document is hundreds of pages long I don't really want to take a picture of each page.  Y at - he made another way saved PDF and take the embed fonts?

When I save my Illustrator file in pdf format, it is about 2600 k, my website admin will allow only storage of 5000 kb. I tried to 'save for web', but that only saves the first page of my document. Any suggestions other than payment for more storage?

Save for web doesn't PDF, so not a multipage control.

  • Difficulty moving/save MATLAB figures to Illustrator.

I have a specific problem: opening a *.eps file and save as *.ai in Illustrator 10, I get the following message, "File Format PDF Acrobat is having difficulties.  Illustrator had a problem ("%c"). "The file does not save, but I can't save it in pdf format. If I uncheck "Create PDF Compatible File", I do not receive this message.  Change all fonts at myriad or delete all text does not solve the problem.

In general, I was generating numbers in matlab (R2010b), and I want to edit them in Illustrator (v. 10).  I am using Windows XP Pro.  I have two problems.  1. If I export figures from matlab format * .ai, then they open, but vectors cannot be dissociated, if this is not so useful.  2. If I export it as a *.eps files and open them in Illustrator, then groups are logical and manageable.  BUT, when I try to register, I get the above error message.

Any advice would be much appreciated.  I understand that my version of Illustrator is obsolete, but it works normally without any problems.  Thank you.

    .ai Road

You can always unlink, if you can't, then you must have a clipping mask, group composed or nested. With your selection, take a look at what you said the appearance palette, then use the menu command to release the compound. You can also look at the top left to see what you have selected. If you have a heavily nested group, just keep using the keyboard command to separate revivals (you gave me a good idea for April Fools joke to play on a friend here at work thanks).

    road to .eps

You have little code in your .eps Illustrator do not like to save the PDF part... try to select all, copy and paste into a new document. Check all your palettes for unused extra junk, you can remove (swatches, graphic style, symbols, etc.). Also, try to select > object > Eparses points.

    Hmm, not a subtle difference.

We did not have many experts PDF or Adobe Illustrator users post advice here; those who might be sprinkled around on other forums, blogs or support sites.

I noticed when you view the properties of the PDF in Adobe Reader that the PDF has been created with optimization for active fast Web view. This is a feature that allows the progressive rendering of PDF files over a slow connection (http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-native-pdf-file-sizes.html#...). You can try to re - generate the PDF file with this feature turned off to see if that makes a difference?

  • Save a copy / save as PDF is not save to PDF

Since the update to Illustrator 2015.3 I can not correctly save Illustrator files in PDF format.

Illustrator seems to write the PDF OK, but when you view the PDF file in Acrobat it displays the text "This is an Adobe® Illustrator® that have been saved without content. PDF file" that is normally associated with the backup (and viewing) a native file to HAVE it.

No matter what settings of PDF that I use, I always get the same result. A strange thing is it seems to save the PDF file very quickly - even if the file HAVE a huge set scans at work.

I feel the 2015.3 version of Illustrator is a bit buggy - but this is a real problem if I cannot provide a PDF file for approval or printers.

Can someone (Adobe?) say? Thank you.

  • Save a PDF file cannot be modified, losing the file HAVE changed.

It's great that illustrator can edit PDF files and it's great that Illustrator can record on a non editable PDF. But why, for the love of sanity, I would like to save a PDF file cannot be modified, but then have the original file, currently open HAVE disappear leaving only this little pointless PDF file? I STILL want the file HAVE to remain the main current job file original. But it doesn't work.

Or if, for some reason I can't understand, this behavior is necessary, and right, then at least it should show unequivocally that I am to modify a PDF file cannot be modified and strongly suggest to me that I might want to save an editable PDF or HAVE a file, or even do it automatically until I close the file (or Illustrator crashes as it is wont to do).

I'm working on a file HAVE and I need to save a small file of WIP not editable for the customer display. I go to file - save as-> PDF / smaller file size / uncheck "preserve Illustrator editing capabilities". I send the PDF file to the client and continue to work and save, assuming that I'm working on the original. The file looks and behaves exactly as it did until I taped that, intuitively, I guess that is the file HAVE same, original, with the PDF file in a copy. However, when I come back the next morning, after having closed the file, only the low resolution not editable PDF file remains. The file doesn't help, and I have to redo all the work all the way back to the last time, I saved the file I saved the PDF.

Much trouble, loss of hair, the time wasted, face Palm trees, etc.

The thing is, I now /know/ does and I'm going out of my way to avoid it happening, but in the race at the end of the work and send commands to the client and manage multiple versions of files, it still happens. Now clearly this is my fault, but heck, Illustrator could behave much more usefully in this regard!

Well, I must be missing something, I guess.

I asked how "save a copy...". "is the way lasts, and you replied that you were referring to not using Save a Copy... So I re - submit that by using Save a Copy is the solution to your original problem.

    • Work in Illustrator; number of objects; several layers, live effects, etc.
    • Want a copy of WIP for the customer as you have described originally...
    • Choose file > save a copy... Format is not question could make no editable PDF, raster format, whatever...
    • Continue to work in Illustrator... under a State record which is absolutely no different than if I had never done the Save a Copy... There is no "silent dump' edit-ability or any such similar event. If I record, I save it HAVE original, or a new if the State was not saved.

  • Embed fonts in DC

I have haaate DC Pro. I can't hardly find old orders easily. And now, I can only find "Embed missing fonts" in the preflight options. I want to integrate all policies, not only the ones missing. That option was removed, do anyone know? I've searched for days on it, but there is not much info on the domain controller.

I am trying to re-download pro regular, but creative application Cloud is not run for me. I'll worry about that later. Right now, I want to just do the simple task to integrate regular fonts (not to miss those) in my pdf.

    Hi PiperChrmd,

  • My save as pdf dialog has mysteriously disappeared. How can I get that back?

I use Illustrator CS5 on a Mac in the Mavericks. I did a bunch of images using a model, and now I'm eager to make my images in pdf format. I'm going to 'File' > ' Save as ' and select "Adobe pdf" and then click Save. This is used to bring up a separate dialog window asking me things about how to save the pdf file, but that has disappeared. I'm also using an external monitor on my MacBook Pro, and I think that it is the culprit. I'm saving my individual layers so that I can turn power button in Adobe Reader, but this feature is not available without the dialog box. Any suggestions on how to get it back? In addition, without the dialog box Illustrator will emit beeps at me if I try to use it. I have to hit enter on the keyboard to save the PDF with the default settings.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ben

Looks like the dialog box's off-screen. You can try to reset the preferences by using Cmd-Opt-Shift on restart I. That could bring back to the current screen.
